Calm Down, All Is Not Lost, etc...

Yes, the Ravens are not playing perfect. We all understand that. It's so infuriating though that everyone is talking down on this team.

We are 5-1, with a huge lead in the division. What more do you want? Appreciate it. If you can't enjoy what the Ravens are doing now, when will you ever be able to? This is the best it will ever get.

We seem to forget that the Cowboys are a professional team, too. You can't expect to dominate teams every time. Yes, they outplayed us. We won. End of story. All a team has to do is score more points. The rest does not matter.

We all love the Ravens. I understand the frustration. We have things to fix, but take a deep breath. The Giants looked like absolute crap last year and won it all, we are totally fine.

Wrong. Their running game looked like crap, and you really don't need a strong run game to win. Their defense wasn't anywhere close to being this bad. We might have the worst defense in the league.

They were ranked near the bottom in nearly all defensive categories. They got blown out multiple times. We are no where as a bad. It looks worse because we are comparing our defense to our usually dominant defense.

I think fans have every right to be worried and discussing it. It's not just off one game. It's off what they've seen so far this season as a whole.

No. No no no no no no no. I am TIRED of the blinders some people have on. Stop trying to freaking sugar coat everything! Last week this is all anybody heard on this board and a couple of others: The Ravens are fine, we got the W, stop crying blah blah blah. I tried to say that the Browns and the KC losses were indicative of a greater problem and didn't bode well for the future, but nobody ever wants to even talk about it. We're just supposed to say, '5-1, yay!!,' and never look into anything else. Well, I'm sick of it. This team looked horrible out there today save for the offense (most of the time). They hardly even got a chance to play today because the Cowboys were eating us alive. If you don't think that's a problem, great but don't tell other people to, 'calm down,' when A) there isn't really much of a furor on this board currently and B ) there really isn't a reason to calm down and that includes our fraudulent record. Our only saving grace thus far has been the offense, the fact that we've played a ton of home games early and the teams facing us have just straight thrown us the win.

Saying the Ravens, 'aren't playing perfect,' is the understatement of the year and clearly isn't worth any merit. Not playing perfect is fine, nothing is ever perfect. Giving up 100 yards last week in the first half or giving up chunks of yardage at a time all game to what amount to practice squad fodder is waaaaaaay across the road from not playing perfect. Things need to be fixed, and it's okay that people point out that all is not 'fine' in Ravens Land at the moment. No one is looking for domination, we're looking for our team to rely on more than luck to get them through every single game. They're looking for guys to actually make tackles that we know they can make. We're asking for our ST ace to know how to fall on a simple squibber. We're looking for our defense to do what we were doing at home, and that's screaming, 'WATCH WITTEN HERE, WATCH OUT FOR JASON WITTEN,' instead of just leaving the guy in a wide open space every time the Cowboys are in a tough spot. Asking for those things isn't whining or not being calm.

Football is meant to be enjoyable and fun. I love watching my Ravens, I don't let it upset me like it has upset some of you. I will enjoy the fact that we are at least the 2nd best team in the AFC (standings-wise) and that we have talent and the ability to correct some simple issues like missed tackling. I do not have blinders on. The Ravens never play pretty. NEVER. We always play like this. We play down and up to our competition. Enjoy the team. We are on a four game winning streak. Yes you can be concerned, but you all are acting like we are 0-6

Sorry but is not comparing this team to the giants as I don't care about making comparisons.
The team has holes to fix and I'm not going to think they will magically get better in the playoffs if we spend 16 games with hem as a problem..

Look buddy, this goes beyond simple issues. I'm GLAD you enjoy watching the Ravens, we all do..we're on their message board. If you enjoy the fact that we are looking like garbage every week, I'm happy for you! Just don't come to my favorite Ravens message board and try to tell people to clam up because YOU enjoy the team and expect everyone else to enjoy it the way you do. It's crass, it's asinine and quite frankly I don't even know who you are .

Yeah, it's not like the Giants allowed 400 points and finished near the bottom of the league in yards or anything....what's that?

Worst defense in the league? Really? The fact that you have two upvotes is a disgrace to humanity.

I agree that we can't put blinders on. However, if you are letting the concerns with the team OVERSHADOW the fact that we are 5-1, then you're going too far with it. The concerns our team has are important, but the 5-1 record is more important and deserves to hold greater weight in these discussions. If it doesn't then we (the posters, not the team) have a problem.

