At least adjustments are being made in the second half. That helps.

only on defense unfortunately...

We have an abismal front seven. Outside of Ngata and maybe lewis, they are just not that good. We have no pass rush and slow linebackers who cant wrap up and finish a tackle. Todays game showed that.

McPhee looks fat, Ngata looks fat, Jones looks Fat, Cody is still fat, Kemo is rusty.. I miss CRedd soo much! He was the ultimate 3-4 end, with his versatility, motor and intelligence .. ohh yea, he could get to the passer too. It looks like we basically have 3 NTs on the line now..

I agree with hater apart from ngata. It's was planned for ngata to put on weight because he wore down last year, and he's been laying well thus far. He's our best pass rusher.

I wanted to keep redding more than rice last year, with the rumours on what rice wanted, but man I didn't think we would miss redding this much. I thought McPhee would step up.

And hater for the record, they made McPhee put more weight on as well to be better against the run.

Kruger, wow, what a day for him. Pass rush isn't there yet, but Kruger and Upshaw set the edge pretty well.
Good to see someone watching the game rather than repeating what they hear others say! Kruger has played pretty decently all year; but admittedly, not as well as I thought he would. Then again I had/have pretty high expectations for him
i thought he was horrible until that game. He had flashes in the browns game but his setting the edge left a lot to be desired.

He was very good today, especially in run support.

are front seven has to be the worst in the NFL.......we absolutely cannot get any pressure w/o blitzing.....hell even when we do blitz we dont get pressure.......we need to run a 4-3 defense....I hate the 3-4

I haven't felt that way at all...I mean people keep saying that, but other than a couple plays, I cannot recall any time that Kruger got washed away or got beat outside and gave up big gains.

Unless anyone has any examples (more than one or two would be great), I'll just have to disagree with the majority here.

The white jerseys aren't very slimming. Perhaps they should try something with a higher waist line?

Or they should give the fans what they really want....black jerseys. What?????? Exactly.

Its a l ot of the sceheme and play calling .. i think the linebackers are ok could be much better tho i think its mostly the line not really penetrating collapsing pockets ... Kemo looks garbage he isnt getting consistant penetration gets blown up off the ball a lot .. on the line nobody is getting off well not even ngata consistently , here and there even tho hes getting double teamed most the time. the team needs suggs back but its still uncertain how effective he will even be ..

Sounds good, that plus a colonic will get the job done.

Things may change when/if Suggs return. There's still plenty of season too so we'll see. At least he's not having to bounce around in different positions.

The one good thing about Suggs being out is that we are already 4-1 weathering the storm. At the same time our young depth is getting invaluable playing time and developing. This will only enhance our defense when Suggs does return.

All those big runs were up the A gaps, because they cant pop it outside
You were right. Kruger ended up having a great day and he really did destroy. Hopefully he keeps it up!

Ngata is having a DPOY-like start to his season. He's the least of our concern. I will concede to you that Kemo and Cody look fat, play fat, and just aren't playing good football.

Okay, for the millionth damn time, how would changing the formation magically make the personnel better? Lets break this down, shall we? Our current front seven looks like this

McClain - Lewis
Upshaw/McClellan - Ngata - Cody - McPhee - Kruger

On 3rd down, its Upshaw, Ngata, McPhee, Kruger.

Now, if we transitioned to a 4-3, this is how I'd project it to look.

McClain - Lewis - Ellerbe?

Upshaw - Ngata - Cody/McPhee/Who? - Kruger

How does that fix anything? It's the exact same personnel. Nothing changes except scheme. By the way, it would be impossible to install a new scheme in a week. Lol! Personnel aside, Pees runs his 3-4 just like a 4-3 cover two in terms of philosophy, scheme, and some alignments. Nothing chnages!

So, tell me. How does changing the formation magically make the players execute better?

What was the difference in the 2nd half? Charles had 10 carries for 15 yards in the 2nd half. Does anyone know?
The defensive line and OLBs remembered how to play technically sound football. That's pretty much it.

Thanks.

It ended up being 4.28 yards per carry given up by the Defense. Much more than we are accustomed too but not as bad as I thought it was.

The Chiefs ran 50 times today. WOW, that was a lot.

For the season:

170 carries/592 yards/ 3.48 yards per carry given up

NOT too shabby this season in the per carry department.

A lot of people panic when they see all the yardage, but don't think enough to look at the average. If you run it 50 times you better have over 100 yards! I care way more about averages than total yardage.

Rodney Harrison and Tony Dungy were placing the blame squarely on Ray Lewis. Maybe it was just one of those deals where it is easy to blame the big name player for them but it looked like a team effort with the mistakes in my opinion.

Hah! That's just funny to blame Ray. They're just trying to get attention by doing that. Anyone who knows anything can tell it was all on the line. Ray had 10 tackles today. What a bad day!

Ray is slow. There is no other way around it.

He can still make some plays. Namely blitzing and run stuffs up the middle. But he can't shed blockers or catch RBs in the passing game anymore.

Pretty much, that and Kruger/McPhee/Ngata started slicing through the stretch play that was murdering us.

Well, he has to be doing something right if the team is giving up 3.48 ypc, 17.8 ppg, and hasn't given up a TD in coverage since 2010.

Slower yes but it isn't as dire as you may think.
