You may say Makee Kemaoteu is better. But when teams run straight up the middle of the defense, that is not a Suggs type issue. When the Chiefs were just running outside becuase of the ends inabilities to set the edge, I thought "Suggs will fix that". Suggs coming back creates a domino effect allowing Upshaw to switch to the other side and go against easier lineman.

BUT after the Cowboys game that isn't the only problem. Teams shouldn't be able to run straight up the middle uncontested. That isn't losing Suggs or Dean Pees' fault. That is the nose tackles fault and that didn't happen when Cody was playing. Put him back as the starter.

Also if Suggs can really come back for Houston then let him. Arian Foster lives to run at the edge not up the heart of the defense. Having Suggs back and shifting Upshaw over will help defend the run game exponentially.

I don't get why Kemo got the start. Cody wasn't that bad last year. Kemo got manhandled.

Can someone please post the snap numbers for Kemo and Cody? NFL.com has Kemo starting every game this season but Cody has only one less tackle.

I've never been a Cody fan, ever...
But even I never understood why Kemo is starting over him.

I want a 4-3 defense to be implemented during bye.

Suggs Ngata McPhee Kruger

McClain Ellerbe Upshaw

We would have some great depth in Cody and art and our linebackers wouldn't be shabby either

First off Homeslice, Ngata is the more tradditional NT than Kemo. Second Cody is a fat blob who gets pushed around, cant block a gap, and sure as hell is not getting any penetration into the backfield. Your choices are bad and worse....choose.

Football Outsiders ranks our run D 6th at left end, 9th at left guard, 21st in the middle, 19th at right tackle, and 25th at right end. Guess where Ngata plays.

No no no no! Upshaw as a 4-3 backer?! Please... Are you kidding? Tell me you're kidding.

Great depth in Cody and Art? Haha! Okay I'll just pretend I don't see them get beat off the line every week.

You want an entire scheme implemented in a week? Loling some more!!!

Also, how does the formation change help a thing? It's the same personnel! It's the same people that can't shed blocks and the same people that can't get a pass rush and the same people that can't make a tackle. Tell me why a 4-3 will help! It won't!!!

On Cody, he is playing awfully right now. Just awful playing from him.

Kemo has been awful he is even getting sealed by TEs on blocks up the middle now.. Ummm really. But Cody has been just as bad, Cody isn't eating up blockers in the run or pass to create opportunities for others, I had hoped when we drafted Cody that he could be clogger like Sam Adams or the Goose, at the time I thought the defense might switch to a more of 4-3 base with Ngata Cody in the middle Suggs outside like McCrary and anyone else to play opposite lol.

Art Jones I'm not sure what he is doing on some plays. Never knew why Kemo was starting over Cody just like I'm unsure how Mcclain was pretty good last season has seen his PT drop significantly

Kemo and Cody are both playing worse than they're capable of, neither player is staying square thats why they're getting turned by olinemen. They're either haphazardly trying to get into the backfield or they're getting worn down by the constant rushing.

As bad as Kemoeatu has been would you really want Cody to start against the Texans? Chris Myers is way too quick for him, Cody was getting blasted before before he even got his hand up.

Kemo is an old guy. Maybe his age is finally showing because he's getting blown away for huge chunks of yards. Time for Cody to get more playing time.

I wouldn't mind seeing more of the 4-3. If I'm not wrong we run the hybrid where we use both of them. Maybe that could help vs the run and rushing the passer? Maybe Cody could do better in that scheme? Maybe we could clog the runs from the outside better. I know our guys will still have to tackle. I just really don't want to see Kruger AND Upshaw in coverage.

Upshaw/Suggs, Cody, Kemoatu, Ngata ---Jones,McPhee as primary backups.

Ellerbe, McClain, Kruger

Williams,Pollard,Reed,Smith

On paper, it still looks like a solid defense imo.
