Merged: If Rex Ryan Was Fired...

145 posts in this topic

Say the defense finishes around 20th in yards top 10 scoring and turnovers. If Rex was fired how would you feel about brining him back? I wouldn't mind and feel he's a great coordinator. I even think he's not that bad a hc but if you look at the Jets his personnel has gotten worse every year he's been there. Before you think I'm knocking Pees I do think the defense starts to click with more time in the system and him learning where is best to put the players.

Does anyone feel like he's another Mattison? Why do I keep getting this impression?
I'd love for a top 5 defense...

Ugh. I hope he's out of here the week of the bye if he doesn't improve. There should be a good D-coord around somewhere by then. That said, I'd much rather have Harbs turn up the heat on him and see him turn around the defense.

Pees is at blame to an extent but putting all the struggles on his shoulders is a joke. With all the personnel the D has lost, it was always going to be a struggle coming into this season.

That is my fear. How I miss Pagano

Pees is doing the best he can with what he has to work with. Figure Pagano had alot more weapons to work with ......No Suggs, which is the big one, no Jarrett Johnson, and what 3 or 4 more guys on top of it all. Give the man a chance will ya

I knew people would mention the locker room division. I say no cause now we have a competent offense. I think he's also been humbled by his experiences. And though we were top 5 with Mattison why don't any of you mention how many 4th quarter leads were given up under him as well?

Also, I'm really not saying we should fire Pees. It was more of if Rex is available bring him back and maybe move Pees back to lb coach or an assistant.

Dean Pees is fine. These Greg Mattison comparison are ridiculous.

Not at all! Their philosophy and play calling is nearly identical.

I'm not saying fire Pees either but we are 3-1 and he has done well with what has to work with. I expect many people to be supporting Pees once Suggs comes back and we have a pass rush again.

We can't bring Rex in because Rex left under such a bad circumstance. He thought he was passed over for the HC job, which he was, he decided to stay a year with Harbs to help him along. Got a HC job the next year, then just began to run his mouth about Baltimore.

He's going to get another DC job if he gets fired from New York. Unfortunately it won't be with us. We can't hire him back until Harbaugh and every player he coached in his time in Baltimore are all gone.

Pees hasnt even come close to deserving to be replaced as Cam has. Hell NO one deserves to be fired more than that sac of bones.

I firmly belive Cam is the reason the ravens do not have one or two rings in the last 4 years.

I would rather have a full bee hive shoved in my drawers and then hit with a wiffel ball bat than have Rex back with the Ravens.

Okay so maybe not quite that bad. I think having Rex back would be less painful and emotional scaring but either way. No I dont want Rex back.

Pees will work it out. Be patient.

I wouldn't mind Rex coming back if he kept his mouth shut. He wasn't bad at all when he was our DC, I'm sure everyone remembers "Organized Chaos"

Sure I'd like to have Ryan back. I think him being humbled by coming back after a failed HC gig will be 'punishment' enough. Guy is still one of the best defensive coaches in the league, heck I'd even take the feet jokes that come with it.

They both used very wimpy rush-3 zone coverage schemes, so no the comparisons are not that far off.
Sizzle and Cary are bigger problems than Pees though.

I don't think Ryan gets fired. Their GM seems more at risk.
I agree. Rex has found a way to get to the playoffs 2 out of his first 3 years with mostly lackluster players. Yeah, the Sanchez experiment is kinda his fault but the GM has to bring a better QB in too.

I don't think Sanchez is good. But the GM hasn't exactly helped him by giving him any weapons this season.

Rex has also put together some pretty solid defenses despite having a bunch of mediocre and over the hill players.

For sure. Having Revis helps a little though.
