Not the coordinator. It's the talent. We don't have any good pass rushers with Suggs out.

I agree 100% with this statement!

Remember when most of us wanted Watt to slide to us in last years draft?

That would of been great.
I'm never a big advocate of taking an interior 34 Dlineman in the first round unless they project to be a Richard Seymour type. I definitely didn't think Watt would be this disruptive, interior lineman simply can't block him, it's insane how disruptive he is inside.

We've all heard he's a beast but he hasn't shown it enough to make the team decide to bring him up. If you can't beat Kindle out you must have a way to go.
Kindle doesn't dress really. What I don't understand is that Hamilton clearly has burst off the line, something none of our pass rushers had. Kindle had it before he smashed his dome, but Kruger and Upshaw don't really have significant burst off the line.

Yep, loved Watt too, but I didnt think he'd be this good this soon.
Also wanted Dunlap in the worst way. I thought Kindle was a great consolation prize, but to think that our DL could have consisted of Ngata, Watt and Dunlap....

I wanted Vontaze Burfict as a 5th/6th rounder. No one gave me flack for and laughed at it. Now his a beast for Bengals. Another lost opportunity.

I don't think Dunlap would have transferred well into a 34 schemed defense, other than he would have slid outside in the nickel. But he is no doubt a pass rushing talent for the Bengals. The second Bengals game is going to be alot different with him in the lineup.

I thought after the Ravens he went to the Chargers? Could be wrong but true about the st thing. My problem was we hadn't had another decent rusher opposite Suggs for a while and he was inexpensive. Also Kruger wasn't drafted before we got rid of him. We drafted Kruger I think after we didn't retain Barnes. He had done alright as a rush specialist though when he did get time.
Kruger was drafted before Barnes was traded to the Eagles.

Is there a chance that Hamilton get's a shot soon? We need more than Upshaw, Kindle and Kurger. I also feel that Kindle will be cut soon. Who out there is available and worth picking up?

I'd be surprised if Hamilton was active once this season, much less played enough defensive snaps to make an impact. If he ever makes an impact, he'll probably have to toil on the practice squad this year before working his way up like McClellan did.

The free agency pool is pretty dry.

Agreed. Kindle likely goes when Suggs comes back. The only way Hamilton will see the active roster this year is is there is an injury.

At this point our best move would be to look for a team who may entertain a trade for what we need... Daryl Tapp perhaps? I think it is unlikely but if we keep giving QB's all day to pick us apart a move will HAVE to be made... or prepare for a shoot out EVERY sunday. I personally think our odds to the superbowl will be determined how we handle these holes in our front 7 generating pressure without blitzing.

I hope next years draft is focused on adding top talent to our DT/DE rotation, as well as Linebacker...

If we were any smarter, we'd try hamilton/kindle out.

Not like we have anything to lose. Kruger is just plain bad

Let me ask you a logical question. If Kruger is "just plain bad" yet Kindle did far worse in the preseason, what makes you think Kindle would be an upgrade in any situation? He hasn't even gotten time over Upshaw, the rookie. Kruger is the starter, so if he's "just plain bad" Kindle and Hamilton are likely to be awful.
Kruger won't be the starter for long. I think McClellan has that spot possibly from this week alongside Upshaw.

Then hopefully Kruger can get back to last years form as a pass rush specialist than can just pin his ears back and go after the qb.

We need good edge setters this weekend and that's what Upshaw and Albert do well.

Kruger has not gotten as much pressure as we were expecting, in part because he is getting beat more than he has in the past, and in part because we are not sending him in as a pass rush as often as we expected he would be. But still, 1.5 sacks in 3 games would average out to 8 sacks in a full season, which isn't too shabby for a guy who sucks so much.
But he has played quite well against the run. He isn't racking up the tackles ( 7 tackles in 3 games played), but he is doing a good job setting the edge, which supposedly he isn't good at according to some people.

You dont know what hamilton/kindle has to offer. You havent seen them in action. If the pass rush is bad, then you need to improvise and try another guy out. Sometimes, players have different mentality & instinct when game is on. Thats why there are surprise players in NFL every year.

How soon will Sergio Kindle be taking the field as a regular? Will Adrian Hamilton be given a shot to pressure the QB before T-Sizzle comes back? We need a pass rusher to augment Paul Kruger&Pernell McFee.

Exactly. It surely cannot hurt after seeing this impotent pass rush! When you dont see adjustments made it makes you wonder about the commitment to not just making the playoffs every year (which is great) but winning the superbowl! Its not enought to just hope it improves, you MUST make sure it improves... either make a trade (Daryl Tapp- Eagles) or try out other players!

Ehhh, he's struggled mightily against the run in my opinion and he gets stuck on blocks just for the sake of taking up his block. There's a reason they're using Upshaw and McClellan against run formations.

This is comparable to Lions Fans being flabbergasted as to why their pass offence sucks if Calvin Johnson were to get injured...we lost our best player, he made everyone around him look better. When he's back other guys will get opportunities!

Can you guys please stop advocating Kindle and Hamilton?

If they showed promise, they'd be on the field.

Kruger is fairly good as a 3rd-down rusher. I think if we start Upshaw/Mclellan and use him to spell them he'll do much better. I'm not super opposed to Kindle seeing time in a rush package opposite him, but at this point I'm not convinced he'll have much of an impact.

McPhee should improve as the season goes on...

but yeah. Our pass rush is awful right now. I definitely think we would have kept Redding and/or JJ if Suggs had gone down before they left.

If they were better than Kruger they would be on the field. Why is that concept so difficult for fans to grasp?

What's going on with McPhee pass rushing so far? I mean I figured he could at least win a few one on one battles.

Kruger and McClellan come off the edge but never bend inward to get hits on the QB.

Art jones I haven't taken much notice too, in the passing game.

McClellan and McPhee have done well in the run from what I've seen.

I actually thought that upshaw would have much better impact in the run and pass game but haven't seen any pass rush so far.
We are stopping the run, which is important, but the two main reasons why our D is ranked so low is bc of the lack of Suggs, and the poor play of Cary Williams. Jimmy and Webb have been impressive, Cary is our week point. They can't run on us, but we cannot stop the pass game with the piss poor play of Williams. The DLine, good. MLB's good, olbs, will be great when Suggs comes back

My opinion, for what it's worth, is that we are not stunting enough at the LOS. When we are not getting enough push from the interior, something needs to change. Stunting gets linemen out of position because the push comes on an angle instead of straight forward creating gaps for our LBs to move through. We can do so much more with the personnel we are using right now to create havoc. Why not pull out all the stops and become more creative!

Ha, Kruger is destroying KC...so much for the Kruger Sucks theory
Can't say he's been destroying. He's had great plays and bad plays. He's gotta do better setting the edge, but so far I'd give him a solid B for his performance.
