So if you all are not worried a out what they did on Monday in an away game why should they feel threatened to have us at home after how we played the Chiefs? You all are crazy. We bounced em from the playoffs and they've never beat us. They will be out for blood in two weeks. I'm not scared of them but I am aware of what they are capable of. This should be a great game to what Flacco will do under duress. I hope Cam and the offense bring their A game that day.

For what it's worth, I have penciled this game and the one against the Chargers as losses when the schedule came out. I'm not saying that we won't win it, but they have a great potential to be a loss because it's on the road and they are still hurting over the playoff game. The Chargers game is also because it's on the road, it's sandwiched between two Steelers games, and they blew us out last season at home. I always hope for the best, but I still think that we need to be prepared to accept whatever happens.
Also the Chargers didn't punt the ball against us, they just came right down the field and scored every ball position. With the D we have now, doesn't look good.

Did anyone else notice that Andre Johnson looked a little gimpy in that game last night against the Jets?

This will be a 2TE game for sure. The Ravens have to mix and match with that defense. Using Dickson and Pitta will hopefully force them into more base sets and that'll put Dickson, Pitta, and Rice against LBs and Safeties. That will put Q and Torrey both 1on1withoutshould much safety help.

Then if we can find success with this, Dickson and Pitta can be split out wide, in attempt to create rushing lanes. We have to have success on 3rdthe down in this game and we must start fast. The defense plays good in spurts, and the offense could really help them by holding onto the ball on 3rdus downs.

I see this game going much like the Pats game. It'll be a physical hard hitting emotionally charged game. I think this game will live up to the hype, because both teams are top AFC teams imo. I actually think that the Texans will lose to the Packers and both teams will be 5-1 and this game will go a long way deciding the top 2 seeds

I am not doubting the Ravens at all. It seems like the Ravens are just matching the game level of their opponents. If you think about it, they can play big now and later, they can lose their strategies. As for me, they are just being smart, it seems like they are just preparing themselves for the upcoming tough road - Superbowl...
as fans we could talk about who we'd want to see in the Super Bowl. It doesn't make a difference. If someone starts a thread talking about Pittsburgh what does it matter, let him and the others that want to talk about it, talk about it. It won't affect how the ravens play Dallas.

Fans can get ahead of themselves, it won't affect the outcome of anything, so it's pointless say, why talk about Houston when dallas is next

pointless to who? you? smh! of course we fans can talk about whatever we want to talk about in here...this is a forum bruh! and course, what we say in here has no bearing on how the Ravens players actually play! but, if I chose to say simple "non-threatining" and "non-antagonistic" words like houston who? dallas is next! that is my choice! and for the record...i didn't say "why talk about houston when dallas is next-you did!" and for you to highlight, qoute and make a big deal out of that simple statement of mine is baffling to me!

I realize that we still haven't played Dallas. I realize that we shouldn't be overlooking the Cowboys. And I realize our team hasn't even started to think about Houston. But after watching Houston escape the Meadowlands I couldn't contain my angst to start talking about this game a week early.

The perfect Texans (currently 5-0) will be waiting for us at Reliant Stadium. They'll be looking for revenge after we bounced them out of the playoffs and they'll be eager to make a statement against an AFC power. We have our work cut out for us but I think this game is winnable after seeing the game tonight in New York.

I'm not downplaying the importance of our division games or the ever looming games against hated Pittsburgh, but I sincerely believe that this is the game of the regular season for this 2012 Baltimore Ravens team. At this early stage of the season they are the most complete team and may very well give our team the greatest test they'll get all season long. Knocking Houston from the ranks of the undefeateds will be a daunting challenge. But a challenge I think our squad is prepared and eager to face.

Their defense has weaknesses. The Jets found success with quick slants, screen passes to their backs, and even made a long touchdown down the seam to a no-name tight end. If we expect to produce points against Houston we'll need to find ways to neutralize their pass rush and stop the likes of JJ Watt and Brooks Reed in their tracks. Our inexperienced offensive line will face their greatest test to date but I'm optimistic that they can hold off the rush long enough for Joe to get some throws to Rice, the tight ends, and Q in the slot. Their secondary has its flaws and if we play our game they can be exposed.

