Time to try McKinnie at LT !

47 posts in this topic

After watching Osemele for the last two games ,it's time to put McKinnie at LT and
move Oher back to RT.

Osemele is getting killed by pass rushers and is gonna get Joe killed it it continues .
He really needs to play guard for now .

KO is struggling with penalties, but he's not getting destroyed by pass rushers as consistently as you might think. Plus he helps out with the running game. I wouldn't be at all surprised if that switch would lead to worse rushing offense.

You have to understand something.. If Oher is struggling against speed rushers, McKinnie would get SHREDDED by them. Not to mention he can't keep with the fast paced offense.

I might agree, but then again we would be setting our offensive line back from progressing (for the future).

They are doing enough to get the job done now. They are only going to improve from here.

Yep, he is correct. If anything we need to get Reid back and put him a RT. Osemele looks better at guard.

I wonder what's going on with him.. Has he been activated this season?

Osemele has been better than oher so far so this is a horrible idea. Oher gets beat off the snap. KO's problem is just not sustaining blocks long enough to develop big plays. he has impressed me so far. this is more of a playcalling issue where big plays aern't there yet we stick with it and end up with sacks. McKinnie is not the answer anyway. our no huddle would be a disaster with him in there.

I don't know if I agree with this . McKinnie is huge and difficult to get around and while he might be a liability in the run game ,
it might be worth a try .

Don't be surprised if after watching the the Chiefs game film, they don't give McKinnie a little playing
time.

He has been injured. He would've been our starter if it werent for the calf injury.

If I'm not mistaken Barnes killed him with speed, and so did Freeney. I know Big Mac is a beast against power rushers and inside moves, but he's just too slow for the speed rushers like Hali and Cole.

IDK, I think he is better than Osemele tho (no offense to Harewood) but I think he is more suited at guard. If anything switch Harewood and Osemele.

This. Oher gets beat by speed and has giving up as much as the op thinks osemele has.
His suggest is simply wrong.

Yeah the report I saw from Team Stream had Deonte Thompson inactive and he wasn't .

Time to look at another news source for inactives!

And what happens when McKinnie struggles against not only speed rushers but as a run blocker? Oher and KO have taken their lumps the past two games, but bringing in an ageing vet that was beaten out in camp wouldn't be wise.

Time to end this thread!

Because nothing is going to change on our OL.
[/quote]

If Osemele continues to play the way he did today there will be change on the oline.

People complained endlessly about continually reshuffling the line. Wah wah wah can we keep the same line? Wah wah wah keep Oher in the same spot. Now we want to move people around again. So much logic! How about we stick it out and let the line develop? The line is doing alright. They're giving the running backs holes, and aside from a few plays, they give Joe ample time to get the ball out. Keep the same line-up. Truthfully, the line is better now than it was last year.

Remember those big runs Rice had today off left tackle? Yeah? Those don't happen if McKinnie's in. I can almost guarantee that.

Oher and KO had a rough day against some great pass rushers. I'll say two things in their defense. Cam got away from the run game a little bit in the 2nd quarter which makes pass protection harder. Second, one or two of the sacks could be called coverage sacks. I have faith. The oline had a solid day for the most part.

Stay off my back. I was clearing up a bit of confusion that someone had in a thread that wasn't going anywhere. The last thing we need is a wannabe mod.

I think a combination of changing passing plays that require short throws would help in pass protection. Then again that requires changing the passing plays by you know who.

If we were to take Osemele out, I think we would see a drop in our rushing production. Rice has quietly but surely been very productive on the ground, even with the fewer carries he's been given. The right side of our line with Osemele and Yanda is run blocking very well.

Osemele will get better against the pass, he's still learning.

We're going to face face more speed rushers during the course of the season, what I don't get is why we don't give the ball to Rice when our tackles are getting torched?