Okay okay lets try this

in 2006 we went 13-3 Our BEST season EVER.

Some one tell me in the win week one against Tampa Bay what did we do wrong ?

Week three gainst Cleveland we won by only one point?
Why was it so close ?

We lost twice to the Bengals one close one not so much. What did we do wrong ?

27 26 against the titans. What went wrong that game?

If no one has any asnwers I think I made my point

Our offense has been carrying the team and as fans I think we just have to shift our expectations for what the defense will be able to do. I still think the Ravens are one of the better teams in the NFL and should be there in the playoffs like we have for the past 4 years. The only difference is our offense is what is making us a legitimate team. Hopefully, Suggs comes back at some point and that will be a big boost to our D.

I can count about 29 teams who wish they had 5-1 records. Sure we are getting ugly on D. But it can't get much worse and we are still winning.

Next week we'll have a shot at being the top dog in the AFC. Just find a way to get the job done.

I'm not trying to be condescending. This will be my last post as I really don't want a fight. I just try to look at the positives. Yes we have many issues and are flawed and are not in Superbowl mode, but we have been in this position before. In 2008 we were 2-3, ended up 11-5 in the AFCG. In 2009 we had a three game losing steak and fell to 3-3, and still got to the divisional round. 2010 we were inconsistent, almost lost to a Bills team at home, and still got to 12-4. 2011 we lost to a bad Jaguars team, and struggled against the Cards. Everyone wrote us off for the Steelers game, and we won.

The point I'm trying to make is that every year we have these struggles where our team could easily self-implode and fall apart, but we don't. We get together, and make a push. I have no doubt this year will be the same. I'm not calling any of you bad fans, I just wanted to be positive. If I came across as anything rude I am sorry.

This is true. Enjoy when we win and feel a little sad when we lose.

This Team is still a work in progress on both sides of the ball. If we can get through the next few weeks who knows, it could come together at the right time.

I'll take these ugly wins, as long as we gel and play better in January.

I agree with everything. Yeah the Ravens are not a perfect team but this board expects the Ravens to go 19-0 every season, and if they don't then all hell breaks loose. Honestly, 5-1 with a big lead in the division and you all act like the sky is falling? At the end of the day, at the end of 60 minutes, it doesn't matter how we won, but at the end of the day as long as you get another W then that is all that matters.

I don't get into it much here anymore, but damn, we're one BS OPI call away from being 6-0.

"Play like a Raven" this year may be "just do barely enough to win" and I'm okay with it.

Do we have issues? Sure....ah, forget it.

I give up. Next week I expect it will be the same story and that win or lose we'll be dealing with the same problems on D and nobody will care and the people that do will obviously be 'over-blowing' it. Cool! What is with the, 'you all' anyway? Mostly everyone on the board is fully on board with the whole win/loss record being the only stat that matters mantra and only a few people that I've seen are arguing against it. I think it's hyperbolic to say that we all want the team to go 19-0, although it would nice. I'd like the team to put in a solid performance all around without having to ask why we're heaving it on third and two or why we're tackling with the gusto of a seven year old girl, but hey why question anything? I'll just take the blue pills guys.

No, see that's what I don't understand. We're one running play and a spiked ball away from 4-2, and a tipped ball away from 3-3 . See what I did there? People are okay with doing just enough to win and lucking out a victory? Why? How is medioc....ah, forget it.

This. All logical fans are extremely happy with 5-1, but when you're used to have a solid defense, seeing the last two games is disturbing considering what we're used to. At this point in the season, its not going to get any better, it is what it is, our run defense is easily the weakest component of our team's play. We'll just have to shift our expectations there and hope that all the other aspects of our team continue to come together and manage the wins we need the rest of the season.

I think we would all rather see a dominating win then the squeaking by wins, but what's the point in the constant complaining? I definitely think we need to make improvements on defense, but there are positives that can be found like the nice ST TD and the offense clicking.

I just don't subscribe to the negativity especially after an important win. We are in position to run away with the division title and still have one of the best records in the league. If we play this way every game, we might end up getting some losses, but we beat NE without having a dominant defensive effort so there is still a lot to proud of.

What do you want? This team is also one play away from 6-0. The team is what it is. They've faced adversity (worse adversity) in prior seasons and still compete for a Super Bowl. You just want the fans to give up on a 5-1 team? What is it you want?
