Yes, the Ravens are not playing perfect. We all understand that. It's so infuriating though that everyone is talking down on this team.

We are 5-1, with a huge lead in the division. What more do you want? Appreciate it. If you can't enjoy what the Ravens are doing now, when will you ever be able to? This is the best it will ever get.

We seem to forget that the Cowboys are a professional team, too. You can't expect to dominate teams every time. Yes, they outplayed us. We won. End of story. All a team has to do is score more points. The rest does not matter.

We all love the Ravens. I understand the frustration. We have things to fix, but take a deep breath. The Giants looked like absolute crap last year and won it all, we are totally fine.
You are so wrong friend. We did not win. They had us beat but did not push the field goal through. In the last 2 weeks we gave up over 4oo yards in running alone. Luck has played a major role in our wins not our talent. Our defense is just nasty. We can stop no one period. To beat the ravens just run the ball, it is that simple. Your cheery, we won attitude just is denial that we have one of the worst defenses in the league and it needs to be fixed.

And to argue this fact is just another show of denial. Look at the numbers compared to the rest of the league. We have been LUCKY. I try to see th ebest in every game but today was a blatant punch in the face that we are hurting on defense and not even Suggs returning will help solve it. Williams getting burnt, the front line cannot stop the run and other teams know it. So please save the cup is half full crap for another day. Our defense is Horrible.

Even Ngata says it was horrible and he is on the field. Bu ti guess even he is wrong. He is just blowing it out of proportion right ? Our defense has seen better days and it is not getting better a slong as folks think like the majority here think. Why try to improve, a win is a win right ??

People don't make the connection that if we lost close games and were 1-5, people would be saying, "we're a few plays away from being 5-1." People treat close losses like wins and close wins like losses. THAT's why winning and losing is all that matters. People also just assume that if we spread that message, that we're automatically just going to slack off all week and not look at tape or fix things. Well shut up with that. Of course the team is working all week, trying to improve. They're just not as concerned with "almost" and "woulda, coulda, shoulda," and neither am I.

Ofcourse you try to improve and they are trying. But what drastic measure would you and others want? Would you just prefer all fans to be sour? This sounds like a great idea!

We can show how poor of fans we are by booing a 5-1 team when they come out on the field. This might actually help?

Nah, I think I'll stick with supporting our guys through the good and ROUGH.

Ray Lewis probably done. Webb probably done. Ngata hurt. Suggs coming back from an injury that ruins careers. I'm now left to trust the offense operated by Cameron and commanded by Flacco? Heh, why not. Does next man up still apply? At least we still have Reed. Hope I didn't jinx him. Let me end on a positive note, we did press this week.

so let me get this straight.....
If on the score board the number next to our team is higher than the number next to the opponent that means we LOST ?

This sport is SO confusing....

Our defense is historically bad. Our offense is historically good. So we roll the dice every time we go out there... Lol it sucks but honestly I'll take it if we keep winning.

Some times it's better to be lucky than good. See: Tyree, David; Swann, Lynn; etc.

Im calm, I just took a blood pressure pill. Heres what bugs me.

1. Tackling: or should I say lack of tackling.

2. Defense: Why cant our cornerbacks bump the oponents receivers for the first five yards to throw off their timing, and give our line time to get to the QB? WHy?

Thats all I have, and Im elated we beat Dallas, you are right, a win is a win, is a win.

One giant thing I took away from going to the game today. It was an early game, which meant my husband and I could take our two sons without worrying about getting out of downtown too late. I noticed my 4-year-old shouting at the top of his lungs, "let's go Raaaaavvvvvvvennnnnnnsssssss!" with the biggest smile on his face, for most of the game. The crowd would cheer, and that meant he had to raise his hands into a touchdown formation because he thinks every big play is a touchdown right now. Those moments of happiness he had that I got to experience didn't have any bearing on what was actually happening on the field. So from this Mama, thank you to the Ravens today for giving my son a thrilling experience.

Calm down is right. It was a win, and even if it wasn't pretty, a win is a win.

Exactly. Results are the final judge. A win is a win is a win.
Everybody is going to have theire oinion on this perspective. I for one do not get it. How can one dismiss the sheer luck of coming up with this win? The kick was definitely makeable, and the game should not have been that close. The coaching staff, and several defensive players should be ashamed of themselves. Mark my words...when the luck runs out we will not have the defensive discipline, plyaing ability, and coaching ability to do anything about it. We better hope the offense can score everytime they touch the ball.

How about the fact that the Cowboys got extremely lucky recovering an onsides kick that went right throught BA's legs and then were gifted 20 yards on a very questionable PI.

E The kick was definitely makeable,
as was the kick at the end of the season in New England last year and yet the Ravens watched the Super Bowl from the same place we did.
Our couches.
Bottom line is the only stat that matters is the score.

The kick was not the only play of the game. Ravens made plenty of plays themselves. In fact (I'll go out on a limb here), we actually made more plays than the Cowboys (the missed kick was a missed play) which led us to a 2 point victory.

It was ugly, we did enough to sneak out with a W. There was a game played up to the point of the kick which had us a 2 point lead.

On the bright side, this was supposed to be the number 1 passing defense in the league in yards per game and this was probably Joe's best game since New England.

