Pro Bowlers

14 posts in this topic

While, hopefully, we are all voting for all our ravens to go to the pro bowl we have to realize that the rest of the workd probably won't be doing that. So, midway throught the season, who do you guys think will be going to the pro bowl for us this year, on O and D?

On offense I'm going with:

FB Leron Mclain- contridictory to what sombody thought earlier this year, Mclain is listed as a fullback on the pro bowl ballot, and his 347 rushing yards leads all Fullbacks and his 5 rushing touchdowns is also first among all fullbacks and 11th among all runningbacks.

WR Derrick Mason- derrick mason's 43 reception is tied for seventh in the AFC with 4 other players (including Reggie Wayne). His 557 recieving yards have him alone at seventh in the AFC. In terms of recieving yards per game, he is sixth in the AFC, with and average of 69.6. Also, he's 5th in the AFC with 32 first down receptions. All this is along with 2 recieving touchdowns.

ON defense I've got:

DT Holoti Ngata- While his statistics aren't oeverwhelming at all, the league ans its fans have defenitly taken notice to the force that Ngata has become, constantly clogging up holes and allowing Ray Lewis to run free. He does have on sack to go along with 26 tackles.

ILB Ray Lewis- again, his stats aren't overwhelming but he is tenth among all AFC inside linbebackers with 55 tackles (9th in solo tackles) but he has been all over the field making plays (and breaking shoulders) and people have defenitly taken notice. HE also has one sack. I think the lack of tackes for both these defensive guys is our defense's ability to get off the field quick and our offense's ability to keep them off.

OLB/DE Terrel Suggs- suggs may only have an AFC 39th ranked 35 tackles, but they're along with and AFC 4th ranked 5 sacks. what really sets Suggs apart from other linebackers are his AFC leading (among linbackers) 7 passes deflected and his AFC leading (again, among linebackers) 2 interceptions. Both of these were ran back for a combined 86 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also has a forced fumble.

I agree with you completly. Suggs, and McClain or shoe-ins. Mason should be one too. Ngata deserves to be going for sure, but he is a quiet player, and doesn't make enough noise to get noticed. Lewis will probably go just because he's Ray Lewis and his stats are decent.

Ngata will not go to the Pro Bowl for one simple reason.

He is listed as a DE on the ballots, most fans voting will look at his sacks to see if he belongs. If he were listed as a DT then i think he would be a shoe-in. The guy has proven to be unblockable, and he is not starting to get to the QB more.

lookout of a sack from him today.

Ray Lewis is almost automatic to go to Hawaii. Ed Reed, although he's the best safety in the league, I'm not sure he'll make it. Le'Ron McClain I think is a shoe-in, as well as Suggs. Haloti makes the trip too. I also think Sam Koch will go, he leads the league in net yards per punt.

I think Haloti is probably the most deserving on the entire team. He has been our best player this year if you ask me.
La'Ron really should go, even though he kinda cheated (being listed as a FB, but picking up most of his stats at HB).
I think Ed Reed may well get there on name alone. Ray deserves to go but I seriously doubt he will. Tackles in the stat column don't get people excited. Suggs has helped his cause with his 2 pick 6s, but I'd prefer if we didn't have to pay him pro bowler money (and if you've payed attention to my posts, you'll know I'd rather not pay him at all).

Koch has be in the discussion as well. Admittedly, I don't know other punters numbers, but he has to be one of the top guys in the league.

I agree with you 100%. What about Koch? He's spectacular. The new kid did a great job today as well, not Pro Bowl material just yet though

well this list is who I think will make the pro bowl. Since nobody really knows all teh punters' in the leagues stats, it 's probably just going to be a popularity contest. Which is why a cowboys or steelers punter will probably go to hawaii. But yeah, Koch has been great.

I thought it would go down as a "team" safety.

Our team have several players that deserve to go to the Pro Bowl... but the thing is, this is a POPULARITY contest.
Ray Lewis and Ed Reed would probably go there due to name recognition. I'll also add Suggs to that list because of how much coverage he has been getting in the media lately.

Haloti is a monster and he'll get his recognition for sure... Ray Ray is back to his old ways :D McClain is the most productive FB in basically every offensive category... Suggs, while invisible today had those two INT returns which will help his cause.

Haloti has been getting a lot of press lately, so I think he's becoming more and more a no brainer. I think it was Chris Berman said this morning on ESPN that Haloti is the best DT in the NFL, better than Haynesworth even. Ed Reed is listed as a FS whereas Bob Sanders and Troy Polumalu are both SS, so I think he's now a shoe-in. Suggs and Ray should have their hotel reservations already ;).
