Aaron Wilson is reported that preliminary talks for a Michael Oher extension have been held. If he's is paid anything more than RT money my already low faith in the contract management of this FO is going to go away completely. It's bad enough that we overpay mediocre players at the least important positions on the team, giving big money to RGs (which you can easily find), RBs (again, easy to find someone who can get you the production you need with a good line), and ILBs (which is the lowest impact position on the defense) while letting the best pass protector on the team get away, but extending someone who has proven they will be nothing more than a below average LT at LT will be a catastrophic cap mistake. Michael Oher isn't a football player, he's a marketing scheme. It's sad that they're even considering keeping him, given the fact that Baltimore is one of, if not the most, loyal cities to its football team and doesn't need marketing schemes and feel-good stories to pack the stands.

This is a mistake, i agree fully. The guy does nothing very well. They do not put him in a position to be good at all. They try to make him play a position he just cannot. He lacks speed, jumps to early and has no faith in himself when playing LT. Leave him at RT and play Mckinnie at LT.

There was speculation that there is a snap count clause in Mckinnies new contract and they just do not want to pay the guy the extra million. Mean while the entire offense takes the beating.

I forgot to make the point that Oher doesn't fit the zone blocking scheme that the coaching staff has been forcing down our throats the past three seasons. He lacks the feet and the intelligence in picking up blocks for it.

I'm so tired of teams, both in the pros and college, forcing lines to use zone blocking schemes when the personnel doesn't fit it, but that's another rant entirely. Just because the Texans and a few other teams have a lot of success with it doesn't mean everyone will.

If we find a long term solution at LT he can play RT, and if we find someone better at RT he can play LG.

Oher's problems have nothing to do with run blocking, if anything his athleticism and physical tools are ideal for zone blocking.

For once, I'm hoping Oher prices himself out of Ozzie's range for the sake of the team. We need to let him go, and just move on without him, IF he wants Left Tackle Money. Now IF he is willing to take Right Tackle money and play Right Tackle while we go and get Jake Long or draft a new Left Tackle, then keep him.

Otherwise, I say don't sign him as long as he wants to play Left Tackle, there will be plenty of teams willing to over pay a decent Tackle like Oher big time money.

Oher doesn't come across as a guy that would push for top money, but rather take a team friendly deal.

Neither did rice either I suppose

Oher definitely doesnt play like a top dollar guy so hopefully if he does get an extension it is very very low

No, more so his agent may sit there and tell Oher not to take anything less than top dollar. Though I just hope if we do re-sign him, he is a Right Tackle going forward.

I think Rice took a fair deal for what he's worth as a playmaker. Nothing over the top but nothing screaming team friendly, he deserves what he was paid.

If they can sign him to a cap friendly , reasonable contract amount I wouldn't be against it

And pay him with what money?

Everyone constantly harps on how bad Oher is and to let him go. Who the hell else is going to play LT next year? They've determined Osemele isn't nimble enough on his feet to play LT and by taking Osemele they've determined Jah Reid was a wasted pick as a T. So we're going to what? Find a Pro Bowl level LT late in the draft? Good luck.

I'm not suggesting paying Oher top 10 LT money, but he's a competent T in the NFL. It's plainly obvious that he's a better RT than LT but we're not going to find a stud LT if we continually make the playoffs and try to win championships, which is the entire goal of playing each year.

I would not push for more money either if i was bringing 2 or 3 penalties every game at LT and spent most of my time going backwards would you ? He admitted he does not have the speed to be a LT but time and again where is he, great call Harb's. I loved Harb's till he showed a weak side for making changes and just going with the flow. He is a great coach as long as things are going ok but if things go wrong his brother outshines him in every aspect. I loved Lewis's philosophy, "JUST DO YOUR JOB" which our interior defense is not nor our offensive line.

Stop putting Oher at LT and leave Mckinnie there and Put Oher at RT. You cannot tell me when they put Oher at RT and Mckinnie at LT last week it was not an improvement ? If you say it wasn't you are a fool and lying to yourself. Harb's has no backbone and is gutless when it comes to the hard issues.

For a team known for hard hitting and standing proud we have the softest coach. Of course the hard hitting and standing tall was before Harb's and now our D shows his soft side.

If he was being utilized correctly , yes. giving him 9 carries or whatever he got vs Houston doesn't justify what they paid for him (although it was/is not his fault )

Just a quick question.. How many penalties did Oher get THIS season?

We'll go and get Jake Long to play RT, and then trade a toaster to the Browns for Joe Thomas to play blindside.

Good God I'm a genius.

Putting McKinnie at LT wasn't an improvement. He almost gave up a sack on his first play. They're both bad.

And pay him with what money?

That's not true at all. They drafted Osemele to be a Guard. There's no body of work for Jah,he was active for most of last year however. He had a Calf injury. He was sideline. Osemele was probably drafted to be a guard. Just Like Yanda was.

Love how people think can just let Oher go and get Long or any other in their prime pro bowl LT like its that easy you complain about cap issues get back to me if that ever happens talk about screwed.. Oher is effective at what he does for the price point. He should make more than he has its his rookie deal he's been on and that has been steal. RT money is what he will get paid and i think he's worth it other than penalty issues at times he has been solid not being hurt hardly and is one of better lineman we have. Lineman just fall off the trees apparently..
