Great Game In Houston Now To New Jersey To Play The Defending Superbowl Champs!

45 posts in this topic

I know I know, I hate to kill everyones spirts but..Reality is that next week we go into New jersey and play the defending superbowl champs who are sitting at the top of their division with a surpising loss to the browns in week 5 but they have a 7-1 record and are playing arguably the best football in the league right now. Eli manning has 1735 yds this season alone. Completing 153 of his 250 passes..Overall the Giants rank 5th in offense and 3rd just under us in Overall Defense. I think the Browns ability to put pressure on Manning and take an early lead was the answer to the win. Obviously we plan to put pressure on Eli but face it.. Our pass Defense has NOT been as great as it should be.. I know Flacco has stayed cool in most situations but the fact is he's facing a #1 top team.. Do you think this will effect his play at all? Who do you think will be the best match-ups? What do YOU think we need to do to win the football game? Obviously KEEP the giants from scoring and KEEP the ball. Flacco has been VERY good with turnovers so far,Obviously I dont think we'll be able to use much of our running game agianst this defensive line..

We have played VERY good football pretty much the whole season(take out the colts game) We almost beat the steelers & Titans. BUT we have YET to beat a team with a winning record. But each game we contiune to put up more and more points, Which is something new for our offense.. It's not like its not possiable to beat the Giants. I think our biggest thing as is every game is for Joe to stay Cool..

P.S I think if we BEAT the Giants then anything can happen this season, as long as we PLAY UP with them Im good too, Im just hoping we dont get slaughterd.. even though I dont see it happening.. you just NEVER know..

We couldn't ask for more going into this game. We have scored more points in the past 4 games than i can ever remember. Our D is playing great. we seem to be letting up one big play a game. As long as that doesnt turn into 2 big plays per game i think we will be just fine.

Im really pumped for the next one!

GO Ravens!

I think at the very least we give the Giants a run for their money, like we did with the Titans. But I think we are a FAR better team now than we were in Week 5...

It will be a tough game on the road...but if we win it the NFL will stand up an take notice!!!
Anyway, I am to scared to talk about next week, I just want to still enjoy today.
Same.

Either way, whatever happens, happens. If we should get slaughtered next week, then worst-case scenario (barring injury) is that we're 6-4 instead of 7-3. No matter what happens, we'll still be in the playoff hunt, and we get a home game the following week.

But, of course, a 7-3 record and a win over the defending Super Bowl champions would still be nice. ;)

7-3 is ridiculous good record. I never came this far in projections I stopped at 6-3. What do we need to win next week. This week is the moment of truth how good are we? We could really be 8-1.

I think we win this game in the trenches, like all good football teams win. We need to dominate at both lines of scrimmage, blocking the run and having an effective pass rush on D, and great run and pass blocking on O.

If we play like we are capable, we stand a good chance to win this game. We will have to play mistake free football to beat the Giants. Right now we are playing as well as anyone in the league.. The Giants are a very good football team. BUT...So are the Baltimore Ravens.

Stop their run, solidify ours!...Time of possession...We can win it! Jacobs will be a BIG test, and Ward is VERY good also!

Yeah, I agree...no injuries...but a hard fought win for Philly works for me...Smashmouth from Philly would want it so!!!

Yeah, let the giants have many 1 week injuries, that doesnt hurt them, but makes them not available to play next week, but can play each other week... Cept if we play them in the Superbowl....

Now wouldnt that be cool, rematch superbowl.

I think we have a legitimate chance to beat the Giants. We just need to continue with what we have been doing the past four games. Flacco will continue to protect the ball and throw downfield when needed. Our run game will continue to be solid. Defense will continue to dominate and will make plays for us. I'm really impressed with our teams improvement every game. i see no reason to doubt them now

The way I see it this game is our test of whether or not were as good as we think we are this season. If we can win this in the Giants own stadium, Steeler's better watch out cause there wont be much competition when we play them again. Even if we do win against the G-Men, Im predicting a close game, VERY close maybe even OT. I doubt the coaches and Ray will let our guys go into this game flat, I think we will come out ready to play and be explosive. Hopefully Harbs decides it's time to dawn the black jerseys?

I actually think that this past game in Houston would have a affect on the NYG game. The game against the Texans was a classic trap game, especially such a young team.

As far as next week. I think we can beat them if we continue to play well. Offensively they play into what we do well. They wanna run the ball all over the field, well right now i don't see anyone in the NFL running the football on us. Eli does a good job when he can use playaction, if we can take away the run i feel really good about putting the game in ELi's hands.

Defensively it will be another huge test for our young Oline. However if we can continue to keep Joe clean then i think we can do enough in the passing game to keep the chains moving. I feel Ray Rice will have to play a huge role in our offense this week. Screen passes will be huge. I hope Mason is good enough to go(for obvious reason) cuz he had a pretty good game against Samuel the last time they played.

I think the first team to 17 wins. I think the fact that Harbaugh spent the last 9 years with the Eagles will help Cam with the gameplan, cuz the Gaints D looks alot like Jim Johnson's D.

We are going to most definetly have to play great football on both side's to make this game winnable, if we get enough pressure on eli we can cause him to make some serious mistakes. Are secondary is gonna be in for a test and so will are O line. Can't wait to see what happen's hope we walk away with a win.

Isolate Antonio Pierce with drags and runs inside which bounce to the outside. Playmaking backer but not great sideline to sideline.

Run blitzers at Diehl and the left side of their line.

