Ed Reed Injured Also?

74 posts in this topic

Seems like Reed has been hampered by some injury or another for the past few years now. Not a big deal.

He has been horrible at tackling for as long as I can remember. His should must have torn 5 years ago.

Reed looks hurt every time he hits someone nowadays. I always see him getting up slow. Hope it's not too serious.

This is about the last thing we need, at least the other players who have gone down have semi-competent replacements

People dropping all over the place. Amazing it only takes a week for the injury bug to strike your whole defense when we seemed completely healthy before then. exactly the side of the ball we could afford injuries to...

Torn Labrum in his shoulder. It shouldnt really affect his ability to cover, but he may be even more of a liabilty when it comes to tackling. Hopefully the front 7 and Pollard will be able to do the heavy lifting.

Pollard will have a field day against his old team. Thomphson time. We need to bring Pollard in to rush the passer more, he can get their.

Torn lebrum on his right shoulder. They say its a serious problem. But not necessarily painful.

Ngata has a torn MCL also.

Both expected to play meaning they arent 100%

Considering how much we have been depending on Ed Reed this year so far, this could be really bad news.

Young corp needs to step up and fill in for us. But they are not. It's a damn shame.

fyi, I miss Danny Gorrer. We could use some TALENTED depth in secondary.

Chykie Browns/Graham scares me.

Obviously Sean Considine is a BUST Free Safety. So there goes our depth on filling Ed Reed if it gets serious..

Wow, am I scared if Considine has to come in. I hope Chris Thompson would be the back-up.

Not sure why you think Chykie Brown/Corey Graham arent talented. Chykie had really nice coverage against Dallas, and that PI was a horrible call.

Same thing.

A sprain is just the ligament has been stretched too far, much like a rubber band when it loses elasticity. A tear is when the ligament is torn in half or a slight tear.

Agree with both sentiments. Graham was impressive in a limited role in Chicago as their Nickle, so it's not as if he is totally inept on the defensive end. While it was a very small sample size, he still allowed no TDs, nabbed 3 INTs and gave up a passer rating of just 33.3. I don't expect for this level of production to carry over into a larger role, but there's still promise there. The call you're referring to was certainly an iffy one, and Brown had solid coverage on the end zone play.

To be perfectly honest, a torn labrum is not that big of an injury for a football player when compared to other possible injuries. The labrum tear just means his shoulder has decreased stability so he could be subject to a more serious injury if he tackles wrong. This isn't to say he won't be in pain when he plays, because he will be and coupled with his nerve impingement it will not make it any easier, but he can play through this injury.

If you thought his tackling was bad before, it's going to get worse real soon because he's going to favour that shoulder.

A labrum tear is a 100% pain thing... and of course, his shoulder will be in and out a lot more often than he would like.

I played hockey through it. Sucked.

I know there's a few hockey fans here... Taylor Hall has had a fully torn labrum in his shoulder since before he was drafted. Never missed a game from it. Reed won't either, but yeah... his tackling will be garbage.

No thats not true when talking about ligaments. Sprains are almost always tears unless it is very minor, the severity of the sprain is based on if it is partial or full tear.
