Most Over-rated Players in the NFL...

27 posts in this topic

Didn't really know where to post this since it's not about one particular team.

Tim Tebow tops the list, but this really doesn't come as a surprise. I think most fans of the NFL would say it too. I am just more shocked that Ray Lewis was on this list at number 5. I wish more people understood just what this man does for the team in general.

That is just ridiculous that Ray is on that list. He is the best leader in the NFL, maybe ever. He is the most intelligent defensive player I have ever seen, as he seems to always know what the offense is thinking. Add on to that, he was fifth in the league in tackles when he got injured this year.

Paying 5 mil a year to an average 37 year old ilb. If he wasn't the emotional leader he woulnt be on the team at that price. He'd have be a cap cut... That's not an outrageous statement at all.
see post above. More do with hos salary linked to production. Rather than pure production.

His play has diminish but in huge part to what's in front off him I'll say that. But he's earning as much as Patrick Willis.

If he wasn't Mr Baltimore he'd have been a cap cut, still could be one in the summer. They'll have to take a long look to see if he's worth his deal.

Personally I think he is. For the intangibles only, his play on the field isn't worth what he's paid though. In that respect I agree with the article.

Before everyone gets there shorts in a bunch over this list, remember where these lists come from. Ray Lewis was ranked BY HIS PEERS pretty high on the 100 best players list for this season. I'll take their opinion over that of a talking head or worse, a poll of fans..............most of whom are biased.
From the article...."Yes, in a survey of 180 players, Baltimore's sainted middle linebacker and future no-doubt Hall of Famer was listed by three percent of the player vote as a guy whose reputation -- at least at 37 years of age, with 17 years in the league -- far exceeds his production". I stand corrected on the origin of this particular list. However, 3% of 180 is only 5 votes. My overall point was these lists, like all others in every facett of our lives, are usualy very misleading.

LOL.....I just realized that 180 polled players, divided by 32 teams, averages 5 players per team. I wonder if Ray's 5 votes came from the Steeler players? hehe.

I agree. His impact on the team does not correspond well to his cap hit, and his play declined drastically from this year to the next. That whole nonsense about meaning more to a city is frustrating to someone who strives to be analytical and its a false perception that leads to players getting overpaid in all sports (i.e. Kobe's contract in the NBA).

Tebow is obviously the most overrated player in the NFL, and I despise him. I still think Eli should be on the list, he's the definition of being more lucky than good. He is two Patriots collapses, a ridiculous helmet catch, and a ridiculous Cruz catch away from being ringless. He's a guy who's made by his supporting cast, I think if you put him on a different team he doesn't have the success that he's had.

Ray got a whopping three percent of the vote.
THREE percent.

Who is good at math? What is three percent of 180?

5 and one half people (ewww) out of a "select " 180 said Ray Lewis is over rated.
That goes on the "whoop-de-do" list.

Thanks M3

You guys need to also remember they could have asked more people than 180. The editors for that poll could have took and chose the top 180 of their liking to help them get more clicks or looks to their article.

Advertisers do it all the time, especially on the 9/10 dentists recommend this toothbrush type deals.

Well, seeing how our D is performing that's not really a major thing with Ray leading the team in every defensive stat so far this season so I just have to throw that out there. I would agree that Ray is one of the most overrated players in the league. Last be honest, Ray is 37 years old so he's not the same Ray like he use to be.

How can Tebow be most overrated? The guy got dumped by his team is back up to Sanchez, one of the worst QB's in the league? Who is over rating him? This sounds like personal animas rather than a good ranking.
