We should win. Don't get me wrong, this has trap game written all over it, but we'll be coming off of a bye week, and we'll likely be frustrated as hell. I'm confident about it.

How is it a trap game?

The team will have had two weeks to stew over one of their most embarrassing losses in recent memory. They'll be playing against a divisional opponent that almost aways plays them tough. And they'll be on the road where they've typically struggled going back to last season.

Can't remember the exact numbers, but our record after the bye is quite good.

I'm not too confident about winning any more road games this year. Something is going terribly wrong on road trips and it's been going on for years.

Just a question.. who is going to cover Josh Gordon? Because I think that had they used him against us they might've won.

Just in the sense that we'll be favored and expected to win coming off an embarrassing loss and a bye. But you're right about everything else.

Nah, no trap here. Last Browns game? Certianly! Kansas City? Sure. Not this game, no way they don't come out with everything they have to beat the crap out of the Browns. We are going on the road after the most humiliating loss in recent memory, after a bye, against a division opponent that didn't lay down for us the last time we played them. This will not be a trap game, if the Browns win this one, its because they are a better team... which they are not.

there's a post somewhere showing we've been losing one then winning one on the road going back for a while... so we'll win this one, coming after the bye as well... but pitts game is next to be played away ARGH!!!

I do not know. I figure we still have the juice to beat teams like the Browns. After all, we know them pretty well, play (and beat) them twice a year. And they are playing their typical Browns football. Its when we get to the Steelers, Chargers, Skins, Broncos, Giants, last year we would eat those teams up. Now, the weak defense the inconsistant offense, I don't know. I still think we take the division just becuase, so far we do not seem to have any real competition, but changes have to be made.

I would not want to be a brownie on the field on 11/4. Should be a statement game for the Purple and Black.

Get straightened out in this game and the next, then move through the toughest stretch of 7 games that I can remember. Hopefully we will be "well" in Nov./Dec.

this game will be close, Weeden has shown improvement week to week and Josh Gordon is a deep threat and greg little abused Cary williams and really cost his team with his drops, and their defense is playing solid.

Has it been that we play badly on the road? Or is it that we play extremely well at home?

I don't know about not "winning any more road games this year", but you're right in a way and it needs to be fixed. Maybe everyone needs to take their favorite pillow with them. :-)

[sup]we need to win this game and the oakland game before we enter a rediculously tough stretch of the schedule to the end. So basically this is a must win especially a divison game and the ravens comming off the bye i believe are undefeated.[/sup]

I figured I'd start a topic with regards to the upcoming bye and subsequent game at Cleveland.

The bye couldn't have come at a better time. Our team needs to lick their wounds and fill the voids left by Webb and Ray.

I for one am extremely excited to see how Suggs looks after an extra two weeks of training!

Keep it positive. There are plenty of 'sky is falling' threads elsewhere. Lets start a discussion about how this team can get better through the bye and how we're going to continue our streak against the Browns.

They'll just bring their negativity here. The only way to appease them is if we all give up on the team, break out the pitchforks and march the Ravens front office.

Glad we got Suggs the reps in before the bye. At least that starts the progress. Wonder what improvements, if any, the team will be working on during the bye.

The Browns with Weeden and Trent are much more formidable then when we last met them. And this game is on the road.

Cleveland is much better than their record indicates. Just as we've won close games, they've lost close games. If the usual road offense shows up we will definitely lose.

This is the first time we've had a road game after a bye during the Harbs era. Let's hope the record sticks.

The we've been playing, we'd be lucky not to get a 'L' during the bye.

No one wants anyone to give up on the team. Negativity doesn't mean hopelessness.

Societies that have often ignored "negative things are often those that are most doomed to fail. I bring that up, because fandom and sports are somewhat intertwined as being their own societies.

Difference, is we can't necessarily direct change from our mere comments (unless one of us here is actually Oz, Harbs, Cam/Pees etc), but we don't necessarily need to ignore them either.

