Is the offense struggling because of the line and the fact that Flacco is a much better passer when he has time to go deep?

Is the defense struggling because of injuries and the fact that Pees is new and still figuring things out?

Or, do one of these guys have to go?

Is it time for a panic move? Can you make a substantial change and it not be a panic move?

Discuss.

I voted for Jim Caldwell, because it looks like our run plays are pretty simplistic, so I don't think it would be that hard to adapt to an offense that should have a few much-needed new wrinkles in both the ground and air games while its more striking difference will be in what gets called when.

I'd also be willing to trade as high as a 2nd-rounder to get a quality defensive player to help create more negative plays for opposing offenses (a safety that can blitz and cover TE's, an OLB who can force fumbles). Maybe Christian Thompson can be that extra pass-rusher. Ultimately, I think Caldwell is the move that would help this team the most.

I think you need more options on there. Like 'Trade Cary to Texans for JJ Watt' and 'Trade Tyrod Taylor to Bengals for AJ Green'.

This is one year that I think we should make an in-season trade. By the way when is the deadline?

They are not dumb, it's just none of them will happen, including "no major changes".

A major change does need to occur, but it will happen with the squad we have. EVERYONE needs to pay attention to their job and play like they want to win on EVERY down. There's the talent here to compete, they just need to compete!

You haven't seen the "fire in the eyes" attitude very often this year. It's almost like they have been pacing themselves, looking ahead to a very tough run of games that will determine the success or failure of the season. Getting to 5-2 playing like pansies a lot of the time is something to be thankful for. Hopefully the Team realizes their fortunate position and takes advantage of it. 12 or 13 games to the prize has to look better and provide more motivation to play like your hair is on fire than the 19 or 20 game season viewed in September.

I don't know, maybe this is just a pipe dream............

Not at all! I was more pointing out that all of those choices are about as likely to happen right now as the options I wanted added. I figured if you're gonna dream, why not do it BIG?!

Definitely a no to firing coordinators...that just doesnt end well.

A trade for some help on defense ( dline in particular) would be helpful.

They are very intimidating, and teams seem hesitant. I want us to wear them three times a year, the max allowed for alternates, though Harbs spoiled three great chances.
All these choices are lame. I say worry about them in the offseason.
Oh but I would like to cut Kemo and pick up Kelly Gregg. He can't be any worse, right?
I would like to see Tyrod involved more. He seems to have some real talent and I want to see it used.

OLine isnt the issue, the issue is the DL. Oh and Fire Cam and Pees.

Bring it back up in the offseason and we'll chat. I may even agree with you at least partly then, but I don't think now is the time.
Oh and after the game our O-line had you come out and say they aren't a problem. I'm sorry, but that's just blatantly wrong.

You also forgot the option to trade with the Chiefs that is pending they get the first overall pick, we send them Joe and allows us to get Geno Smith or Matt Barkley.

Did that end well? Nooo. Our offense crapped the bed in the playoffs.

Cam needs to be gone. But I think doing it mid-season is not the right way to do it. Not saying Jim Caldwell couldn't do the job... but he's never been an O-cord before.

My ideal situation is the second the Chargers fire Turner we throw all kinds of money his way to come here. Even if that means Firing cam 10 min before a playoff game starts.

I probably wouldn't make any of these changes right now. But if I had to pick one, it would be to get a new offensive coordinator. This past game reminded me of the Jacksonville game last year. The offense was so stagnant, it was painful to watch. With the offense they have, they should never struggle this much to move the ball.
