Joe Flacco the top QB in AFC?

136 posts in this topic

I have a feeling that we are witnessing the beginning of Flacco's rise to the top of the QB pile. He predicted it in April and everyone was skeptical. Now all he needs to do is prove it.
speak for yourself good sir. There is a good few here know he is totally capable of being elite, and all he needed was cam to let the reigns off a bit and open it up, give joe a bit more control. And we'll what do you know. Cam has done exactly that and here we are, 3 weeks in, and nfln has him at no. 4 on their list of MVP candidates.

Who'd a thunk it

Why do we have to have a new Ravens topic every day?

Is this real life?
did I ask why?

Feels pretty real to me, I'm sitting here typing, and feel alive, look alive. Yep I'm alive, it's real life, no dream here...

Sealing someone else's works. This is for deep throws, where the ball travels over 20 yards I'm the air... So far through 3 games

Brady - 170 / 38% / 111.9 / 97.0
Stafford - 72 / 25% / 64.6 / 83.5
Ryan - 29 / 20% / 51.3 / 114.0

Joes career...

2008 - 18/64 703y 7 TD 3 INTs 28% 88.8 qbr

Nothing would make me happier than having a Matt Ryan vs Joe Flacco superbowl... That would be a defining moment in Joe' career
even if he out played him he'd still be second best. Anyway, don't count your chickens just yet, lets see them win one playoff game first. Although they very well may get home field advantage, I can't see Arizona keeping this up, there only reall comp at the minute besides them is 49ers or Seahawks from hat division depending on how Russell wilson grows, there defence is legit.

Green Bay really need to step up, what better way to do it that the saints, and then the bears if their oline sorts itself out.

Of course the giants but they ebb and flow, you can never say they are legit or count them out lol

I didn't want to open yet another Flacco thread; but here's a good article on NFL.com by Aditi:
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000066390/article/joe-flacco-conundrum-whats-the-matter-with-selfconfidence?module=HP11_content_stream

This quote I especially like:
No, the question today is: Why are we so bothered when a quarterback expresses self-confidence?
Cornerback Antonio Cromartie says he's the second-best receiver on the New York Jets, and we roll with it. We like bombast in defensive players, we'll take it in receivers and running backs, but quarterbacks? What in the name of Joe Namath was Flacco thinking?
Absolutely.
i know I did, where did I mention ravens? I thought it was self explanatory by starting with "let's see if they win a playoff game first" as we'll as when talking about said teams rivals for home field advantage only talking about NFC teams...

There must be a flacco thread everyday. Sometimes more than one. Do all teams message boards argue and discuss their qb as much as we do here?

i don't recall questioning the topic, you'd know if I questioned a topic, many regulars here will back that up. I was merely asking a question if other fans have as much as a love hate relationship with their QB as we do.

Please find where I questioned the topic? It's a good topic if you didn't already know he was top QB and being someone that thinks highly of joe, I love reading posts like that one. I actually wanted to know he answer to the question I asked, otherwise why would I waste my time even typing it. If I wanted a smart comment I'd try and have a conversation with a moody teenage girl, or am I having one here? Who knows

So again, where did I question the topic? And offense was taken because you've made a wrong assumption and called me out on it.

Edit, same to you sir..
Did I attack you arnie? No. I said no offense to you, I was calling out other people on this forum that do that frequently. In fact, I was quoting the other guy's post, not yours. I didn't attack you, no need to strike back bro. I'm not here everyday, but I'm here often enough to know you're an intelligent poster and I pretty much most often agree with things you say. I said no offense to try and clarify it wasn't directed for you, was doing it from my mobile phone too, so I didn't really give much thought to the enitre post, so I didn't think at all that you'd misunderstand me. Sorry.

Yep, posted that in the Flacco Haters. And yes, it's common sense, but it doesn't help that all people listen to is ESPN and Jamie "I have 'sources' that say this, I hate Flacco" Dukes on NFLN, which pretty much paints Joe in a bad light. Only Baltimore Fans and fans who really watch the games know how good he is. And so, naturally, everyone hears the PORTION of his comment and think Flacco is a crazy mediocre game manager on a team with such an "old" defense..... :gaah: Just don't get me started

I dont want to get going on this one.. because iv'e been watching people argue over Flacco before i even joined these boards. But i am so sick of hearing the Flacco haters... Honestly at this point in his career he is elite and if you don't think he is than you merely have a personal vendetta against Joe , or you don't know what you are talking about. We have a quarterback with one of, if not the strongest arms in the NFL. He can make pinpoint sideline throws, is very mobile, big and durable, and has improved throwing over the middle vastly, and now works well against cover 2. Plus the guy has ice water in his veins, he steps up when it's do or die. We have a pro bowl running back and we use him...so just because Flacco doesn't get to air it out 50 or so times a game, and doesn't have the chance to put up Rodgers like numbers does not mean he is not elite. Im just curious as to what Flacco haters think he CANNOT do, what cant Joe do as a quarterback? nothing comes to my mind..

This is why the "haters" come out and protest (well, most of them anyway).

He is not "elite". Elite, in most peoples opinion, is top 3 or 5. I am a huge Flacco supporter and everyone knows it, but he's not a top 5 QB...YET!

(ugh, why did I write this????)

I'd say 9, first quarter patriots game was pretty bad.
Actually 8, for the first game of the season, Joe was sitting on the bench in the 4th.

I count that as his best quarter thus far. Balled so hard that he wasnt even needed after 3!
I think he has the ability to do so.

The reason why I think most people write him off is that he doesn't have a ring (yet) or at the least is putting up Marino/Brees numbers.

People forget that since we can actually have a truly balanced offense and generally good defence that it stops having to throw 55 times per game thus inflating his numbers.

Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. Some people (not you at all, just in general) go way over board with the Flacco love. AND then some go way over board with the hate. He's a top 10 QB with the potential to one of the leagues best! Im excited as hell to keep watching it all unfold in front of me!