What exactly is our strength it ain't defense anymore, not power football or any offense . We have been outplayed three straight games lets rebound on the road and blow them out.

Well clearly it's the kicker position. That and the Ravens have the advantage of being a well dressed team. The Bengals can't say that.
lol yes.

Those and we have one of the best "Yelling Coaches" in the league, and we always get good 'value' (I mean they may not be the best players, but Ozzie be damned if he can't pass up taking someone with the 76th pick rather than the 69th... :eyes:) in the draft.

I would say I feel bad for the Browns, but I don't..maybe with the exception of Trent Richardson because I have a feeling that unlike Arian Foster who we were containing, Trent isn't gonna get the benefit of a decent passing game. I feel like two weeks for Suggs and the boys are going to put them in quite a mood after stewing in their own juices. I'm not overlooking the Browns, I'm looking forward to them being run over.
You call 100+ yards from scrimmage and 2 TDs "contained"? lol Love your optimism.

Though thinking about it, it could've been worse...

That's why I said, 'we were containing,'. :). I mean, we looked good at first and we were stopping him! Then the wheels came off the cart. Hehe.

On Defense :

First a quick synopsis for the team as a whole.... Even though this sounds kind of crazy after a blow out loss. I have more optimism after this game than the previous two. Suggs is back, no offense to mr. lewis but he is a real game changing play maker. He is one of the few players in the whole league that can demand a double team and single handedly disrupt any offensive line. With Suggs back on the field the whole defense can change. With Suggs in the other linebackers can be used as the Ravens had originally designed in the offseason. Upshaw and Kruger rotating in with find it much easier to rush the passer if Suggs must be double teamed on the otherside. Now that you have a real pass rush Smith and Williams can play press where they are more comfortable. All of this will lead to weeden having a much more difficult time than the previous matchup. Dawson is still their best player and should be able to put up 12 points for the Browns.

On Offense:

let's not overreact to the houston game. Every top team in the league has taken at least one bad loss this year (except Atlanta who is surely due) The offensive line was never the same after Osemele went down... The takles must be Oher and Osemele to be the most successful. They are not perfect - but there is no O-Line in the NFL that is. Even though I hear alot of quotes about the Ravens being "dominated" by the Cowboys, they never slowed the offense down... I believe there were only 2 or 3 3 and outs in the game. The Ravens still have 3 of the best offensive weapon s in the league with Flacco, Rice and T. Smith. now the Browns defense has proven to be pretty gritty against every oponent so far this year. however this Ravens team which will be sharp and rested after the bye should come in and really light up a young and tired and nearly demoralized Browns team who's "top" offensive threat has spent more time on the sidelines since these teams last met than anywhere else.

Final Score - Ravens 27 Browns 12

The Ravens can still hold their own with the other top teams in the AFC who all have plenty of problems of their own New England, pittsburgh, Houston and Denver are the real threats. houston was due for a win against the Ravens finally and the only one that really has a really significant matchup advantage is Denver .... Hopefully new England will take them out in thbecause they match up the best with them out of all these teams.

I think there's one thing we can all agree on: The Baltimore Ravens have the ideal bye week. This off week happens to be in the middle of the season, when the team needs a break, most, and has a LOT to work on.

But, luckily, the season's not even half-over. There's still tons of football to be played. The Houston Texans game was a loss, but it was only one loss. Use it as a motivation and make a statement against the Browns, next week, guys.

this is not an easy game for sure but we are pissed off and will be pumped to put it behind us after 2 weeks of that game in their mind. We always perform well after a bye and hopefully we gameplan a little better than the last time we faced them.

This will take a big effort by the offense if we're going to go anywhere in the playoffs by how we perform in the tough stretch coming up. the least we could do is beat the struggling browns and raiders to make it a bit easier.

If we have another terrible performance against Browns, do you guys think pees or cam will get fired?

I'm just saying if the D gives up another 200+ rushing, or the O struggles to put points.
