On to the Chiefs

Chiefs are a decent team but I just don't think they match up with the talent that Baltimore can bring to the field. Good team but the Ravens are better and should win if they play how they are capable of playing. Cassel is not an elite qb and the Ravens O can burn just about anyone in the league if run properly (in other words make sure Rice is involved one way or another). Browns game was not fun to watch (just a bit too close for comfort), but I don't read too much into it. Short week, divisional opponent, and it seems all the small breaks went the Browns way (pick in the end zone (good d), 3 field goals from 50 plus yards (not normally done good for them), missed pat and 46 yard field goal (bad conditions but still suck), and the dumb last penalty (I think it should have been let go but maybe Kruger had been warned earlier by the refs?)) but the Ravens still managed a respectable win. Here's hoping.

Chiefs beat the Saints but I can't see them keeping up with us scoring wise. Though, I thought the same against Buffalo a couple seasons ago and they matched us like crazy. The only thing that worries me is we are applying no pressure whatsoever on the QB. Weeden had all day to throw it seemed and I hope Webb will be able to cover Bowe because if Cassel has all day to throw with no pressure and Bowe beats Webb we are in trouble in the passing game. Though, Charles is my main concern since we are struggling mightily to stop the run.

Yeah, and that Eagles defense is becoming something to be reckoned with.
With rep. refs a lot of players got away with pushing and shoving. So much even, that it literally became part of Ravens practice after the Philly game.
I don't think the Eagles D was just too good; our O plays and wins against top ranked defenses all the time, but if the other teams secondary is beating up your receiver at some point it just throws the QB and with him the whole offense off rythm, fights start to break out or guys get cheap shots in.
I swear, at one play a corner was pulling so hard on Torrey jersey the whole damn thing almost ripped off. Then again the call against Kruger by the regular refs in the game against the Browns was crazy as well. Really? Flopping? Is this the NBA?

On paper the Chiefs are the top ranked offense in total yards and rushing but paper don't win no football games as the Chiefs' 1-2 record will attest.

I'll give them some props; Jamal Charles ran for 233 yards :o in an OT win against the Saints in their house. As good as he may be I do not see him doing anything like that against us; curious to see how Charles runs against the Bolts this weekend.

27-17 Ravens... something like that...34-17 if Cary Williams can snag another pick 6 :D

if the chiefs win vs chargers this week hey'll be 2-2 and the game will become a lot harder; i still think we'll get the win, but it's going to be a close win again

IMO, the keys to this game begins with preparation and film study. Fortunately, we have some added time to prepare.

The 2nd key is slowing Charles down and containing him.

The 3rd key is coverage. We should be in man coverage thoughout with Webb covering Bowe. Bowe, in zone coverage will eat us alive with the pressure we've been getting on QBs.

The final and 4th key is the play calling. In our last meeting, I felt Cam was brilliant with his play calls. It was the closest we have operated to a west coast style offense and we dinked & dunked them to death. Hope Cam can dial up something of the same for this game.

On that front our best hope is that it's a physical, emotional game. Whether they win or lose we'll either be facing a team hungry for sole possession of it's division or a team that's desperate to save it's season.

Yeah man. With the holes in the defense we should have legitimate concerns. I never thought I'd be worrying about the defense showing up.
Meaning no disrespect toward Ngata, Reed and crew but the way KCs offense is built I expect our defense to have trouble in this game. We will need our offense to carry us through and they are capable. KCs defense needs to be concerned!

This game worries me, we gave up to much yards the past three games. I think the Chiefs are a better team then the Browns, we cannot come out flat again.
Agreed, they will be very tough. We will need a decent start from our offense to help take the crowd out of it as soon as possible.

Webb on Bowe may prevent some Raven flexibility on defense so I see smith on Bowe.

Point well taken. I still feel the need for man coverage in this one though. Zone coverage could be our downfall in this one,
that's very very true (I actually hadn't thought of that). Nnamdi was abusing our receivers. It'll be nice to see how they fare when they have to play by the rules.

