Ok since this is the car thread, hopefully someone on here may be able to help me. I have a 2006 Chevy Cobalt. Last Friday, I got up to head to class to take a final and I couldn't get the car to go into the gear, it just wouldn't go at all. I had the car towed to Firestone, they were able to get it into gear but the brakes had locked up. They tried to say the brake fluid was contaminated, and that they fixed it. Well I drove it to a mall and it's a short distance so I didn't go far. I come back to leave, brakes felt heavy, and anytime I wasn't on the gas, it pretty much stopped on it's own. Took it back, and they again couldn't find nothing wrong but wanted $1600 for repairs so we had it towed to Sears and Sears replaced the rotors and cooling system.

I drove it about 15 miles from Sears, to a gas station and then back home. Car was fine, my mom takes the car and she says it's acting up again, where she's ok if she has her foot on the gas pedal but as soon as she takes it off the car slows down automatically and their is a loud vibration.

Does anyone know what could be the issue, is the brakes going bad and I need all new brakes all together or is it something else?

Sounds like maybe a stuck caliper or two or bad master cylinder...but thats something that any mechanic would have found, so its weird that they didn't uncover it.

Well I had everything removed and replaced, new calibers, new brake pads, new brake fluid, new tubes, everything. Yet it still acts up and the brakes lock up, now could it be the Rear Brakes or the brake pedal itself going bad?

My car is getting it's trans worked on as well as getting custom grind cams. And a fresh retune from a real tuner, one that tunes cars in the 6+ figures.

Edit: And most importantly the AC is getting fixed! lol

Sounds like an ABS issue,

lmao ... I thought maybe a Hummer with 28" chrome spinners ...

Since I have your attention..opinion?

Suburban Z71, Yukon Denali XL or Escalade ESV? I want a mammoth SUV and I have been looking at these three (basically the same damn thing) and I'm just curious of others opinions.

Cant lose either way! I'd honestly just go with whichever is the best deal financially.

I've always loved Denalis; best combo of the Suburban's ruggedness and the Caddy's luxury..

Its like a car carousel around here. Ever since wrecking my car last year, its been nuts. But now with another baby on the way, I want a massive SUV (I work from home and rarely drive, so gas consumption isn't really a concern of mine). My mother wants the S80, the wife still continues to drive the X5 even after my devious plan, the CJ never moves (and is for sale), the truck is, well, a truck that I beat the piss out of and the Benz is on jack stands in the garage! I need something that is mine that the family can rock in comfort (truck doesn't allow this) and safety (CJ certainly doesn't allow this). I think, financially, the most make sense of the 3 mentioned in my post above is the Z71...plus I like the look and I would most likely throw on a leveling kit/lift keys and some 33's :)

Financially the Z71 probably is the best option...not to mention it is, uh, "spacious".

Surprisingly, the Caddy would be my last choice of the three you mentioned.

I'm partial to the Denali, but if I take my bias out, I'd say go with the Z71

Yeah, I agree. I dig the look of the Denali (that front grill is just damn good looking), but I think I am leaning towards the Z71. The baby is due in March, so I have time and I am looking to steal one for a real good price. I'm looking for a 2003-2006 with sub 75k miles, leather, 3rd row seat and obviously all power options. Rear entertainment would be nice, but the aftermarket headrest add-ons are so affordable these days, that its not a must. I am pleasantly surprised that with all of that said, Im looking at about $9500 - $12,500 depending on the options and mileage.

Does anyone know what a Brake Booster is and what it does? I been having brake issues with my 2006 Chevy Cobalt and Firestone couldn't figure it out, and Sears replaced pretty much everything and the brakes still kept locking up. Took it to a Chevy Dealership and explained to me that I would need a new Brake Booster, anyone know what that is?

Helps add force to the master cylinder when you hit the brake pedal. Makes is so newer cars don't need the pedal "slammed" down on in order to stop.

We got rid of our 2003 Hoe for a Buick Enclave because of 'numerous' electrical gremlins. My Avalanche likewise has similar gremlins. If you do buy GM, which I do, be ready for electrical issues and brake-jobs on a regular basis. I have. ;)

Gotcha...thanks for the input. Buddy of mine works for the local GM dealer in service and I am fairly mechanicly inclined, so I hope we can tackle any issues that may come my way. Again, thanks!

Its always been a trade off in my mind.

If I can have the looks of a Corvette or the reliability of a Camry...I'll take the Vette. ;)

Yes, yes they do. This is not a daily driver, but did take it to OC MD this past weekend and I was happy I made it there and back on 3/4 tank :)

How much is it per gallon in your neck of the woods?

Follow up question, how big is the tank on that beast?