Their offense is a major concern. Foster is a machine running behind one of the very best lines in the league. A line that churns out rushing yards and has only allowed THREE SACKS all year. With the youth on our front 7 we'll need to rely on Ray and Haloti to command their troops with precision in both pass rushing and run stopping. Gap integrity will be crucial against the zone blocking scheme (a scheme we should be accustomed to since it is a system we now implement). The positive is that Schaub continues to show some inconsistency. He made some suspect throws tonight and what I saw to be an ugly interception to Cromartie. But there is always Andre Johnson roving the field for a back breaking reception. The likes of Cary and Jimmy will need to be on their A-game and we may very well need an interception from Webb or ED.

Their special teams might be susceptible. New York returned a kickoff for a touchdown, faked a punt for a 4th down conversion, and SHOULD have had an onside kick recovered. There isn't a doubt in my mind that the special teams coordinator in Harbs is fast at work thinking of ways to keep us in the game if we need a big play from our special teams.

We have insider information with the likes of Leach, Pollard, and Jones on our roster. Take it for what it's worth but these guys may very well know a tell or two that could swing the game in our favor.

The Texans are going to come out pissed off and firing on all cylinders against our guys. Their dome is going to be deafening and we'll need to be prepared. We escaped Houston a couple of years back off of a walk-off interception return and I expect another dog fight this year. I think we'll need a 'perfect' game to come out of Houston with a win, and I think that is more than doable for this team. For us to make it to where we intend on going we have to beat the best. That started with New England and will continue in Houston against the Texans. This game is huge as it has enormous playoff implications and tiebreaker potential.

Here's to rolling over Dallas, using that momentum to play the Texans with our brand of football, and head into the bye at 6-1. GO RAVENS, and GO O's.

I watched that game last night also and what really would have helped Sanchez was a lot of Pump fakes because of J.J Watts.
Agreed. Watt was jumping all over the place swatting down balls. Joe's height will also help him with his vision and identify where the passing lanes are and Watt isn't.

You're definitely right, the pump fake could freeze their defensive line.

Speaking of AJ, we need to put Webb on him, he shut him down in the playoffs, he can do it again.

I overheard during the Jets game that they're kind of preserving him, having him not play that many downs so he can be fresher later in the season. Maybe that'll change against us but I expect to see plays where he's not there.

Who we really need to cover is Dressen and Daniels.

Why not? Dallas may not concern some of the fans where as Houston does. I know I am a lot more concerned about the Texans. Even if we play at the less than stellar level we have been playing at, we could still beat Dallas. Anything less than an "A" game and we lose to Houston.

Ah, didn't know he left this year. Daniels is enough of a threat though. And their fullback is practically a TE.

To quote Gruden in week one:

"You know what I DONT hear? The Ravens shaking in their boots!"

In other words, to the casual fan like me and you, we look at this schedule and say, "Conspiracy! The NFL is setting us up to fail!"

But those boys in purple look at that schedule like fighters target other fighters on their level. Teams like this bring out the best in us, and you better believe that Houston and San Diego are every bit as concerned as we are.
Fear isn't in our vocab. The NFL does that to all good teams. To quote the first batman movie.
"What do you suppose that is"?
"Damn good televison". This will be a hell of a game, but after this week we won't let anyone run on us like that again. We didnt lose our run D when we lost Suggs.

It'll be tough... but there's nothing wrong with that. A loss now doesn't end the season and a win doesn't win the Superbowl.

The big thing in this game in my mind is that as much as everyone gets so excited about Matt Schaub not playing last year.... there's a reason Houston didn't miss a beat without him. Most overrated player in the league. Great OL, great RB, great D, top 5 receiver... they'd look reasonable with Boller at QB. I think he can be baited into mistakes, and if we can get into a shootout in this game where they shy away from Foster and try to win it on Schuab's arm, we're sitting pretty.

And with the way Green Bay is playing this year, even if Houston is 6-0... they'll be 6-0 having beaten nobody.

Even without Cushing the Texans are formidable on defense. Good d-line, backers and DBs. Schaub is okay but a healthy Foster and AJ? man this has got to be the best team in the NFL right now.

If we can knock them off in their house week 7, I'll be watching the Sportscenter highlights till dawn!

I hate to utter these words...but I have to agree with this post. I already accounted for two losses and here and to split the Pitts game. So, 12-4...I's STILL take that. ;)
