Merged: Ray Lewis Torn Triceps, Who Is Next Man Up

To lose a player at every level of you defense is crazy in it self. For it to be the best at each level is some kind of Steelers voodoo. I guess now we really get to see how great our depth is.

Probably none, but Lewis has been struggling to get off blocks and make the plays he is supposed to. He has missed a lot of tackles that should be made.

There are some players who are difference makers at ILB like Daryl Washington, Navarro Bowman, Luke Kuechly...
Gee, if only we had been so terrible last year we could have drafted low enough to get Kuechly.

Smh.

Kuechly has played like garbage this year.

He made one decent start last week but other than that he has looked lost out there. The Washington and Bowman examples I agree with.

I should point out though that we saw something as rare as a day off for Ray Lewis on that NFL.com article...classy comment from a Steelers fan. My brain did a little of that sparking not working cartoon thing for a second, but hey, I'll take it.

I know I'm gonna get negged here, but Ray Lewis hasnt been that impressive to me so far this year. It's devastating to potentially lose his presence, but his play has slipped. I think we will be ok. It's not like our defense can get much worse....
He's led the team in tackles. He might not be flashy but he's doing work.

I mentioned Kuechly because he happens to have a lot of TFL, but I really think we need a playmaking ILB that can play 3 downs and be a playmaker in pass and rush D.

Of course he leads the team in tackles. If he didnt then things would be really bad.

If dude cant go out on his terms and we did in fact just witness the last of Ray Lewis, this is a very, very sad day!

Hope for a full recovery and to see you back in purple in black in January!

Regardless of everything Ray still has;

57 tackles (44 solo), 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 1 tackle for loss, 1 pass deflection.

He also leads the Ravens in defensive stops (plays that constitute a failure for the offense) with 20.

Also, TE haven't done much vs this D. If Ray can't go it will definitely be a loss regardless of where the D is ranked this season.

Not total nonsense. I wouldnt go so far as to say Ray has been a problem, but he has missed a lot of plays he would have made in the past. Of course that is to be expected with age and frankly it's amazing that he has been so consistent for so long. He'll be missed, but losing Suggs earlier and Webb now are both bigger blows IMO.

I saw him pumping his right arm up and down on the sidelines. Any chance it's a partial tear and/or has a shorter recovery time?
That's why it reminded me of the 2007 season opener in Cinci when a similar thing happened to Ray.
Believe me gabe..you will not have a Ray out, Webb out and Sugar Suggs out and continue too win games. The Steelers have had the injury Bug since day one. Can't tell you when the last time we had Harrison,Troy and Woodley in the Gm continuous. You see where that is leading us. Down,down....down.

Our offense has been carrying us all season, so I dont see what is going to change. Losing Webb hurts, but we have a deep secondary at least. Suggs should be coming back in a couple weeks so that will be a boost both emotionally and on the field.

People that complain about Ray Lewis are obviously spending too much time in here and not enough time actually watching the games.
Ummm....DUH!

Well nothing is official. There is a chance that its not as bad as everybody is making out to be. But its better to fear the worse and be surprised.

The difference is Dick LeBeau. Your defense is still top 10 because your coordinator is capable of scheming around the losses and lack of a talent. Pees is not.

At what point do you have to tell a man he can't do what he used to ? Next year will (potentially) be his 18th? Season and coming off a season ending injury , people are so devoted to Lewis that they don't want to believe it has to end

More like the Ravens may be done for the season.

If the starters gave up back-to-back 200 yard rushing games, what will the back-ups do?
