I know, it is ridiculous to use stats to evaluate a player, especially when ngata is on a pace to record 80 tackles and 6 sacks as a 3 - 4 DE! Those stats are amazing, considering that in a 3-4, the LB are the ones who are supposed to pile up the tackles and sacks, not the linemen.
But if you want to pretend that just because he hasnt been perfect every single snap, he isnt playing at an elite level, thats fine with me..
No pretending here... and Ngata isn't always lined up as a DE... and furthermore , he's NOT stopping the run. Not at an elite level.. look at his TFL... go ahead.. he's not getting the push up front that he used to... Im not saying that isn't by design but I don't really know why it would be. He's making tackles at the LOS or even within 4-5 yards.. at least not at the clip he has in the past.

I also forgot to mention we took Sergio Kindle over Carlos Dunlap too, even without the injury theres no way to know if Kindle would have caught on like Dunlap has. My point is I hope we can pick up on where our scouts are going wrong, they've built a dominant pass rushing line without spending any 1st round picks.
but they also drafted Jordan Shipley, Andre Smith and a host of other jokers. I think Kindle would have been an elite player , he was dominant against superior competition at the collegiate level.

According to pff premium stats, ngata is the 5th best de in the league in run stopping. JJ watt is first. 23rd best lineman in the league, de, dt, 43 or 34.

So that would lend him to not playing at an elite level...
well 5th best stats wise at his position would say he's doing damn good, while he is number 4 in pass rushing for 34 ends. Jj watt is the only player ahead of him in both. The other three better rated run stoppers are way down in the teens in pass rushing.so effectively he has the 2nd best productivity of any 34 end in the league.

He's 35 out of all linemen in pass rushing. But 24 of the players ahead are 43 ends which is their job. He's the 7th best 34 lineman at pass rushing.

Geno Atkins is 2nd in pass rushing only to jj watt. His run stopping percentage is also better than ngatas thus far for what it's worth

my eyes aren't lying

He doesn't make a play every single snap, but overall he has been dominant. He is the only player consistently making a push on passing downs and he is getting it done in the run game as well. So I would venture to say your eyes are in fact lying.

I think a big issue with our line this year is we are only rotating 5 players when in years past we have had 6 guys rotating up front. Cody and Kemo are useless against the pass and havent stood out as elite run stuffers either

Apparently, Andre Smith has fared rather well over the last 2 years. He's given up just 4 sacks since the beginning of last year, and has allowed just 1.3 pressures and .42 QB hits per game in that span. His career was off to an atrocious start. I'm personally surprised he was able to at least somewhat right the ship.

He was supposed to be a Left Tackle, wasn't he?

From what I remember he had a rough rookie and sophomore year, last season was his breakthrough and he'll probably switch to the left side if age catches up with Andrew Whitworth. Props to truth for the pff pic.

This. He wasn't going to take Whitworth's spot, regardless of how well he performed. And thank you.

If Kindle cannot make our pass rush better by now, he probably won't ever. I say cut him and activate Adrian Hamilton from the practice squad to the active roster and play the guy! What have we gotta lose??

Kindle is talented, he didn't lose his athletism when he hit his head. The problem is the coaching staff won't let him play. I know for a fact that he is freakishly athletic for his position, but he won't learn the playbook if you don't play him.

This is not how it works bud. You have to learn the playbook before the coaches can trust you on the field. He's had two seasons where he's been healthy enough to play. If he can't get a playbook down in two years he needs to get with the program.

Also, his performance in the preseason did nothing to warrant giving him more playing time. He made no impact at all. What makes you think he can make a difference now?

I think our own website would say the same thing:

Seems like everybody in Baltimore thinks Haloti is playing at an elite level, except for H8R

What happened to Terrence Cody? I thought he played well last year.
Kemo came in and took his spot. He's started every game this season. I don't have the snap numbers but Cody has 7 tackles to Kemo's 6 (according to NFL.com's numbers).

I know hindsight is 20/20 but I wouldn't have minded getting Justin Houston in the draft a few years ago. Guy would have been a perfect combo with Suggs. Didn't he last till the mid to late 3rd round?

Never mind.. 70th overall and I guess Torey Smith was a great guy to go with at the end of the 2nd that year.

We would have had to taken him instead of Torrey.

EDIT: Sorry didn't see you already saw.

Sheep, I tell you! watch the All-22 footage, a lot of times he's being stopped by 1 Blocker.

I love Haloti but honestly I feel like he hasn't REALLY had a DOMINATING performance since the Jets game last year.....i mean he's playing okay but nothing elite or prow-bowl deserving IMO

I believe we could've traded up for him, provided that there would've been a willing team, like we did for Jah Reid. I personally wanted Houston badly, so at least it's affirming to see him light it up. I'm still surprised with how far he fell. He put enough on tape to warrant a much earlier selection, despite of the combine issue.
