I'm pissed about it. I don't know why we're not trying to improve this offseason. Maybe Buck thinks he's got a answer for 1st but we don't have another Machado in the minors who can pop in and make a difference defensibly.

Well, maybe the wheels are turning for a better overall player then Reynolds.

Huh? Yes we had an amazing season, but that doesn't change how we are in the offseason lol. Players are slowly signing other places, and we've got nothing so far except a few guys from independent leagues and a second baseman thats exactly like Robert Andino lol. I'm not holding my breath that we will sign anyone major.

It should affect what we do this year, we were so close last year.

I'm sure it will sadly. I know we have some youth at pitching, but if we don't trade something away to get a top of the rotation guy, or an ace, we are in trouble. No idea what is taking so long to re-sign Saunders, but i have a feeling the longer that takes, the more he will be walking away too like Reynolds. I'm still not confident with second base, B-Rob could be done IMO. Casilli or Flaherty aren't the answers. And we still need a middle of the order bat.

I understand we don't sign big name guys anymore, because of all the times it messed us up, but Angelos has to dish out some money. Most teams in the AL have improved this offseason, heck, even the Royals have added some good pieces. No idea why we never really make a strong push for guys.

Chris Davis is for sure the everyday 1st baseman

I personally think that's a bad move. This guy is a power bat, but IMO... is a typical DH. He made even more boneheaded plays then Reynolds... Such as just randomly dropping balls.

Not sure when we'll see him but Bundy should be our ace. Maybe Matusz and Arrieta can get it together, if not use them in the pen. Gausman we probably won't see next year but atleast we got hope that maybe one day we'll have 2 top of the rotation quality pitchers.

I'm really excited to see how Chen does next year, was it a fluke? Will hitters figure him out? He was a great surprise and if he plays like he did last year, or even better, then we have another quality top of the rotation pitcher.

I'm also excited about seeing Wada play for the first time. Maybe Reimold can have a healthy season? Not counting on it, but theres still hope. I agree 2b is my biggest worry, and our greatest weakness. I trust Buck will make something work. I hope Chris Davis grounds balls at first every day until the season starts lol.

Also excited to see how Gonzo progresses, and if Hammel can have another good year. Also if Tillman can remain dominate, and if the promising Britton could get it together. One things for sure, and thats our bullpen is almost certain to not play like they did last year. I would love it if they did but it would be pretty hard.

Projected lineup:

McClouth
Hardy
Markakis
Jones
Wieters
Davis
Machado
Reimold
Roberts/Casilla?

I think Manny will be batting 4th or 5th by the end of the year.

Hammel
Chen
Tillman
Gonzalez
Britton

I'm so pumped already lol. Gotta wait a few months but this is the most excited I've ever been about the O's in the offseason, and we're not even doing anything!

I'd like to think the O's will still try to acquire another bat. LaRoche is still out there and there are trade options for Butler or Morse.

So glad we were never looking at Hamilton. I think he is a better Mark Reynolds and he can disappear at stretches.

Highly doubt we get Butler. Supposedly KC wants Bundy or Machado or 2 of our young pitchers.

And Supposedly LaRoche wants a 3 year deal, and we are adamant against giving him that.

Well then...that sucks. I guess I'll root for D.C. re-signing LaRoche which would free up Morse for a trade. Although I would give up 2 arms for Butler as long as they arent Bundy or Gausman.

I kind of want them to keep Matusz in the bullpen, and then still hang on to Tillman and Britton. I was impressed with them 3 last year. They finally started to show something. No idea how we will decide who to give up, unless KC has a preference. lol

Maybe KC likes Arrietta. I'm ok with moving on from Matusz as well.

Off-limits:
Machado
Bundy
Gausman

Would take a lot to trade:
Tilly
Britton
Arrietta

On the Block:
Brian Matusz
Johnathan Schoop
LJ women
X Avery

I don't think there's much there other than a silly rumor. If DD is as confident in our starting rotation as he says he is, Porcello (that's the name I heard) doesn't make much sense at all.

By Cash Kruth / MLB.com | 01/16/13 5:31 PM ET

The Orioles on Wednesday extended the contracts of executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette and manager Buck Showalter through the 2018 season.

The club will hold a press conference announcing the extensions at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Earl Weaver passed away last night. :(

God bless ya Earl, I really wish I could've see you manage. From the high praise you constantly recieve, and after learing more about you at last years statue ceremonies, I think it's safe to say you were one of the greatest managers ever.

I'm happy though he got to see the O's win last season, and get honored with all his former players when revealing the statues.

Ultra pissed I'm not at FanFest today especially after the passing of the Earl of Baltimore. Rest in peace and thanks for everything, Mr. Weaver.

O's signed Jair Jurrjens! I love this move. 2 years ago he pitched great and there were alot of people (including me) who wanted the O's to trade Jones for him. (There were rumors the Orioles were discussing it).

Last season he was hurt and didn't pitch good at all. He's still under contract for 2 years and he's only 26. I think it's a great gamble. If he could return to his old form then this is a steal!

It's gonna be a very interesting spring training regarding our starting pitchers..
- Hammel
- Gonzalez
- Tillman
- Chen
- Jurrjens
- Arrieta
- Britton
- S. Johnson
- Matusz?
- Wada

....I think the 5 at opening day will be Chen, Tillman, Gonzo, Hammel and Britton/Jurrjens.

Low risk/high reward. Could mean Saunders won't resign.

The Yankees are steadily declining, thus furthering the Orioles' chance of division supremacy. The Yanks have to pay Rodriguez $114,000,000 over the next 4 years, financially crippling them and giving them virtually no return on their money.
