My Game Thoughts

First of all good game to your team. They came through when they needed to and that's what good teams do. Some of my thoughts:

-- This was by far Weeden's worst game this season. Yeah he had a 4 INT game in the season opener and looked absolutely lost but that was his first ever game and honestly you can excuse that. PLUS when you look at his INTs really I would say only one of those was a BAD pass. In today's game he never looked comfortable at all. He had glimpses where he seemed in the zone but overall he was way off. His throws were high or highly inaccurate. His last INT could have been a great play if he throws the ball a bit earlier and the 4th down throw was absolutely terrible. Of course those are just two glaring examples but really all day he just never looked comfortable. I think that is a credit to the defensive scheme.

-- I give our defense a lot of props for really holding their ground as best as they could after the first quarter. We desperately missed having Phil Taylor in our lineup and it really showed today why he has a great impact. Sheard had a very good overall game and our secondary for probably the first time this year overall looked pretty decent with the exception of Haden's awful mistake at the end. Still it was nice to see them show up and at least keep us in the game.

-- Trent Richardson. Why oh why our offense FAILS to see your value in the beginning of football games ceases to amaze me. There was absolutely no reason for our team to go for it with passes on the two 3rd and 1 downs in the first quarter. I truly think this is where we lost the game. It was bad playcalling all in all. When you are playing a team that is struggling badly against the run you don't ABANDON it in the 1st quarter. Our inability to stay on the field early on really did us no favors. I know we hung in the game until almost the end of the game but still.. you just can't do that when you are an inferior team. Once they did realize he could make plays he did so and he is proving to be the real deal.

Again.. good game to you all. We had many opportunities and your defense stopped us any time we had a chance to capitalize.. except for the TD at the end where our offense stopped ourselves.

Playcalling killed the Browns. I was wondering why they refused to run on those short yardage situations, we hadn't stopped it all day. Richardson is by far the best player on your team, he's a beast

In all honesty I think the Browns are just one more draft from turning everything around. All of this young high drafted talent will eventually come into their own. Its only a matter of time

My thoughts on todays game:

1.We never should have lost the lead at all this game

2. Complete utter failure to adjust our game when things just arent working. No excuse for 159yds of offense in the first Qtr and 130yds for the rest of the game

That is all

After the three and out fest in the third i was ready to call the game a loss.

Our offense was yet again spinning its wheels.

We wernt letting Richardson run the game, although he was doing enough that he could well have won the game for the Browns had it not been for the mistake ratio being so far in our favor.

Make no mistake about it the Ravens pulled this one out of their,,,, ummm,,,,, shoes.

It absolutely did in the first quarter. I don't understand why they felt they had to establish this super passing game early on. Weeden hasn't been a bad QB overall so far this season but he's also no Tom Brady or Drew Brees and as the game went on it became very apparent that he was just "off" today; don't really know how else to explain it. I hate to say he just simply had a "bad day" but really in the end that's what it was.. no real reason for it. Richardson has been a great workhorse for us and again.. knowing your team's struggles against the run I just would have felt they'd use Richardson as much as possible early on to set a tone. They wouldn't have necessarily had to score but just keep your defense on the field and keep our offense on the field as well and establish a presence.

I do believe this is true. They have a lot of great young talent but they need another playmaker or two like a Trent Richardson in other positions; mainly in my opinion WR. Players like Haden, Taylor, Sheard, Ward and others on the defensive side of the ball are really not bad players but for most of them it's only their 2nd season. The same goes with a lot of players on offense. It's going to be a long season of growing pains and I knew that before the season began. The biggest problem right now is our WRs awful ability to catch the ball. That didn't really rear itself too badly today but it's been a plague all season so far. I think if we can just get another playmaker on our team somewhere we can build around that.

One thing I will say on a separate topic.. I LOVE seeing our owner there. I love seeing an owner who actually gives a damn about their team and how they perform. I think he has the ability to bring in some good pieces to get us turned around. Unfortunately it will take two things that most Browns fans are tired of having... time and patience. But I truly think this is a great group and they're learning together and keeping it close in almost every game this year.

I see you're also in Chesapeake, VA. You're allowed to come find me and we can watch football together (and root against the Steelers as our common enemy) but you can't make fun of my bad team. =]

I was glad to see us start out the game dinking and dunking our way to two straight scores. But then all of a sudden, we went to the no huddle and didn't even sniff midfield for two quarters. If I were in charge I'd stick with the huddle, and bring out the no huddle to surprise teams and if we need to score fast. As a team, the Ravens simply aren't handling the no huddle effectively as their main attack.

Sure we won, but hell another 6 straight 3 and outs!
[/quote]

That's simply pathetic. Expecting points on every drive is unrealistic but the consecutive three-and-outs are really demoralizing.

The fact of the matter is all of those three and outs had the "magic Rice touch ratio "

Some times it doesnt work.

Pretty Browns orientated analysis on the ravens board, but I guess that's fair since you actually ARE a Browns fan lol. That said, your thoughts are pretty accurate, I have no idea why Richardson isn't seeing the ball more early in the game.

Good game

Yeah he's the current owner of Aston Villa. He's not a "bad" guy really he just wasn't into it is all; he got the team from his late father and probably just didn't really care (for lack of better words) about the team. It seems like Haslem actually cares from what I read and I really think that will have a great effect on the team going forward.
