Instead of just whining about the injuries and grieving, how about we discuss how the team could react?

The loss of Ray hurts us emotionally more than anything else. We can find another ILB who can make tackles and (attempt to) stop the run. The rumor is Ray is out of season, which would likely land him on IR. Does anybody know what Nigel Carr is up to? I think we need to bring him up from the practice squad now.

The loss of Webb is brutal, but we have more depth in the secondary than the rest of the defense. I'm not sure if it's quality depth, but Chykie played well today in my opinion. We may be seeing more of Asa Jackson and Graham with his loss. Webb will probably also be IR'd. What corners are out there who could provide further depth in the secondary?

Ngata's loss is the worst, in my opinion. He has been the lone bright spot in the front seven. He's had a MVP caliber start to his season. Our run defense has been atrocious and losing Ngata will be highly detrimental. I really have no idea how to replace him. We'll probably end up playing Arthur Jones at Ngata's spot and McPhee on the other side. We'll see more of Bryan Hall and DeAngelo Tyson now.

We'll see how it goes from here. Maybe some players actually show up and pick up some slack. Yeah, I'm looking at you McClain, Kruger, McPhee, Smith, Williams, and Cody. Time to get to work.

Chykie looked like an impressive rookie to me.
Between him and Smith I think we will be okay.

Lewis missed three or four games last year and Ellerbe (? Who was that? I am having a little brain fart) filled in marvously.

I doubt Nagatas season is in jeopardy.

With Webb on IR it makes it easier to get Sugges back on the roster.
David Reed comes off of PUP this week too.
I know many of us are not fans of his, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

I say, we go to FA.
EJ Henderson would be a good pickup to replace Ray Ray. At CB we have good depth. DT will be a problem. How far will you all be ok with going with a trade.

Suggs will likely replace Webb, for now.
Ngata is an unknown right now.
Maybe Bynes for Ray?

I think we'll stay in house for the immediate future and reevaluate in the coming weeks.

Promote Hamilton to a situational pass rusher and move McClellan to ILB.

That was old Albert and Jameel that filled in for Ray on the inside when he went down

I empathize with a lot of your sentiments, but I refuse to say "the sky is falling" until I see someone truly stops this offense. If they have to score 55 until Suggs gets back, I think they could achieve that.

Ngata is the best DT in the NFL, yet this is what the new trade deadline is for. Maybe Jacksonville, Cleveland or KC has a DT to help in the immediate.

Unfortunately, the Titans, Buccaneers, Bills and Lions won, so they aren't in full rebuilding mode yet.

Is Ngata expected to miss more than a few weeks?

Free agent MLB E.J. Henderson has intimated that he is in great shape.

The best thing to do is sign a developmental CB or safety off another team's practice squad (maybe put Ed Reed in the slot more), sign Henderson, and look to trade for a DT. This way, the new Ravens will be up to speed by the bye, and Pees will have lots of options.

E.J. Henderson is the only FA I can think of that might be worth considering. We won't be able to fix our problems through FA at this point in time, and I don't think we have good stock to trade outside of draft picks.

I was thinking earlier that we should activate Hamilton. The hype on him was his pass rushing more than run stopping, but I would do it at this point.

I say we make a trade. Doesnt have to be a big one, but get a guy who fits our defense well. I know we dont like trading draft picks and I hate it too, but if all these injuries are true this is going to be a really tough season going on

Assuming Webb and Lewis go on IR:

The first open roster spot will go to Suggs. Him returning will be HUGE

The second I believe should either A.) Bring up Josh Bynes to fill in at MLB B.) Sign a FA MLB or C.) Sign an OLB and move McClellan back to MLB.

Assuming Ngata has a sprained MCL, I think he'll be out 2-4 weeks. Let him rest against Texans, take off during the bye, and see what happens week 9.

The secondary doesn't need any additions....yet. They will be tested against the Texans but give them a chance. See how they do after the bye then determine the need for a FA.

This team's depth is about to be tested next Sunday, so don't write the Ravens off yet.

But do we even know who fits our defense well anymore?

I'm intrigued by Henderson. I'm confident that Oz can find a solution. Remember the Josh WIlson trade?

Andre Goodman is a FA? Hmm he's not a bad option if the CB's don't work out.

I think moving McClellan inside and activating Hamilton is a solid idea. With Suggs coming back soon, McClellan will be unneeded at OLB. That could stop the bleeding at ILB.

E.J. Henderson is a decent idea, but I doubt he'd fit in our scheme. He's a 4-3 type backer so I'm not sure how he does taking on and shedding blocks.

Still don't know what to do with the RE spot.

I hate to see Webb down for the season, but mostly for him on a personal level. He was headed for his first pro-bowl this year IMO. We have depth (and it is good depth IMO) at CB and with Suggs return, even if he is not 100%, it will help alleviate some of the pressure on the CBs. Suggs will still have to be accounted for even if he isn't 100%.

Ngata I believe will be fine. I don't think his will be anything season ending. He could possibly (just going by his lack of motion this game) miss the Houston game though. That will hurt some, no doubt.

Ray Lewis....oh Ray. We need him on the sidelines at least IMO. I'm not sure this defense in its current state can withstand the loss of his motivation and leadership. I can only hope that his injury is not season ending, especially since I believe it could be career ending if it plays out that way.

In short though, it is time for Pees to prove he deserves his DC job. Time for the vanilla zones and such to come to an end. He'll have to get a bit creative. With Foster up next, it's time he figures out how to help this team stop the run as well.

Edit: I did forget to mention one thing. I do so wish we still had Gorrer :(. And, I watched that game tonight and Houston isn't all that. I kept saying they hadn't been tested yet and that GB would be their first real test. We are more than capable of beating them.
