X5 gone. Down to 2 vehicles for the first time in forever. About 3 years ago, had 7...now 2.

Just have the Escalade ESV and my 4 door Wrangler. Need to grab my wife something when we get back from Florida.

Finally going to get my 2006 Cobalt repaired by Chevy on Monday. Been waiting to get the parts for the ignition recall and finally they are in and I can get this fixed. Either way no matter what, I can't wait to get a new car. Anyone else have a Cobalt and had it repaired by Chevy as part of the ignition switch recall?

I had one… and then I determined I wanted to live so I dumped it pretty quickly.

No, but we represent about 45 clients regarding lawsuits towards GM and the Cobalt is the #1 culprit.

Change those tailights please

Likely going to black out the rest of the chrome and see about the tail lights. Not trying to get pulled over every 8 seconds, though.

Why thank you. He did all the upgrades, not me, but he was about to trade it in for a 2015 and was getting A LOT less than its worth. Told him I'd match it and bam, here we are.

Alright guys, I'm in a bind. I got rear ended, body shops say $4000 in damage, including potential damage underneath that they couldn't see. Now if you look at the car, you would think no way $4000, maybe not even $1000. My Cobalt held up quite well, I hit my brakes to avoid hitting the car in front of me as they just came to a complete stop out of nowhere. The car spun a bit and the person behind me hit only the driver side of the bumper. Anyway long story short, the visual damage, is a dent on the side of the car, back panel loose(I can push it in but it won't go back in), some paint from the other person's car and little cracks to the bumper. All of the places I took it to say I need a new bumper cover, dent won't come out, etc.

The car still drives fine, hell if you drove it you wouldn't even know it was damaged. Only problem is the cosigner that cosigned on the car is persistent I get the car fixed. They keep saying their name is on the car and they want it fixed. I don't want to get it fixed as the body damage is minimal at best and I'm not worried about the damage underneath, why worry about something I can't see. It didn't alter the car's performance in any way and I believe they are over reacting to the estimates.

Can they do anything to force me to get it fixed or even take the car and get it fixed without me even though they are just a cosigner?

Number 1... If you were rearended... The person who hit you is responsible for the damage.

Number 2... Body shops always say "could be more damage underneath" just to CYA. Likely not any more damage but it's possible.

Number 3... The Cosigner has no more right than you do and honestly , if you're making the payments its your car.

Take the check, take it to a cheaper place and get a patch-work fix and pocket the rest. Done!

Who do you think I am, Belichick? I don't cheat people out of stuff!

Was thinking about doing it myself and just getting fixed myself. 10 year car(2006), 114,000+ miles on it, it just seems easier to fix it myself.

Why would you fix it yourself when you pay for car insurance for a reason and it wasn't your fault?

I have been doing collision repair for more than twenty years.

$4,000.00 is a whole lot for a repair but not unreasonable. Knowing what to look for is key.

Additionally IF there is structural damage the vehicle is now significantly less safe and you potentially could be putting your life and the lives of those in the car at risk.

Any off chance one of you fine gents have the Pioneer AVIC-8000NEX?

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/NEX/AVIC-8000NEX

Found one for a decent price that includes install kit and all that other jazz. This will be the first time I've ever put this amount of money into my car and I plan on trying to install it myself....

would be cool if anyone on here had any alternative suggestions or better yet, review... apparently this is a hot item on the "touchscreen dash monitor" market haha

Selling Wrangler (I guess owning a Jeep is no longer in the cards). I've owned it for 18 months and have put less than 2k miles on it. She gone! $25k or so and then I'll likely buy something else stupid that sits and never gets driven.

I'll give you $25.00 for it.

Cruisin Ocean City was off the hook! I just love this event and can't wait for the Fall one. If you are a car guy and never been, you REALLY have to go to this event at least once in your life. Ocean City is full of hotrods, muscle cars, street rods, and racers from the inlet to the Delaware line!

Attended the Nova Nationals held at the Monster Mile in Dover this week. My Nova won best modified for the 68-72 year class. I was super excited and had a wonderful time.

I tried for over an hour to figure out how to upload a photo but evidently I can not figure out how to upload it to a proper URL that this website will except. I even joined flickr and downloaded the photo there, but this website still would not let me download it. It is driving me nuts.

Do you have an Imgur account? I've been able to use that site here in the past.
