Is Webb the best corner in the league?

It pisses me off so bad....lately after he makes a pick they throw a flag. Let that man live! He's a great corner and sure tackler. We definitely got lucky with him. And he overcame the 3 and forever blown coverage play a few years ago in the playoffs. I blame Mattison more for that anyway.
It was Landry's fault. I don't recall off the top of my head but I believe it was a dime man 2 deep safety coverage. In those instances the corners play underneath the receiver to prevent comeback routes and the safety has the over top. Landry failed to provide the over top coverage.

So you're implying what?
He's missed multiple tackles this season for one reason or another. I'm not implying anything. It's just a fact.

Asomugha isn't the same anymore. Eagles dont use him right and guys like Ramses Barden can beat him now. Still a very good corner, but not great.
Revis is the best pure cover guy, but that is all he does.
I think Webb is the best corner in the league. Hes a very good cover guy, but its his instincts that makes him special. I love the way he finds the ball and the way he rushes the passer of the edge. He can cover big guys like Brandon Marshall, speed guys like wallace and Desean Jackson, and everything in between.

I think people are being a bit biased here on Webb. I can think of a few cover corners who I would trust more on an island in coverage than him.

Jonathan Joseph
Patrick Peterson
Joe Haden

I would ttrade him for each one of these three.

Question wasn't is he the best cover corner, though. Webb is more complete than each and every one of those three.

I dunno about Peterson. I haven't seen him play enough. And Joe Haden? Isn't he the one Boldin burned for a TD last year?

Webb didn't allow a single TD last year. That's enough support for me to trust him alone on an island.

Q only had 2 catches for 32 yards in the one game he played against the Browns last season. His huge game against the Browns two years ago come almost entirely against Eric Wright.

I don't think Haden is as versatile as Webb but he's easily one of the best CBs in the AFC.

I wouldn't call him the best, but he is in the top 5. I definitely don't want to see him risk injury by returning punts.

Well, I wouldn't call Revis' allowed QB rating of 45.6 a decline in the traditional sense, as that's still a terrific number and his 2009 season may never be duplicated again. In addition, he did grade out as PFF's best CB through 16 games, although Webb took over the spot during the Playoffs on good reason. So I don't see how Revis isn't as reliable as he was before, especially considering his start this season. With that being said, Webb is absolutely one of the best. I tend to shy away from getting into ranking the absolute best because it's almost impossible at times, but he's definitely somewhere at the top.
I agree! If you are ranking them fairly one need to compare their performance against the same offense and same receivers. That is not possible since the CBs listed all play difference schedules. Webb is very good, very valuable and is among the best, his new contract pretty much tells us the FO sees it that way too.

Each one of those you listed brings something special to the game, but I won't trade Webb for any of them. Especially the way Webb fits our team.

He has but you posed your comment like he was too shook to tackle Richardson.

Well there was a play where he basically dived out of the way instead of tackling Richardson. I dont necessarily blame him as Trent had a full head of steam and about 50 lbs on Webb.

I think all has been said, what makes him the best is his versatility. He can cover, blitz, hit, tackle, force turnovers, and field punts. He does it all. He might not be as flashy as most but he gets the job done. No one escapes the Spider Webb.

It depends on what you place most value in...

In my opinion Webb is the best all around player at the CB position. He's the best tackler, blitzer, and best in run support. He also has great hands and more versatile in being a return man. He's a playmaker.

As a pure coverage corner I think Revis is the best by a slight margin.

I think Nnamdi was a bit overrated and we may be seeing that now in Philadelphia. In Oakland he was just avoided since he was that much better than his counterpart. Now that he's playing alongside another very good corner and isnt being avoided like the plague, he has looked a lot more human. In my opinion so far this year Nnamdi isnt even the best corner on the Eagles. DRC i think has outplayed him.

I didn't see that play. I watched the whole game. Did he go low? Absolutely -- business decision accepted. He didn't flee though lol.

Call it what you will...It was a pretty poor attempt at a tackle.

Per PFF:
[background=rgb(245, 245, 245)]One for Baltimore fans: of all starting cornerbacks, Lardarius Webb has given up the fewest yards per snap in coverage at just 0.37.[/background]
Even more impressive when you consider he leads the defense in snaps.

Webb and that Brandon Browner guy in Seattle.......As a matter of fact, Seattle has the best secondary in the NFL

In terms of Seattle's CB corps, I'd actually take Richard Sherman over Brandon Browner. He's allowed less than 50% of his passes since last season and a QB rating of 56.4 as well.

webb for me cannot be compared with other cbs in the nfl but woodson. they play their own style. they can do just everything: coverage, open field tackling, blitzing, ball hawking and everything else. webb is the best at what he does.

is he the best pure corner? i don“t know but for me he is a top 5 defender in the nfl and that says much more about what he does

WOW, when i said he was one of the best just a few weeks ago. Everyone was say " your crazy, its too early, etc, etc"

Been saying the only difference between him and Revis was Revis gets away with Holding hands ( P.I.) on his WRers.
