But that is part of his problem! He doesn't play the ball...at all. You can run with them ll day, but if you don't turn and face, you'll just be there with a good view as he catches it.

Hope Big Ben misses the game for the birth of his child?
His wife is due on November 26th which is a day after the Steelers play in Cleveland so it is possible for her to be early or so and for him to miss the game but I wouldnt bet on it. If Ben Roethlisberger doesnt play against the Ravens next Sunday I dont think the Steelers have any chance to win with either Leftwich or Batch starting. The Steelers need Ben to play in order to have any chance to beat the Ravens period end of story...
He has shown up the last 2 years in the regular season games against the Steelers and found ways to win both games late. So we will see if he can do it once again next Sunday and outplay Big Ben...

With our injuries and issues on Defense and lingering inconsistency of the Offense, and with Pittsburgh seemingly getting better, we need to make improvents on both sides of the ball. I think we should make some adjustments in this upcoming game.
1) With the defensive approach of Bent But Not Break by holding Browns to 5 field goals, will not work against Pittsburgh. I hate to admit, but if we let them in the red zone 5 times, Squeelers would have score 4 TD's.
2) Our Defense has to stop giving up these 3rd down conversions, allowing opposing teams long drives.
3) Our Offense, these 3 & outs are killing us. We need to keep the chains moving, even if don't score, we cannot give Big Ben short fields over and over again.
4) Do not give up on running game if things get tough, get more creative.
Any more ideas?
Very interesting thread i must admit. I remember early in the season when this great team was losing to the likes of Denver, Oakland etc. I still maintained the notion that BIG Ben would have one of the best passing if not the best passing season this year under Haley. Right now he is on pace. To answer your question, Look at the Giants game. Pay for that officiating crew to be on the field game time. :268213: That would stir up the pot quite well.
Son, I know your a fellow Steeler man, But i do not understand this opinion! First WE always have a chance to win with anyone on the field. Thats why our slogan is NEXT MAN UP. 2nd Batch has a very good winning record when he does play, And Leftwich is a monster when he gets going. I mean our biggest down field plays came between Him and Wallace.

When I looked at our sched back in the preseason, I figured Philly and Tex for losses........check. I also had us splitting with Pitt this year, a road loss to SD, and a home game against NYG as a 50/50. Of course, that was before Lewis and Webb going down, and our D-line looking like subway turnstyles during run plays. So in the end, I've prepared myself for our first game against Pitt to be a loss. Hope I'm wrong, but.......?....?...?
I think what he was pointing out was that the Ravens have a very good record against Batch and Leftwich....Ben, not so much. It was great to sweep last year, but I think most realistic Raven fans know we'll need to play alot better to sweep this year, or even win one against ya.

That could not be further from the truth. Leftwich was/is the epitome of mediocre.

We need to score more points than them, and keep them from scoring and it's as easy as that....

But who are we kidding, it's not going to be easy which is exactly why this rivalry is a rivalry at all. Most of the games between the Ravens/Steelers are close fought all the way down to the final seconds. Luckily the Ravens have a lot of experience in that area this year. But for every person that wrote the Steelers off and crowned the Ravens in the first few weeks you will find that most of all except the die hards are off that bandwagon. The Steelers are the team to beat in our division even though we are reigning champs, have the better record and swept them last year.
I shouldnt say they have no chance to win maybe I phrased that wrong, but my point is in the long run for the Steelers to have any chance in the playoffs and to get to the Super Bowl they need Ben playing and Ben completely healthy. This Steelers team will not go anywhere if they have to depend on Leftwich or Batch to carry them into the playoffs if Ben goes down...
I think the key game is going to be in Pittsburgh next week with the Steelers and Ravens because after next week the Steelers schedule is much much easier then the Ravens to finish out. The Steelers will still have 2 games left with the Browns home and away, the Chargers and Bengals at home and of course one more trip to Baltimore and a game at Dallas which will be tough but something that does not scare the crap out of me. The Ravens aside from their second game in Baltimore with the Steelers which will always be a tough game for both teams still have to go to San Diego where they got smacked around pretty good on Sunday night last December, they have to go to Washington to play RG3 which is not going to be an easy task, and even though they have both Manning brothers at home in Baltimore beating both the Broncos and Giants back to back weeks is going to be no easy task at all. And the Ravens finish up playing at Cincy who always plays the Ravens tough at home. So I think clearly you have to give a schedule advantage to the Steelers to finish out the rest of the season after the game next week in Pittsburgh. We shall see how it all plays out it will be a lot of fun...

Pitts is #1 on defense (again) and we are 26th. Their schedule also gets considerably easier.
Am I afraid of the Steelers? You'd be foolish not to be.

At exactly what point is our team waiting to gel?

Payton and the Broncos, in our house, doesn't scare me. Lil' bro Eli and the Giants in our house is a tougher game, IMO.
True. Without Ben, the Steelers O is weak. His ability to extend plays is what puts the Steelers among the contenders year in and year out.

There are still a few ways to beat the Steelers:
1: PRAY
2: Limit the no-huddle offense and run the ball
3: Convert 3rd downs and win the time of possession battle
4: Play great run defense and limit big plays on passing downs
5: Pressure the QB - Suggs is key!

If we don't do the majority of these 5 things well, we may as well forget beating the Steelers in Heinz field...

Go all out. Offense, Defense, and ST needs to play with a hard spirit. Dont get punked by trashy Steelers. Let them get the penalty, and play clean
