I just think HARBAUGH needs to step up and tell Cam that we have Joe Flacco, not Joe Montana at QB, we were successful when we supplemented the run with our passing game, we suck the other way around, halfway through the season can we learn this?

As far as the defense, I dunno, I think we got stingy in the free agency and its coming back to haunt us now. Not sure if we can fix it. They definitly aren't the kind of defense that can stay on the field 80% of the game due to the O playing buttcheeks football.
I dont think that is true. Our offense has been very effective running through Joe Flacco, with the caveat that our Oline is up to the challenge. In games where Flacco has had good protection -- Cinci, Dallas, NE, Cle to some extent -- he has played elite and torched the opposition.

In games where the line was a problem -- KC, Philly, Hou -- the passing game and Flacco struggled. I dont think that is coincidence.

So what is the solution? Cam needs to gameplan better plain and simple. Houston has an incredible Dline (Philly and KC are no slouches either). Against those teams, we probably should take a different strategy. Run the ball and then use play action after the run has been established. Use more max protects. Use more screens, quick slants, and end-arounds (yes I said it).

I guess my point is we cant just say our fast paced, vertical, pass-first approach doesnt work. It has worked, it just hasnt worked consistently. We need to gameplan better knowing the limitations of our own offense.

So we can have a LT that not only has huge issues with speed rushers, but also is completely unable to run block effectively. I see your point. Oher has his fair share of issues with speed rushers (though to a lesser extent this season) but at least he can run block at an elite level.
That would be good and all, but we aint running the football anymore. We rush the ball less than 20 times a game. Mac is a pass blocker and we need that if Cam is going to make Joe a 40+ throw passer each and every game

Why Ray Rice is not following Vonta Leach play after play is beyond me.
Not that is completely matters but some times Leach is a decoy. Defenders know to cue in on him and Ray will be right behind momentarily. Set one guy up to absorb the impact of Vonta and send a second guy in behind and there you have the end of the play.
Some times it works some times it doesnt.
That said I will agree, in a short yard situation having Vonta clear a path is a good idea.

McKinnie back at LT, Oher back at RT, Osemele at LG and our line is fixed
Agreed. Pending Osemele's health, rotate him with Harewood.

I see your point. I also see how with two defenders tied up the passing game starts to open underneath and across the middle. Use some play action with Leach on the field and the D has to start adjusting to us. Mix in some short yardage first downs and Torrey and Jacoby should start to get some separation.

The lack of adjustment for the opposing D is a situation that Cam creates. His vanilla play calling brings this on. I guess my point is, if Cam is only going to have a one dimensional offensive plan, we need to be a heavy down hill run team. If not, get used to an up and down season.

Trading away draft picks for stop gap players is how you become the New York Jets. In other words old and lacking in talent.

So don't get stop gap players. You can get quality talent for 2nd rounders.....or why else trade for them.

There are two types of players you could get with a 2nd round pick. The first is a veteran who is still playing at a high level but doesn't have many years left and probably has a high salary. A guy like Dwight Freeney comes to mind who is someone people on this board desperately wanted us to trade for after Suggs got hurt. The second is a young player who's rookie contract is about to expire and the other team would rather not pay him. A guy like Vontae Davis comes to mind who Miami traded to Indy. A guy like that would also require a big contract extension.

In both cases, you are right we do get a talented player but a player who would destroy our salary cap and in the case of a guy like Freeney who only has a few years left in his career.

Ok, better point made there. I get what your saying. It can be a crap shoot like the 2nd rounder for Kolb too. Very aware of that.

For those who say that firing the OC won't end well - I would agree with that normally, but I think the Jim Caldwell could probably do a better job. I am inclined to actually make that move.

Option No. 9 (not listed) - We sign 2 new Cover Corners, which means no more giving up 10 yards on every play, defense finally makes a stop on 3rd down and get off the field. Problem solved.

It's sad that a rookie has been - in my view - the best O-lineman for the Ravens, but this is a good selection.

I think comparing to the OC firing in 2006 may be a bit of a stretch as this team has so much more firepower than that one.

It's very simple -- RUN the ball -- and work off play action and the offense is fixed!

On defense you gotta attack instead of being bullied. When CBs are 5 yards off WR's then that indicates you're the passive -- the ones being bullied! You gotta get in their face and let the corners learn -- the only way they are going to learn is being in the fire. You gotta realize this is not an elite defense anymore until we get another DL opposite Ngata -- but I think the draft will fix the D line problem until then expect the 2001 Raven defense.

offensively.....with balance and creativity, i would give the ball to our $40 million dollar man but mix in the PA's, screens, draws, pitches, tosses, sweeps, curls, slants and drag routes in the passing game with an occasional deep pass down the field.

peep the draw @ 1:45 and the pitch @ 1:53...awesome!

and i would sit the ENTIRE team down and play this "I"m a Winner" video to remind them of who they are:

Our O-Line and our D-Line have been looking like crap this season. While I'm not an expert in seeing the problem and suggesting a fix, I definitely think something has to change. Maybe it is time to re-evaluate our Cam Cameron and Dean Pees. However, I don't think that alone will make the change we need. Let's not get tunnel vision on this. Cam and Dean need to look over their game plans and the players they have and if they can't do that successfully then we will need to find someone who can.