We Need A new Defensive Coordinator instead of Dean Pees someone who will keep us in a 3-4 defense and help our defense to move us from 27th to top 3

This is gonna be tough trying to contain Charles (and maybe they'll use Hillis against us seeing as he'd had some pretty good games against us) and covering Bowe.

Kind worried about this tbh.

But at least we have time to rest and to prepare.

Honestly, I worry more about the Browns game in primetime with a short rest than this game.
We need to be pumped and have the energy to GET TO THE QUARTERBACK.Chiefs can still put a hurting, but we should be able to beat them despite that.

Ravens don't play well on the road recently.

Throw in the defense's slow starts and this game worries me.

wow! you cats "worry" waaaaay too much in here! lol!

seriously though, the Ravens have struggled on the road but with 10 days rest and healing up, i feel that they will do well and hopefully get the "W" to make us 4-1 and to give them 3 straight wins!

I am hoping we stop the "play down to our opponent" mindset because we could get burned by the chiefs very easily. We have not stopped the run very well this year and then there is Bowe. If Bowe lines up with Cary Williams all day then we are in for a fight. Should be a great game.

Haha, I said I was more worried about the Browns game with short rest than the Chiefs game with long rest.

We should be good on Sunday to lay a beating on them, if the defense can step it up.

I would drive you nuts. I worry about everything related to the Ravens. I even worry about them flying on road trips. I'm a wreck all season long. You name it, I'll find a way to worry about it. Luckily, I know how to keep a grip on it and enjoy the ride or I would be a basket case every year.

This will be a hard game. Chiefs have a lot going for them. They have Cassel yes but they have a quality backfield. Their offensive line is playing at a high level, too. They have physical and tall WRs who are effective in run support. With our lack of pass rush and their decent OL I think it will be a challenge for us.

This won't be an easy game.

This is the type of game that our defense rises to the occasion. We also perform our best after bye weeks and this is kind of one.

The Chiefs lost to two very good teams and beat thee Saints who are in disarray. I'm not puffed up about this game but not worried either.

If the Bills can score on them then so can we.

Hopefully we get a clue on how to get after the QB next week. Cassel, I think holds back the Chiefs. But... when you give an NFL QB all the time in the world to throw, then yeah.

Lets shut down half of the field by putting Webb on Bowe, then the rest will focus on the stopping the running game. However, we need good pressure though or Cary and Smith will get beat.....

Our pass rush right now is abysmal; we need to come up with different packages to confuse QB, and we need to improve on our zone defenses somehow, but if QB is confortable in the pocket, it's going to be ugly scene for our defense....

Don't they? Seems like every game someone posts "this game worries me". I would like to see one game, just one, that no one sweats about being worried. I do not worry about any of the games. I just assume that the best team is going to win, and who IS the best team? Hmmm? :D

I'm sure we'd all wish that it was as simple as the best team always winning, but with that sentiment in mind, we wouldn't have lost to the majority of the teams that upset us last season. Being concerned isn't necessarily a negative. This is the NFL, and as cliché as it sounds, no game is ever a given. No elite team is ever perfect and even the worst of teams are likely to have some kind of strength, so it's reasonable not to take any of them lightly. I would, however, like to note the distinction between the ones who show logical concern and the ones who constantly foreshadow our demise, as I'm sure you and I have seen over and over again. The latter is just foolish and unnecessary.

The Chiefs have a lot of talent. Not going to be easy as others have said but if we take care of business on both sides of the ball then we should come out on top.

Containing Bowe and Charles will be a very good test for our defense, but atleast we aren't playing an elite quarterback, so i think we will be able to slow the chiefs down and score more points than them, but what i am real worried about is Tamba Hali, he is one of the best defensive players in the nfl hands down, and will be a handful to contain. we NEED to double team him at all times.
