Batted Balls (Awesome Trend)

21 posts in this topic

I luv seeing this. I got my first interception rushing the passer, timing my jump, and batting it to myself. I really like the look of Pees upstairs calling the game. There should be a bounty out for batted balls.

Keep Up This Trend D

If you can't get a pash rush on the QB, then the next best thing is to pull a JJ Watt .

I think our coaches have made a decision to tell our rushers , " hey if you don't succeed on the rush , STOP and jump when the pass is thrown
to deflect it . This will be easier to accomplish on short pass attempts

Unfortunately Big Ben moves around a little more then Palmer and this will be harder to do against him .

I think its a bit early to say Pees in the booth is the hot ticket but it most certainly seems that way.

I know its Oakland but this is a MUCH improved Ravens D.
Next week is the real test.

I agree, but the Raiders had a lot of injuries and we were home. Over the next 3 weeks I think we'll be able to have a better idea of how being in the booth is helping.

Oakland was short its top two backs. We were short our best LB, D-lineman, and Corner, our third best corner, and even our best safety for part of the game. That's in addition to Suggs not being completely up to speed yet.

True but it's the raiders, a bottom 3 team without some of their best players. Plus we were at home where we play 10x better.

But I don't care, great win for us today, we played great.

Does that matter? Webb is NOT coming back and Ray won't be back for a while. Honestly what we are seeing today IS the Ravens team this year. It should get better but don't say we were down our best LB and Corner because we aren't getting them back any time soon.

We were down our best run stopper. It doesn't take a D Mac or a Goodson to do well when the O line is blowing the front 7 to pieces. But we didn't allow that today, even without Ngata. The physical battle up front is usually more important than the guy carrying the ball.

Heck, we were down one of our top 2 or 3 CBs for what it's worth also.

When the argument that I'm countering is "The Ravens D only looked good because the other team had injuries.", then yes having a lot of injuries on the D is important.

This is off topic but did Ngata play today??? I saw him warming up on the bike threw-out the game but didn't notice him playing at all.
[/quote]
He went in occasionally, but I never saw him for more than one play at a time.

Yes, it reminds me of the 2006 RAVENS. Or should i say the RAVENS of the 2000s.

I think they realized after watching the TEXANS picking us apart and the rest of the league for that matter batting down balls.

I think we are going to see a trend for sure across the Whole league.

well lets keep in mind they still scored 20 points on us, I wouldn't say the defensive performance was great by any stretch, and its being over shadowed by our offences brilliant day; however, they did look much improved in the last two weeks!

Yea two long touchdowns due to bad coverage (yes ed reed needs to retire) are not something to brag about.

If mcfadden was healthy, it would have been a different game. If Richard Seymore was playing, it would have been a different game.

Rice looked like garbage, same old crap. Oline can't make a gap to save their lives, and our pro bowl back goes down the second someone looks at him funny.

I'm a realist, and sometimes that gets misconstrued as pesimism; however, I disagree with most of the things you just said.

Ed reed's hit almost knocked the ball loose, he came from the other side of the field that was by no means a fault in his coverage.

If Mcfadden and Seymour were healthy It would indeed have been different...but I believe we still would have won.

Rice looked like garbage because we were rotating the O line around pretty good, and some guys like Jah have very little in game experience. and I have no idea what you're talking about when you say Rice goes down easy....no idea.

Don't make excuses for Ed. He had a hand in both of the Raiders' touchdowns.

It's a well established fact that Rice goes down easy. Do you see him run with the same power that MJD, Gore, and even Pierce do?

The only guy we rotated in on the oline yesterday was Reid, until all the scrubs came in....

With Lefty and his long wind up starting, we should have a lot more opportunities to bat balls down, hopefully the trend continues
