Not much in a holiday mood today....my fiance got word late last night that his uncle has stage 4 lung cancer. He was up all night and only went to bed a couple hours ago.

This will be our 5th Halloween at this house and I can guarantee we will keep our trick or treater # at ZERO once again! Not many want to trudge up a quarter mile long driveway, through the woods to a brick house in the clearing all by itself. Ha!!!

Happy Halloween, everyone!

I am so sorry to hear this. My thoughts and prayers go to you, your fiance and his family. I'm not letting Sandy take away from my Halloween. I have the original movie The Thing. I was groggy back at school for the first time since Thursday(Was off Friday because I'm an Arabic major and Friday was a Muslim holiday) but I still made the best of it. Hope everybody else is staying safe. Gonna carve jack-o-lanterns for my nephew in a bit.

I was going to dress up as a Replacement Official for Halloween, but I realized it wouldn't work since I know the difference between a Touchdown and an Interception.

My mom ran out of candy super fast. She decided to put year old croutons in the candy bowl. And some stale pretzels. Her next idea was tea bags. I told her to throw some pens and dryer sheets in there. At that point, why not?

Much higher volume of "beggars" than usual...I think the cabin fever brought them out. I don't have nearly as much leftover candy as in past years.

That's too funny. Is she at toe-nail clippings yet?

Don't even lie. If I showed up at your door dressed as a 5'6" meerkat, you know you'd give me candy.

I almost went there. She asked me if the pens should be working or not. Sad... and they had four huge bags of candy, plus half a variety pack of Laffy Taffy (I ordered just the cherry, they told me to keep it and refunded me, so I took what I didn't want to her) and it lasted about two hours. I'm so glad I don't have kids in my building tonight... my candy is MINE.

I'm hitting the grocery store hard tomorrow for half priced leftovers.

Pick some up for me? Nothing with nuts. Or caramel. Blech.

Everyone asks me where I get my "interesting" shoes. Halloween shopping on November 1st, duh... where else?

Man, I must've hit up about 100 houses this year trick or treating. When people asked me about my costume. I just said I was 'Jack' from that Robin Williams movie.

I go strictly fruit flavored. Sweet tarts, laffy taffy, starburst, etc.

My little 'fireman' made out on the candy! We live in the country for the most part, so we drove to a nice looking neighborhood and walked around. Someone gave him a jawbreaker. I laughed at that. He just got his teeth a couple years ago, I don't want him to lose them just yet. ;) But it was fun, and he has enough candy to last him until he's in high school!

Seriously though, if I ever make it to 90, I am just going to say screw it and go trick or treating. Might as well.

Think of all the things you can get away with when your 90. Nobody is going no, they'll just check it off to you being 'old and batty' (Ofcourse this might actually be the case).

We had about a 150 or more kids this year, its been down the last couple, we had a blast, it was nice to see the younger kids since it has mostly been middle schoolers of late. My yard decorations had to be put back up this afternoon after the rain stopped, not quite what it was before Sandy,. The yard debris kinda added to the display. I still have a bag of Hersheys left, I am going to give it to my son to take to school--not allowed in my house

Save the left-over chocolates with caramel for me. I promise I won't eat more than one a day (crosses fingers behind back).

I got LifeSaver Gummies especially for the little ones. The older kids had to take the harder stuff. Anyone know what "Nerds" are? There seems to be quite a few of those left and I'm not sure I want to try them.

Those are good. They're little chunks of hard candy coated with more hard candy. If there's cherry lemonade ones, send them to me.

Nerds are tasty. The Hershey's mix is whoppers, cookies and cream , milk chocholate and Reese's . There is a reason no Milky Ways or Snickers lol

Halloween just passed and my work has holiday cookies and candy out...

I get to stare at 5 pound Hershey chocolate bars, 1 pound Reese's peanut butter cups and 3 pound Whitman candy samplers for eight hours a night.

The Hershey bars do make me homesick though.

Oh and they're freaking decorating for Christmas over the weekend...... ugh just ugh.
