Texans vs Ravens Afc championship?

41 posts in this topic

Afc is so weak this year, I believe it will be between these two teams. Their D is scary good like I said before. I think we play them week 7 at their home stadium, that game will most likely have playoff implications. I really do think they will beat us this year unfortunately, and probably play the 49ers, Cowboys, or Eagles in the Superbowl. Probably the 49ers.

It is hard for me to completely buy the Texans. It always seems like they have durability issues. Shaub has already lost part of his ear.

If they stay healthy I think they are a top 5 team in the league. Us and them are top to bottom the two best teams in the conference, but that doesn't mean we will see them afc game, depends how the chips fall, I just hope we have home field against them, but they have pretty much 6 easy wins from the get go in that division.

In fact I think the go 12 1 against afc .teams. They have already beaten Miami and denver, they will steam roll the jets no revis isn't there, I think that could 40 to single figures, they will beat he bills, I think they get beat by the pats in foxboro in dec, and I thnk they beat us in a close game, right now anyway.

easy now we have plenty of games to go, BTW the NFC is weaker this year

NFC is weaker this year? San fran, Seahawks are no joke, Cardinals d is good this year, cowboys # 1 in defense, eagles are solid, Giants are defending champs, Falcons are good team, and Packers will always be dangerous with A-rod. Oh yea lions and Bears are no joke too. I guess you can say I disagree lol.

Only team that actually scares me. Don't have much confidence in us against them, but if we play our game we can beat anybody.
Seattle has the most god awful offense I've seen all year, and Jay Cutler is well as Charles woodson would say "same old Jay" no to mention that O-line is atrocious. The Lions cant stop anyone and Stafford is taking a step back this year. The Giants are pretty mediocre defensively and the O is not that consistent. The Falcons and the 49ers (maybe the packers) are really the only complete teams in that whole conference.

Seattle can run the ball, and their defense is really good. They blew out the cowboys, and got lucky with the packers but competed the whole game. The bears are still a good team, I agree Jay cutler is hot and cold, but you have to remember that Matt forte is injured. Bears D is still solid. My point with Lions is their still a dangerous team and compete with anyone. Any team would be mediocre on D if they lost their starting CB's like the Giants have. They have something the ravens don't.. a pass rush. Their O is pretty consistent besides the first game they played against a good cowboys D. Just my opinion on ( This season)

lol this is a message board, idk why some people actually take it one game at time like the actual team does. I'm just saying that's a realistic chance for the afc championship game. Also the game we play them week 7 probably will have playoff implications.

The problem is that realistically it could be anyone vs anyone by the time it gets here. You could literally speculate the possibility of any two afc teams in the chamionship. The only reason I responded was because everyone is so high on them right now.

I would say AFC is weaker and NFC is stronger, which could help their chances of winning another Super Bowl. The AFC is indeed weak. Patriots 1-2, Broncos 1-2, Steelers 1-2, Chargers are 2-1 but they looked horrible against Atlanta and in their victory over the Raiders. Patriots, Broncos and Steelers are all "Super Bowl Contenders" but yet so weak. Even we have our problems.

The NFC meanwhile, the NFC West has come out of nowhere and become a solid division. Arizona and Seattle are going to not only make it tough on the 49ers but the NFC as a whole in terms of the wild card battle. Dallas, Giants and Eagles are all 2-1.

I can easily see Ravens vs Texans in the AFC Title game but I don't know what to expect in this new crazy NFL.

You're better than me. The only team that scares me is the Baltimore Ravens (Half-sleep version). Out of all the NFL teams the last two years we're the most balance and normally the most healthy. We don't have key devastating injuries outside of Suggs this year and you could make a case for Ole Suga being the General and all, but you get the point.

I'm telling you all... if the Ravens just learn to make their adjustments and understand that we're the best team in football, Lombardi's would be raining and a dynasty would be born. Tell players to grow a set and learn to be clutch. Play like no tomorrow making those grabs and kicks.

The Texans mean nothing to me. (They are some World-Beaters Absolutely) But they've never beaten my Ravens in their house and damn sure droppin' donuts in The Bank. We don't play that homie!

Durability issues aside they still managed to sneak out a playoff win against Cincy and did give us an issue with to Yates at qb.

I'd have to ask. Are you really thinking they won't be a threat or just hoping we won't have to face them?
totally incorrect. They started getting good 2010, having their first winning season in their history, when Arian foster broke out and got 1600 rushing yards. Schaub also passed for over 4k yards that year, meaning it was their first year of not being a one dimensional team that if you bracketed Andre Johnson you pretty much had the game one, provided the double coverages actually worked.

Then last year they really exploded onto the scene with the hiring of wade Philips of d co ordinator, as well as the good draft of jj watt, brooks reed. Watt has already established himself in two seasons as one of the premier d linemen in the league. They also lost Mario Williams which many thought would hinder them, but people of the d stepped up everywhere, look at Conor Barwin.

The texans aren't just a by product of the colts losing manning, they were on the up before manning went down due to the offense finally getting a good running game to go with an already lethal passing game, an arguably the best oline in the league for a couple of years. Then when the d got watt and Philips they became an elite front seven, and signed up Joseph to greatly improve that shakes secondary.

They are mirror images of ourself in many ways. Like to build through the draft, use the run to set up play action, have a great d, specifically front seven.

Your post is nonsense

I agree, their front seven gets after the passer and stops the run. To me its the best in football this year. Their secondary isn't all that special, but they get the job done. I'm just saying if we are lucky to beat them this year, I will be really surprised.

It is way too early to predict an AFC Championship game. Injuries could be a factor and for us, Suggs should be back. Any given Sunday.

That's it Steve Bartman.....nah just kidding. I think this is viable question and a huge concern going into that game. I still think we can compete and it is a close game going either way. As for the AFC championship -- I could see us both in the game.

Week by week but I'm blocking real forward to week 7 as a measuring stick for this team. They are the only year that really worries me and I want to see how our offense produces against them. Regardless of the outcome I hope we use this game to see what can and work against the year and focus on different blocking strategies while utilizing a quick strike passing game early to wear them out. Keep the run game involved and try to catch off guard later with the play action.

They look really good so far. If Schaub Foster and Johnson can all stay healthy they will be a tough team to beat, but I can't make any predictions now it is too early. Let it be noted they do have one of the easiest divisions in football right now. An easy division makes getting to the playoffs easy. Look at the Patriots....they have a good team and an easy division. We'll definitely need every win we can get.

Shaub aint clutch, by the time the SB comes the three QB's for the AFC will be either Brady, Flacco, or Manning. Most likely it will be Flacco.

It would be a nice showdown, hopefully our Defense comes around by the time we play them!

Hate to say it, because thats the game I'd want, but if I were a betting man, I'd say that a rare thing is going to happen this year -- I think we are going to see a rematch of last year's AFCCG.
