Seriously guys, we really need to put our heads together and determine if this is a trap game or not.

It it is a trap game, we are going to have to let the team know this, so that they can try harder.

But what if it isn't? Then we will be stressing them out. That could be a trap in of itself. A trap within a trap.

Trapception!

In the last 8 games, the first three this year and last 5 last season, Justin Houston has 9.5 sacks, third in the league behind Allen and ware

Can our defense repel firepower of that magnitude (Charles, Bowe, Baldwin, McCluster, Hillis, Moeaki)? Perhaps we should get Billy Dee Williams' celebrity opinion.

This is not a trap game. Kansas are a damn good team if they play well. Great rb, great WR, great pass rush. Two of those things could kill us, I'm confident in defending Charles.

Trap games are for bad team, Oakland, browns, jax, Indy and the likes

Also great secondary. Flowers,Carr,Berry

Ravens don't play well on the road recently.

Throw in the defense's slow starts and this game worries me.
Recently we had only 1 road game. New team. 4th best offense. 27th ranked defense. We couldn't be any more diffrent from last year.

I have not seen much of the Chiefs this year but will look. I want to see how the corners are doing and the front line of the D. You know as well as i do if you give Flacco the time he will find a receiver or Rice will make a nice 30 yard dash.

I hope that Tamba Hali continues his relatively quiet start, but if there's anyone on their defense who worries me, it's Justin Houston. I'm very pleased with his progression, given that I was as high on him coming out as he was when coming out. Since midway through last season, he's developed into an all-around solid OLB. Along with his 4 sacks in 2012, he's added 9 stuffs with no missed tackles, allowed 3 receptions on 7 targets for just 14 yards and a QB rating of 50.4. Obviously the coverage numbers are a small sample size, but solid work nonetheless. It will be an interesting match-up between him and Kelechi Osemele.

The last time we faced these guys was in the playoffs where we flat out dominated them with a 30-7 win in the wild card match up. This time around I expect a tough game in a hostile environment. We'll need to shut down Charles if we have a shot. If we neutralize their run game they can't run the clock and keep our high powered offense off the field.

This game is definitely winnable after extended rest and game planning but I don't expect a blowout by any means.

Share thoughts below with regards to our next game.

October 7th can't get here soon enough!

That game wasn't as big a blowout as the score indicates. We got lucky when Charles got injured after Cody fell on him. That game would have been close if he was taken out. It started aetti g ugly I think middle of the third quarter. Both are 2 different teams now.

So if every game is a trap game, is any game really a trap game?

I was hoping we would snag Houston in the draft as well -Truth-. That defense is really a pretty solid unit when you think about it, they've just gotten off to a slow start like our defense has as well. It will be a very tough game no doubt. As others have alluded to in this thread including myself, they have a wealth of talent, a lot of it potentially game breaking, on the offensive side. The Ravens, Chiefs, and Seahawks I think have three of the best home stadiums / crowds. Our team knows where they've been struggling and they'll continue working at it as the season goes on and in the long run (obviously I'm biased) I think we have the better complete team as good as the Chiefs are on paper (they just haven't put it all together yet, just like us), I've got a lot of faith that we've seen far from what is the best this team has to offer. And it starts after the "mini-bye" as some are calling it in KC. Let's go Ravens.

KC is first in offense yards this year so they can move the ball and Bowe is better than any wr the Browns have. Charles is the threat that Chris Johnson used to be so watchout.

I thought it turned around when Reed laid a big hit on McCluster, but I'm not sure. it was pretty awesome though.

I wish people would stop saying things like 'Charles was burning us until..." That's how we play. That's how we've always played. What do you think people mean when they say we're physical? Other teams can't take the kind of physical punishment we dish out, and it affects their play. Charles has 1 good game on the season, I don't expect him to do much. I'm far more worried about Bowe. They'll probably line him up against Cary, and if we don't press him he's going to burn us big. We have absolutely no pass rush. Its going to be like Greg Little, except he'll catch the ball.

I wouldn't say that. His first week, he had 16 rushes for 87 yards and a 5.4 YPC, all of which are solid numbers. Admittedly, he was held back in the second week because of swelling in his knee. Lastly, calling it a good game would be an understatement. He did benefit from superb run blocking as well, but he obviously contributed himself with an astounding 151 yards after contact. He'll be a focal point of our defensive meetings this week. I don't expect him to produce at anywhere near the level that he did against the Saints, but that says more about that performance than it does about my prediction. We shouldn't simply expect that he won't be productive and leave it at that.

Great minds think alike. I agree, their defense has the potential to be very good. I see them matching up Stanford Routt on Torrey Smith and Brandon Flowers on Anquan Boldin, given that their styles are similar. Eric Berry will likely cover the TEs, and I hope that Kendrick Lewis remains on the sidelines, because Abram Elam has struggled thus far and could leave them vulnerable on the deep passes. One match-up I'm interested in watching is between Jacoby Jones and Javier Arenas. Arenas has carved out a nice spot for himself as Kansas City's nickel CB, but he could find himself in a mismatch while covering the bigger and faster Jones. One of my biggest concerns, however, lies in their standout OT duo of Brandon Albert and Eric Winston. We showed the blueprint for disrupting Matt Cassel, and it began and ended with pressure. Sadly, the man responsible for that masterpiece will be in street clothes next week. For our sake, I hope one of our OLBs steps it up in the pass rushing department.

If Hotlanta and Buffalo can jack them up for a combined 75 points (40 for ATL and 35 for BUF), and KC lost those two games by a combined 34 points...well, I'm not scared.

If I'm correct Bowe has a slight injury, that might hurt his performance; not that he wasn't completely non existent or anything like that against us in the playoffs.

I think that we will win by less than 7 points. We will score a few TDs and so will they. In the end, our defense will stand tall and shut them down on the last drive.
That seems to be our Defense's MO. They give up yards, hold teams to FGs, and get the stop when it's necessary. It's not pretty by any means but it seems to be winning games.
