I would take Mike Nolan over Rex - but he's poised for another HC run. Or Clarence Brooks from within.

I like your play on words in the end there. :D

Anyway, comparing Ryan to our DC now is like comparing Pees and carrots.

No way Rex would want to come back or the Ravens would want him back. Too much bad blood between Rex and the ownership. The Redskins will pay Rex a boatload of money just like they did with Marvin Lewis.

Rex Ryan will be fired at the end of this year. I'm sure of it. No one will hire him as a HC. He is terrible. But we can't deny that he was a great DC. Should we pursue him and do you think he will be too prideful to return here as a DC?

Rex wouldn't get fired. The Jets have actually overachieved since he has been Head Coach. Look at there team and to think they made back to back AFC Championships?

Sean Payton Looks Like An Decent Option !
As much as we'd all love that, Payton won't be settling for anything less than a head coaching job, and a high paying one at that.

I'd love for a top 5 defense...
I too would love to have a top 5 defense and defensive players explode under Rex... We seen it before and we would probably see it again!

I first answered no way to Rex coming back but it may be a choice soon. No one is happy with Pees and Rex was our best DC next to Marvin Lewis. I might have to think hard on asking him back. You have to admit that the guy was a wizard and kept most offenses confused. He has a great competitive streak and hates to lose as you see. I might have to vote yes for him to come back. Right now we need the little extra and i think he could help out a whole lot.

I dont think Rex would be cancer if he was a the D Coordinator again ... I'd welcome him back in a heart beat right now. Great D coach, terrible head coach.

We can't bring Rex in because Rex left under such a bad circumstance. He thought he was passed over for the HC job, which he was, he decided to stay a year with Harbs to help him along. Got a HC job the next year, then just began to run his mouth about Baltimore.

He's going to get another DC job if he gets fired from New York. Unfortunately it won't be with us. We can't hire him back until Harbaugh and every player he coached in his time in Baltimore are all gone.
totally agree and was going to say the same thing. You know it still stings with him not getting the HC job here so there is no way he will come back with his tail between his legs and start answering to John!!

i personally think we need to give pees to the end of the season before we reach a verdict. im seeing improvements and i think by the end of the season we will be seeing good things on defense. everyone cant get their defense up to speed on their schemes and everything like pagano. pees is pretty unconventional so i believe as season goes on we will improve more and more

Rex + Ozzie - Cam = Superbowl.

Guess you missed the 2005, 2006, 2007 seasons.

As HC and durring the Flacco era. We didnt have a QB, RB, recievers or fullback we have had the last 5 years.

I'd take Tebow over Rex at this point.

The man literally cannot admit he's wrong. That's bad when your QB is bottom of the league and you keep touting him as a winner... Maybe Rex doesn't know how to recognize offensive vs defensive talent?

As a head coach he is horrible. He reminds me of Brian B. to much and cannot admit and let go of his choices good or bad which is hurting the Jets like it hurt us with Boller. Rex's pride is the one thing that i like as far as being very competitive. I hated playing against sore losers but their mind was one track and that was to win and i think we lack that from our coach's. Don't get me wrong Harb's is fair but who would not want his brothers drive and need to win on our sidelines.

I have to dig this back up, after tonight's performance by the Jets, I will not be surprised if Rex is fired tomorrow. Is there anything Rex can do other than a DC? Like Linebackers Coach or DL Coach?

He could probably do both, but his area of expertise is with the defensive line.

We won't sign him though.

If Rex Ryan was rehired, he would eat all the sweets and Terrance Cody would not gain anymore weight.
JK
Id take him back... Pees is too conservative for my liking

We've had four DC in four years. This is taking a toll on our defense chemistry.

I am satisfied with sticking with Pees and allowing our young guys to develop.

I gotta stick with the older Harbs. Jim is clearly the younger brother in that he shoots from the hip and is prone to gaffes. This Kaepernick situation is going to blow up in his face. He just reinforced what the locker room had to start to think when he went after Manning and then walked it back--he plays favorites and is prone to impulsive, short term decisions.

Back to Rex, I've said it before but the man is 0% a Harbaugh guy--flashy, arrogant, and undisciplined. Harbs has spent 5 years dismantling the culture Rex helped create... I just don't see us bringing him back.
