He is terrible, flat out.
Our defensive players suck, don't get me wrong. But are we going to pretend that Seattle's personnel is that much better than ours?
i've been thinking about that a lot. there are even more teams than seattle that are playing better D with less talent. San Diego, New England, Jacksonville, Arizona, just to name a few more. under Pagano, players like Kruger, McPhee, and McClellan looked promising last year and now they look like weaknesses. i doubt all of them are just playing like crap right now because they are bad players especially Kruger and McPhee who i believe had 12+ sacks as a duo last year and i haven't seen a sack from them yet this year.

After that game, is Pees terminal?

Because that was just horrid. No excuses... We'd have been better off fielding a college team today.
I couldn't agree more. There aren't a whole lot of options out there for a Defensive Coordinator. We might need to replace Cam first.

Why dont we have Tyrod Taylor play cornerback? He is the beast!! He would spark the defense right up! Oh yeah and Ray Lewis is so bad and Reed only got 1 pick six this year! We need Tyrod and we need to get Terrell Owens because he is really jacked and stuff.

This is turning into a Juan Castillo situation. That being said, I hope we don't wait a year and change before acting

if our defensive personnel is so bad, why were you people praising those players last year? McClellan, Jimmy, Kruger, McPhee, Cary, etc played to their best ability under pagano. have i seen a sack YET from kruger and mcphee despite them having 13 last year? are jimmy and cary staying with their man like they did last year? talent doesn't just disappear. I'm not sure where you're getting this personnel thing from. there are coaching problems on both sides and i'm not optimistic harbs or the FO will do anything about it.

Gee, I have no idea why people get the impression that the personnel sucks. Maybe one of the hundreds of posts in the forum about it will answer your question.

And who is "you people"?

The only guys you mentioned that I have ever liked is Jimmy and Kruger.

They havent played as well this year. I dont really have the explanation for it, but it is what is. Maybe it is because players that were situational pass-rushers and are now asked to play more downs so they are worn out. Losing Suggs for the first 6 games was clearly a large part as well. He makes players around him better. Same is true about losing JJ and Redding. We took for granted the dirty work they put in. Maybe talent doesnt just dissapear, but then again maybe it wasnt there in the first place.

Coaching won't change, don't expect the performances too either. That's just insanity. You can't expect a different outcome if you don't change the variables.

We've been very lucky (an understatement) to be where we are now (5-2). People don't seem to care - but there is a trend. Now I'm not stopping anyone from keeping their eyes and ears shut and ignoring the reality (that's your prerogative) - but it doesn't change REALITY.

If Pees gets canned after this season, I wouldn't mind seeing Ted Monachino (LB Coach) step in and take over the D. Look what he's done with Sizzle...

Defence can't be expected to post shut outs when they're being thrown onto the field every three plays. Offence barely gave them enough time to get a drink of water before they had to be thrown back into the fold; nevermind make any defensive adjustments. Need to step up all over the board.

Our TOP is down right disgraceful this year and I agree its part of the problem. But the defense always plays its own part in the TOP battle. They aren't stopping the run early on and they aren't getting off the field on third downs (even a lot of third and long instances).

he hasn't been a D coordinator anywhere so we don't know how he would scheme. i think he's the best choice from our current staff but there should be someone we could find.

Agreed, I wasn't saying its completely the offences fault; however, they didn't do our defence any favours last game. I think we need to accept that fact that our defence is going to be mediocre this year....if things were going to get fixed, they would have at least looked SOMEWHAT better, yet they continue to get worse, mind you I am familiar with the "its only week _______" speech, so I'm not totally ruling out a turn around. But our offence needs to score 25+ points/game and if they aren't scoring they need to at least get a couple first downs and let our defenders get some water, get some rest, get a couple of adjustments going on etc etc.

Yep. Also why the sugar no-huddle is a double edged sword. Sure it helps our offense at times, but if we are going into a rotten offensive stretch, the sugar huddle only brings back the D much quicker.

its really a gamble, if it works, we drive, if it doesn't the defenders may not even get a chance to unbuckle their chin straps.

I'm not a pessimist I just find the Ravens have NEVER fixed an issue mid season, we always seem to deal with the same weaknesses weak in and weak out every year, and it's incredibly frustrating. We've just always had such a good defence, that it wasn't too hard to watch, now it's just brutal. I haven't enjoyed watching a game since week 1.

Alot of people are saying it isnt the scheme here in Bmore......

My question, if Rex was our DC, would our D still be struggling??
Maybe, but probably not as bad as we have been. Though we might be giving up even more penalties...
