Was our win verses the Chiefs a good sign?

I love close games and a blow away is far less entertaining. When it is a close game i watch every play intently while in a blow out i am just watching here and there.I also think a close win shows more character on both sides of the ball. You can see who will start to phone in their efforts and who wants the win more.

We made great halftime adjustments and stuffed the run and our D was just intense. The offense however had some issues in all areas but all teams have those days just ask any Green Bay player.

Can't agree with that 100%. Our blowout of the Steelers last year is one of the best times I ever had at the stadium.

When you Play as Bad as you can an still Win the Game it says something about your Team.
It might say more about how bad that other team was.

Same with beating Cincy this yr.
I've seen enough close games because of lack of offense
Now I want us to dismantle teams and show dominance all around.
Games like that can be fun.
A game like what the offense did week 1 and a defense performance like what we did to NYj the last time we played would still be a good game to watch.

Last year we lost those games. Yesterday we won. Good sign.
Don't think it's a good sign
Yes we won but it still makes it look like we play down to the opponents instead of mentally being focus and producing

I don't like the way we played yesterday on either side of the ball.

Here are the bright spots though:

Special Teams was ON POINT. Koch had a few monster punts, the coverage teams on kickoffs and punts were great, and Tucker was perfect.

Flacco IMO played very well outside of taking a few sacks, looking back at a few of them though, they had arms on him before he could actually throw it away so a few of those were on the Oline too. He can't throw AND catch the ball. If receivers don't drop 3 of those balls, He could have potentially been in the 250 yds range because all of them were likely to be a 1st down.

Rice quietly had a big game on the ground..over 100 yds on only 16 carries.

Leach had a great game blocking

There is definitely room for improvement on Offense still, but we've already seen what Torrey, Q, and Jacoby can do and I have faith that they'll get back on track.

DEFENSE: Kruger had probably his most solid game of the year. The stats after the first half were disgusting, but we made the adjustments at halftime and shut them down after that.. That would be the only silver lining on D other than the Secondary played well.

So here's my final take on it. BAD teams lose games like that. We couldn't catch passes, we ran ENOUGH but we couldn't get into the end zone, penalites on offense ect.. but we found a way at the end of the game to put it away when it looked like Quinn might actually have some more success passing than Cassel did. Again, KC is a pro football team too that gets paid to win games, so ON THE ROAD, despite all of the mistakes we came out with the W. I'll take it happily.

One of the toughest stadiums to play in, playing against a very good secondary and one of the premier pass rushers in the NFL. Like a lot of people said, last year that's the kind of game we lost. This year we are one judgement call away from being undefeated, and we've taken on some tough teams in tough environments (at Philly, at KC, etc.). We've played IMO 3 elite secondaries in Philly, KC, and Cleveland. Last year when we played the elite secondaries i.e. Jacksonville, Tennessee, Seattle, etc., it didn't go so well. People seem to forget that our passing game actually matches up well with a team like Pittsburgh or New England because they don't have the personnel to match up with our receivers, where some of the teams we have played DO have that personnel. Besides, if the last couple of years have taught us anything, it's that your regular season record is meaningless come playoff time - nobody thought a 9-7 Giants team or a 10-6 Packers team or a 9-7 Cardinals team could make the Superbowl, but all three did, two won, and the other one lost on a last second miracle play. I think the real test though, will come at Houston in a few weeks - top to bottom they are probably the most complete team in the NFL.
If Joe could throw to Joe then our offense would be amazing. Joe throwing to a 6'6 240+ pound target would be awesome.

Though it would be the most awkward-running looking WR ever.

Playing at Arrowhead is no joke...and we all know Jamaal Charles is one of the best in the game. So all these cats complaining about not blowing out KC need to stop cryin'! Ravens won by pounding the ball. Add that to the passing game we've had all season and it looks great to me! Go Ravens!

Well considering that we would have lost that game last year, I guess so.
We did lose that exact game. It was @ JAX and that late touchdown wasn't called back lol.

Harbs seemed freaking furious in the postgame press conference. Sore voice and everything. He was probably yelling his behind off like a mad man.
With the Cowboys we play against a team, that tries to come back from a horrible loss and wants to prove, that they are a good team, while the Ravens just fought for one of the ugliest victories ever and want to prove, that they can do better. Book it. Cowboys at Ravens will be the best game of this season.
This.

We have improved (so far) on the perceived let down games. It may not be pretty, but getting the W when we otherwise may have gotten an L is a gross understatement of what we have improved in.

Older Raven teams would have caved and allowed Charles, Bowe to score.

Heck ,the only one we lost - the Eagles game - can be attributed to the incorrect nullification of Jacoby's 2nd TD.

I'll bet the 15 - 1 Packers last year would have been happy with what we did yesterday. How can a win be anything other than a good sign??

Great teams find a way to win that game. Good teams find a way to lose.
These and these.

I don't know how anyone can overlook a win. Like I said, it's not like the NFL hands out or prioritises style points...

Especially after we went through that 2007 season. I think we've been spoiled by winning games and lost sight of how important each W is.

Then Philly has the most character of any NFL team Lol. At the end we will take the W any day but the way we played was just discouraging. When is the last time our D looked that soft vs the run??? The only time i remember it being that bad was when we played the giants like 2 years ago. I just hope the defense gets better week to week KC gave us that game the way i feel is the ball rolled our way. With all that being said WE WON!!!!!!!!!! YYYYYEAHHHHHHHH!!! Lol on to the Cowboys.

The only thing that kind of concerns me is that the team had 10 days following the lack luster performance on TNF vs the Browns, and I hoped with extra time the team would come out crisp on both sides of the ball. But realistically thinking I thought the Chiefs would gain a lot of yards but not points but not by pounding us on the ground like they did.

There is a positive that we won 2 games with below average performances and maybe those were our 2 bad games to get out the system. Of course it would have been even better to do like the Giants and start off bad then pound the life out of a sorry team.

I was watching the Texans tonight for a little. Our o-line will have its hands full with the Texans D. J.J. Watt was all over Sanchez's screen passes and checkdowns. And they have some monsters that can crush the ends of the line and bear down on the qb. A huge challenge for our offense. But if we play like they did vs the Bengals and the Brady Bunch, we will be hard for even the mighty Texans to beat. Go Ravens!

Were we watching the same game? Kickoff and punt return coverage was not good (memories of last year). Chiefs had punt returns for 41, 19, and kick returns for 25, 20. The rest of special teams was just fine but that needs work.

25 and 20 are on the short side for kick returns bud.