These "pep talk" threads need to go away. This is a perennial playoff team, 2 AFCCG in last 4 years. We are contenders and we aren't playing like it. This pep talk glass half full is for teams like chiefs or redskins

So should we call the league office and tell them the cowboys should get the win and we will take the loss because you think we were lucky?

Good teams find a way to win.
I could care less about maybe, could have, should have, in the future, next week, any of that stuff. SCOREBOARD!!! 5-1.
Now we move on, and those that can't cry themselves to sleep tonight worrying about what might be and what almost was.

:) Thank you, and yes, I think he does sometimes. He told my husband he expects to go to Houston next Sunday to watch the Ravens too. When we asked him if he knew where Houston was, he pointed down to his seat and said, "here. Right here, and we're gonna win again!" We need to teach him a bit about geography. :D

We have about 6 of these threads on our board too. Personally, I would rather the a sucky winner than a sucky loser. But I do understand both viewpoints. The season is now but the post season is coming. I do the same thing. I project how my team is doing now and wonder what that will mean in the playoffs but I try not to get too worked up over it. I also understand enjoying the season and taking it one game at a time. I try to ride the fence between the two.

I know my team has problems and I know some of them won't be fixed but it doesn't take perfection to win a SB.

OP: Some fans have to ride the rollercoaster. Complaining about things on a message board achieves nothing but some people need to vent. You can't change how someone is going to be a fan.

Realists: Some fans live in the moment and celebrate because a win is a win. They try not to worry because it accomplishes nothing. They just hope for the best moving forward.

One of the reasons I like coming here is that it is amazing how often our teams are in sync. We have had matching records at times and right now both our team have struggled against "lesser" teams in our last 3 outings but still secured wins. We also have fans who think our record is not legit.

Anyway, thanks for beating the Cowboys. Good luck against the Texans.

Not playing perfect?!?!? They are not playing FAR from perfect. Somewhere on the far end of the spectrum from perfect. People are talking down about them because they are playing so poorly. Its pointless to get frustrated by the truth.

Yes, the ONE and only good thing is we are 5 and 1...so far. We keep playing like this and we will be lucky to be 6 and 10. I guess it is possible to continue playing this crappy and go all the way, but I doubt it.

What more do we want? How about a team that plays like a playoff caliber team? How about a defense that actually defends? How about CBs that seem to know something about covering their man? How about players that know how to tackle? I could list about a hundred "wants" and not scratch the surface. I am sorry, I cannot enjoy the calamity that this team has called football for the last three games and be satisfied. Hopefully you are wrong and it gets better because... no, winning is not enough. We need to win well if we hope to get that all mighty ring. In the playoffs, just getting by will never be enough. Any ravens fan that actually believes that this is enough is not much of a fan.

Certainly I do not expect to dominate every time, but how about once every three games? Better yet, lets at least look good occasionally. "We won, end of story" is just the most frustratingly naive cop-out I can think of. We cannot sit stupidly and hope that the other team will miss that field goal or fumble at the goal line so that we can win every game. That kind of dumb luck does not happen every game. End of story.

The Giants were absolute crap last year, but I do not follow the Giants. We are not talking about the Giants. This is Raven country. Here we expect and usually receive better from what used to be (and hopefully will be again) a better team.

To be fair there were some good things, No interceptions on Flacco's part, in fact no turnovers at all. The offense put up a respectable score. A few great plays, Jones' run-back for a TD, Williams interception, I am sure there were more, and as you pointed out, we did win. It wasn't a horrible game, but it does give me concern for the rest of the season. I just hope they can turn this thing around...or just stay really lucky and keeping playing like snot and continue to win.

I also want to add, remember our three game stretch against PHI, NE and CLE where we held McCoy, Ridley/Bolden/Woodhead and Richardson all in check? We're not going to give up 200 rushing yards, or even 100 rushing yards in every game the rest of the season. That is a promise. I really believe that this is the worst of it right now, even with injuries.

Look buddy, this goes beyond simple issues. I'm GLAD you enjoy watching the Ravens, we all do..we're on their message board. If you enjoy the fact that we are looking like garbage every week, I'm happy for you! Just don't come to my favorite Ravens message board and try to tell people to clam up because YOU enjoy the team and expect everyone else to enjoy it the way you do. It's crass, it's asinine and quite frankly I don't even know who you are .

A troll or a bandwagoner more than likely. And one that is naive as all heck. (see mods, trying to be clean)

Part of being a "fan" is being able to criticise the teams performance! Some of us just dont care about wins and losses, we care about the overall performance. For three weeks in a row the D has played horrible, first time in team history we give up 200+ yards rushing back to back. There is MAJOR issues on the D and there has been no improvement, and its ok for some to bothered by that.

Where in my post did I say that? I certainly do not remember saying it. I do not remember even implying it. Your inaccurate assumptions do not make me wrong. I, in fact agreed that 5 and 1 are excellent. But it is just 6 games. Six games against less than stellar teams, that nearly everyone here had chalked up as wins. (come on, don't lie, you all know you did) We do not have to get worse. (I hope we don't) We are coming up on some of the tougher teams of our season. We cannot play the next 6 games the way we have played the first 6 and hope to have the same record.

So yes celebrate our success so far but admit that its not coming up roses. There are some big problems that NEED to be addressed or may not see that positive record again.