Find some way to make Plaxico not want to play. He killed us with Pitt since Sharpe's "Plexiglas" comment. Don't obsess over him
and get burned by Steve Smith or Tyree like we did by Walter (which I predicted). He's the kind of receiver we could really
use C-Mac for. I'd jam with Walker and play Reed over the top.

Find a way to slow down their furious pass rush. Even with Strahan retired and Umenyiora on IR, they have the 2nd best pass rush
in the league behind Pittsburgh. It's not just Tuck, who's a freak, but Kiwanuka, Robbins, et al.

Aaron Ross, Sam Madison, Corey Webster, and the rest of the secondary aren't individually great but can make you pay when they
the line gets pressure up front, which they usually do. We made Mario Williams disappear today, but the Giants have a good,
consistent team pass rush. I think Ross is a very good corner who is playing very poorly and beneath his ability this year.
We can probably go after him and frustrate him.

Jacobs makes his money between the tackles, where a couple of monsters I know live (Ngata and Lewis). Clog the middle like we
should be able to and make him run sideline to sideline. Our front seven has to make the tackles, though, or he could injure our
db's with his freak size like Jamal Lewis did to Dawan.

Use screens and draws in obvious passing situations. Their D is usually a 4-3 cover 2 with read and react lb's. They lay back and
try to read the play, then pursue very effectively. Troy Smith could play a large hand in keeping them off balance.

1st downs will be crucial. The Giants very rarely blitz, because they don't have to. Their front four gets a good rush by itself.
We can't be in 3rd and 9 where their guys are getting pressure and they're dropping into a flat cover 3.

Watch quick dumps to Kevin Boss and Derrick Ward on blitzes.

Naturally, try to get pressure on Eli without having to rush six or more.

great analysis Fred!

not much to add to that.

I do think this is one of the games where Heap has to get more involved in the passing game. Against the cover 2, the middle will become available, Heap is going to have to run some seam routes. The Eagles aren't built to beat you with the running game so we hardly saw the Eagles run it up the middle. We can, so I think we need to test the middle of the defense, especially with McClain. Our RB's are also going to have to to be able to make some plays out in the flat, they'll give us that all day luckily we do have some RB's who can make those plays. I also like the idea of bringing out the wildbird package to keep them off balance.

I'd also like to see several stretch plays and pump fakes to get them way out of position. Flacco performs a nice play action pass, had me fooled a couple of times :o

oh yeah im glad the Eagles played a really physical game tonight, that should have a couple of the Giants sore for awhile. Looks like the RB's had trouble with ball security, I think Coughlin will address that and make sure it doesn't become a problem. To counter that I think it's fools gold to try and strip the ball everytime they run the ball, but of course if you have defenders behind and in front of the RB you have to try and rip it out.

Eli likes to change the play at the line quite a few times, maybe not as much as his brother, but he does it often. He is going to get plenty of different looks from our D, and im pretty confident Eli will get confused some. The past two games i've seen him change the play at the line, and it resulted either in an INT or a dropped INT.

This game against the Giants will either earn us respect or take our respect away. They are already talking about we aren't the "real deal" because we have yet to beat a team with a winning record so if we can go into New Jersey and get a victory against the Giants, we will get the respect we deserve. Hopefully we can pull it out.

Only 12% of people are picking us to win, which in my eyes doesnt really mean anything because we're always always the underdog, im glad they won against philly actually.. no doubt in my mind they are overlooking us.. which is never a good thing to do

I think we have a legitimate chance to win, too. Of course, so do the the Giants. What I'm hoping for [besides the win] is to play a good game against the defending champions. Even if we lose, but we play a great game, this is morphing into an incredible season that many of us didn't expect before the season started. I'm enjoying this season very much and while wins are fantastic, just being able to think you can win, that you have a chance, is an incredible feeling. Being in the hunt is exciting!

12% are picking the Ravens??? I'm surprised it is that high. I'm surprised that anyone is picking us. We haven't really proven that we can beat the elite [although I think that our game against the Titans and the Steelers have shown that we can compete against them]. I'm not saying that I don't believe we can do it, just that I am surprised that anyone would actually pick us - when they pick us, they are saying that we WILL win, not that we CAN win. I think 12% at this juncture is impressive.

My thoughts exactly. I am really glad they won. If they had lost they would have been even MORE hungry for a win. I'm not saying they'll overlook us, but teams like that generally play much harder coming off of a tough divisional loss.

Well if I am not mistaken the Texans were ranked 4th on offense?? I am nervous about this game, I can see us having a tough time stopping the run! We are going to have to bring heavy pressure to the QB ! But I have no doubt we can beat them! GO RAVENS :)

The Giants have too much weapons to focus on.
Pierce, Manning, Jacobs, Burress, Toomer, whole D-line, great backups in Ward and Bradshaw...
It will clearly be the toughest game this season! It could happen that our 28 game streak of not giving up a single 100yrd rusher ends!
They are extremely dangerous in every aspect of the game: passing, rushing, sacks, INTs.
We have to get our pass-rush stronger. When Eli is under preassure he stilll makes many mistakes.

It''s still 6 days... and I cant wait for the best Sunday this year!!
Forget Steelers, Cowboys, Redskins, Colts or Jaguars.... This IS the team to beat!!
There's a big chance that we will lose this game, but (in contrast to the "experts" and other NFL fans) we know what they can do!!!

Time for the best game of the year!!
Be aware GIANTS.... here come the RAVENs!!! And they have NOTHING to lose!!!
