Week 4 - Baltimore Ravens vs. Cleveland Browns

"Ask any football player, any real football player. It doesn't matter if you win by a point or if the game's a blowout; a win's a win. When you win by a point, there are a lot of things to go over in preparation for the next game. When you win by a lot, the story remains the same: You're back to the drawing board, watching game film, and hitting the practice field all week. At the end of the day, it's a +1 in the win column." - Me

He kinda did... what are you talking about? Got a sack and he was on Weeden all night
Uh, the only guy I saw rolling up on Weeden was Ngata. Whatever.

how did we allow this rookie qb throw for 320? and offense was pretty shaky tonight. signing out with a question mark
I would blame Cary Williams, but I'll take it easy on him tonight :)

Kruger isn't getting a new deal doing stupid crap like that. What a moron, you play like crap and then you do something incredibly stupid like that.

10 days to rest and regroup before we start getting into the tough part of our schedule. I said when the schedule came out that if we got through the first 4 games in good shape I'd be happy - 4 games in 18 days is brutal, but the time off should be worth it.

Not as close as I thought it would be but 4 games in 18 days? That's brutal; I'll take it!

P.S. What a stupid penalty by Kruger!! Sheesh.
I hadn't thought about that. Four games in 18 days is seriously gruelling. Glad the team can get an extended rest.

We have a lot, a LOT to work on. This offense we faced is terrible. Weeden is terrible, but we made him look like a pro bowler with over 300 yards passing, the receivers are terrible. This game should have been put to bed and we had our chances to. No pass rush to speak of, O-line absolutely killing drives. Thank goodness we managed to eek out a win against this bad team.

Exactly my thoughts. I knew Oher was getting away with some False Starts when the replacement refs were here. If he goes after a ref like he did tonight, I say bench him. Big diva. Glad Leach chewed him out.

Wow this is not the same team that played NE and Cincy
Sure it is. This is a team that played 3 games in 17 days. Give them ten days of rest, and they'll blow the Chiefs to pieces.

If people look at our history with the Browns in the Harbaugh era, we always have close, close games against the Browns in Baltimore.

What's the point of throwing it 46 times and only scoring 2 offensive TDs? Yards without results are pointless.
Tough to put up more points with continued ill-timed penalties and shoddy pass protection.

Honestly, I blame Pees. Hardly any man defense. Too many times did I see their receivers with nobody even close to them.

Weeden had 320 yards............ thats all that needs to be said.
It's a good thing he doesn't have any worthwhile receivers because this defense wouldn't have been able to cover them.

Only thing that concerns me is the 11 penalties.. Our defense is what it is until sizzle gets back

That's actually a great point. We came of a huge game against the Pats just 4 days ago. I guess we were expecting too much. Joe was actually pretty sharp and often extended plays, but our Receivers were just too tired and beat up from the last couple games.
Jacoby Jones had a strong showing, Torrey looked great and Boldin was the key for the victory. But our TEs were not a factor and the Browns took Ray out of the game. Thankfully we switched to the pass quite fast.
The defense looked solid at the very start of the game, but ran out of gas in the 2nd half. It's not much, it doesn't feel great, but Joe showed consistency (last season this would have been just like the JAX game) and it's nice to have Boldin back. :)

I'm ready to file this one away. We are 3-1 and have to just keep rolling. Plenty of problems, though. OL should be ashamed with the effort. This zone is awful.

I do think that Cleveland has gotten a lot better than they have been, though. Richardson is a flat-out beast. They don't know how to use him properly, but if they get a staff that can figure a scheme out, he'll be a force in this league.

We won, guys. We gave up a lot of yards, and yet gave up minimal TDs. It was an UGLY game, but heck..it was the Browns. We ALWAYS play ugly against them. I'll take this win and love it and snuggle it all night.
I agree on all counts. Joe and Q bailed us out of this one for sure. I can't believe Joe is averaging over 300 yards per game! This team had a tough first quarter of the season and are now being rewarded with a much needed mini-bye week. It feels GREAT to be 3-1.

I think Q's 130 and Torrey's 97 would beg to differ lol
There has been some success in the passing game for sure, but that doesn't mean there was a lot of separation for th receivers. Almost every one of those grabs by Torrey and especially Boldin was in tight coverage where the ball was threaded into a narrow window and the catch was a demonstration of great skill and hands. Most of those catches could have been drops just as easily due to the coverage and where the ball had to be placed, making the catch difficult. The fact that they had that many receptions and yards is testament to their toughness and great hands, and Flacco's ability to thead the ball into tight windows, not that they were getting good separation on their routes.
