I will never forget the hurricane party I went to during Gloria in the 80's, I was pretty close to the only car on the beltway, my parents were soooo pissed lol

Here's a little something to add on to your fears. I think I saw that NOAA estimates about $1 billion in damages.

Also, it might snow because temps are gonna drop to around 30 degrees. Get your shovels ready. And your flamethrowers. Zombies hate flamethrowers.
I'll stick to my Gerber Gator machete, baseball bat and K-Bar. Flamethrowers only last so long. And like someone already said: No power=No gas. And like Purple Nurple, I don't watch any news either. I found out about it through my University of Maryland email. Not too worried. Once went 4 days without power. Think it was hurrican iris. I was gaming with some Floridians last night and they didn't seem too shaken by it.

The thing that would concern me the most would be the possible isolated tornadoes with the mixing of these two storms. Hurricanes are one big animal, tornadoes are a totally different and chaotic one.

this one is not a hurricane its a Hurricanenoreaster which means we could get alot of snow fall if that other front moves like its supposed to , baltimore on a direct hit would see mainly rain York on the other hand 12-17 inches of snow but if it hits DC first then baltimore will also get snow

Ok for once I am glad to be in Colts country! Please be careful and as safe as possible. I've got tons and tons of people to worry about all up and down the East coast. Y'all are in my thoughts.

Lucky for me we live on a pretty solid grid and apparently an important one.
Our power rarely goes out and when it does its not for long.
We have more than a few schools and businesses ( gas stations ) that share the grid we are on.

Either way, we have about six or eight gallons of water.
Plenty of propane for the grill and the camping stove. The uno deck is all shuffled and life is good.

If the storm does hit maybe we'll get a 'Hurricane Day' off from work.

I'm guessing the supermarkets are going to be ravaged already. Everytime I go into one when a big 'storm' is being hyped it looks crazy. Carts are tipped over in aisles, shelves are empty, there are half eaten items, spills on the floor, and the employees looked like they were taken.

In the end, we'll be okay people. The world is not going to end.

Yeah. We got about another 2 months for that. ;)

What's special is that Sandy is supposed to meet up with a vicious front coming in from the west right over the mid-Atlantic region. It's also full moon (higher than usual tides) so the coastal flooding could be incredible. Top that off with Sandy being HUGE and slow moving and we're talking possibly 4-5 days of high winds and torrential rains. This is not going to be pretty.

The Perfect Storm. That movie was incredible.

Eh. Think I actually have a bottle of Evan Williams. I could use some Beef Jerky. Since I'm not much of a drinker, maybe someone would be willing to trade lol.

I hope it's not an omen, but I just had one of those short "nuisance" power outages. It was out just long enough to screw up everything in the house. I hope it's just from crews out trimming trees (which BG&E said they'd be doing all weekend).

I had something like this happen a few weeks ago. There wasn't a cloud in the sky and I was watching a college football game and next thing I knew, the power was out, followed by an explosion in the distance. Lost power for 4 hours. Lately, here in GB, near "The Dena" we've had guys digging up the sides of roads. So that could be what happened.

Damn this hurricane is moving slow. Talk about lazy. They keep pushing the projected landfall back.
I am so ready for it to get here, do its thing, and get the hell out. The waiting is nerve-wracking. Slow is bad. The slower it moves, the slower it leaves.

This just came in over our NOAA link here at the store............for the Baltimore area:"THE AMOUNT OF RAINFALL WILL DEPEND ON THE
TRACK OF THE STORM. CURRENT FORECASTS SHOW 4 TO 8 INCHES ALONG AND
EAST OF INTERSTATE 95...AND 3 TO 5 INCHES WEST OF INTERSTATE
95...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. " (moderators: sorry for the caps, its a cut and paste)
