Another guy I could see growing into a leadership role is Haloti Ngata, he's been impressing a lot of people and while he might not be the in-your-face-type guy I could see him growing to bb a leader on the field as he becomes the ;) grizzled vet on the defense.
i could see that man being the next leader

A leader by example for sure, but he's sooooo quiet!

We all wont know what we have until Ray Lewis retires. Some of you may already have chosen someone who could possibly replace him but I say no. No one will ever even come close to filling his shoes as well as role as a leader. No one in the NFL has played with his passion and intensity thats currently playing in the NFL now. Thats right. I cant name 1 person who can do that. Ray Lewis by himself makes people who are near him play better and hes not even trying to rally people. He just tells them whats going to happen.

"Follow my lead and Ill get you there."

Does that sound familiar?
You just proved my point!

Who is the Defensive Leader for the Steelers, Giants, Redskins, Eagles, Bucs, Titans, Panthers, Cowboys, or Bills! I just named the other Defenses in the Top 10 in the NFL! I couldn't tell you the Defensive Leader for any of those teams, or if there even is one! If you ask anyone who knows anything about football, anywhere in the country, who the Leader of the Raven's Defense is, they would not hesitate and say Ray Lewis!!

I just think you are trying to name a successor to a position that will never be filled again! Sure, someone will have to call the signals, I just don't think anyone will be the "Leader" of this defense ever again! It will be a shared role by whoever the Vets happen to be at the time.

You seem to forget, Ray has been the Leader of this Defense since about his second or third year in the league, despite being one of the youngest players on it! What he did was pretty much unprecedented!
I never said the next leader would be a Ray type of leader, so I don't know where your getting that from. Most teams (some teams are allowed to play without a defense!) have defensive leaders, just not at the level of Ray, and thats the type of person we are wondering that comes up next for us.

Oh man, I retract my statement, I thought Ed was 28. I can't believe he's 30, doesn't it feel like we just drafted him out of Miami?

Ray is going to be here another 3-5 years as others have stated, which is an eternity in football terms.
I dont see anyway that the Oz lets Bart walk....maybe Suggs just because of salary cap issues, when I answered I thought of who will lead the team in the future and Ed Reed is also becoming old

in football terms so I dont really think he is a good choice.
Suggs is having his best year as a Raven! I don;t think we should let him go.
After Ray leaves, it will be Ray Lewis. We are going to hire him as a linebacker's coach, he'll still get everybody pumped up.
I really hope so.

I understand and agree with you! There is only one Ray Lewis. NO ONE will ever replace him. He is our legacy. I hope he stays with the team as a coach, but I believe I saw a quote where he said that he has kids to coach! Love Ray GO RAVENS

Calm down people. Lewis is great. But to say that he will never be replaced is naive and pessimistic. Ray is the best backer of all time, but before him, don't you think people we saying LT would be the best ever, or Butkus?
Humans evolve. That's how the 100m Record (along with every other athletics record, and virtually all records of any discription) is repeatedly broken. Ray's special, but there will be better. Who's to say that we won't find him?
It's too early for me too say
I agree, after that 5 year extension, thats a long time to find a replacement, and you dont know if Suggs or scott, will be with us, and you also dont know wether their talent could go, or just not play well (Heap for example)

So we will see, I am sure in 5 years we will pick up a LB in the Draft... HOPEFULLY another Ray Lewis.(I doubt there will ever be another though)
Who do you guys think will be the locker room motivator when Ray leaves?
Haoli Ngata or Terrell Suggs with Ngata being young and a huge force in the middle and gonna get even better, and Suggs still young and also going to get better
