Mike Holmgren to Retire, Joe Banner becomes CEO of Browns

11 posts in this topic

It seems Mike Holmgren is going to make it easy on new owner Jimmy Haslam and get out before he has the chance to fire him. Holmgren has announced that he will retire at the end of the season and now former Eagles President is now the new CEO of the Cleveland Browns.

I couldn't do any worse than they have been since they've been back in existence.

Going back through the mock drafts we've done my first round track record consists of: Daryl Washington (end of round one - Saints), Patrick Peterson (top of round one - Broncos), Rahim Moore (end of round one - Broncos), Robert Griffin III (top of round one - Browns) and Whitney Mercilus (end of round one - Browns). It's too early to judge a lot of them, but Washington's turned in to a terrific linebacker, Peterson's starting to develop in to the top corner people were giving him undue credit for in year one, Moore kinda sucks, Griffin looks like one of the top game-breaking talents in the NFL and Mercilus hasn't really played.

Well let's just say you have as good of chance to become their new GM as much as I have a chance to become the Eagles new GM.

Holmgren said he missed coaching. He may or may not have said that he was interested in coaching again, I don't remember. If he were to come back to coaching, I wonder who'd be interested and what impact it would make.

Considering how horrible has been in the front office, I doubt anyone is going hire him as a Head Coach. He ruined any chance he had of becoming a HC by taking this front office job in Cleveland and doing a very poor job.

Even though he failed at a front office job, he did do very well as a coach. He would probably want to be a head coach, but I don't know if there are any coaches on the hot seat that would be fired after this year, except for Reid or possibly Garrett, to give him a possible landing spot. There is a chance that he could come back as an OC. I think there are probably more openings for that. This is just all speculation from me, as far as him returning to coaching.
