I thought they both sucked honestly.  Sunset Overdrive doesn't look like my cup of tea, I already have all the Halo games and getting a remastered version of the worst game in the main story arc (single player wise) and a beta invite isn't enough to warrant the price tag.  They didn't really show anything else that was exclusive except for the new Forza Horizon, but racing games are a dime a dozen anyway.  I'll eventually get an Xbox One for Halo 5, but there's nothing compelling me to get one now.  At least one admittance that they messed up would have been beneficial.

Sony on the other hand overestimates the prestige of their first party developers, and the smug attitude displayed by the company and their fanboys is really off putting.  MGS has a certain fanbase, but I don't think it has a mass appeal.  None of their exclusives were that appealing outside of Uncharted 4.  A good chunk of theirs was the same press conference people complained about with Microsoft last year, in essence, with the TV stuff.  And I just don't see how it's possible for their VR to work the way they're advertising that it does.  There's simply not enough power on the machine to do it, VR is incredibly resource intensive.

Nintendo isn't even worth talking about.  They threw out their same 3 games, but that's all they really need to do to appease their nostalgic fanboys.

That's not to say there aren't any intriguing games coming out, there are.  The Witcher 3 looks like it will be the first must have title for me.  I was pleasantly surprised with the story and gameplay in The Witcher 2, and while I have The Witcher I'm trying to hold out playing it until I build my proper PC.  If that game is as massive as advertised, that definitely looks like a winner.  The new Dragon Age is interesting, albeit I'm hesitant to get excited for anything coming from EAWare after ME3 and DA2.  While I question the choice of Scarecrow as the main villain, the new Batman game looks impressive.  There's just nothing exclusive that makes me think I need to buy one over the other.  The graphics difference is negligible, especially since I vastly prefer the offset sticks and handfeel of the Xbox controller.  That will still probably be the one I buy.  I'm just not that excited about it.

Guess it's all subjective at the end of the day. Sunset Overdrive looks like a ton of fun and a GOTY contender to me. I loved playing the first Forza Horizon and the Halo Collection will be great for me because I never got to experience the first two Halos and only played Halo 3 with friends. The fact that the package will be 1080p and 60 FPS makes it even sweeter, IMO.

Sony had some things I'm interested in like Bloodborne (major Dark/Demon's Souls fan) and Uncharted of course, but I was pretty underwhelmed outside of those two and the multiplats. As far as Nintendo, Smash Bros looks good (main reason why I own a Wii U) and I will be picking up Bayonetta. The Zelda looked damn good as well.

Dragon Age and the Witcher 3 look great but I'm hesitant as far as DA since I heard some bad things about Dragon Age 2 and I was never a Mass Effect fanatic. I'll be picking up both, though.

Anyone up for a good laugh?

Some people will never learn to just be quiet, will they?

http://news.filehippo.com/2014/07/lindsay-lohan-decides-sue-makers-gta-v/

I saw this the other day and laughed too. Its funny that her lawyers claim that the character of Lacey Jonas "wore hats, sunglasses, etc of Lindsay's style" but in fact the only time you see Lacey Jonas in game is in a random event where she is NOT wearing a hat OR sunglasses. Nice try...

There is no doubt Lohan was part of the caricature that is Lacey Jonas but I simply viewed her as a general joke at the expense of all these pop starlets, not one in particular. Especially one that no longer looks anywhere near as attractive as a ficticious video game character.

EDIT: Its also worth noting that in the CNN article I read and the link you posted both show images that are completely generic cover art characters who don't even show up in game, not the Lacey Jonas character that Lohan is suing over. The beach bunny girl that became infamous was modeled after model Shelby Welinder who has since even provided pictures of her official payment for the gig from Rockstar.
