Just reason #176 why Ozzie's is Ozzie and I'm a bozo.....

When Ravens signed JJ my initial reaction was "Ravens just wasted 7 million on a choker, whats Ozzie doing!"

Boy was I wrong.

I know we have a small sample size, so this may be a tad early, but Jones is about 10 times better than I thought he would be. He's every bit the play maker Torrey is and gives the Ravens two serious deep threats that honestly have to strike fear into the hearts of defensive coordinators.

Jones, a third round pick by Houston in 2007, is averaging almost 22 yards per reception with the Ravens and was a Flacco target twice on the final drive in the comeback against the Raven's.

As the season grinds on it will be interesting to see if Jones can maintain consistency and avoid turnovers, but so far........he's been very impressive as the 3rd wide out.

I am one of the board's biggest Jones criticizers but he's done well these last two games. I was worried he'd just be dead weight. But he caught a few good deep passes so far including two TDs against Philly (yes, two). Only had one drop which might not have been recorded as a drop because he also had part of his foot touch the sideline.

Part of the reason I didn't like him is having him as a returner. He's not the KR anymore and he did muff a punt on Sunday but thankfully recovered.

honestly when we signed him all I thought of was that one play where he dropped the ball and allowed us to steal a win from Houston....however, like Pollard and Leech before him, Texans play much better football in purple and black!

Although he scared me when he bobbled that punt, he's been pretty good for us. Much better than expected

I've liked and have appreciated the way he's been playing these first few weeks, hopefully he keeps it up.

I had the same reaction. I was like "Man I hope he doesn't fumble another punt and lose us the game." but I love this addition so far. That catch he had on the final drive was amazing. It was a thing of beauty. The bobbled punt freaked me out, but I am happy with him so far. When he gets the ball, he usually makes a big play.

I am still warming up to him. He's played strong so far. But I would like to see the consistency long term. The bobble punt at the end was scary, especially considering that he fumbled one in the playoff game against us. Those were two pressure situations. Hopefully he doesn't pull a 'Cundiff'.

But no doubt. So far, he's been an excellent addition.

Thanks for making this thread. Jacoby has been quite an asset thus far. Not to pat myself on the back too hard, but i thought from the get go it was a smart signing. Keep it up!

Ummm, that scenario almost played out AGAIN Sunday night. He dropped the final punt from New England, he just recovered it immediately. That aside, I like the signing and now opposing Def Coord's have to game plan for 2 speedy Ravens WRs.

Honestly I thought when we signed him that Jones was a guy who just needed a change of scenery. We've seen other examples throughtout sports where for whatever reason a player just needs a fresh start somewhere else. It seems to be just what the doctor ordered for Jones.

Same here. I'm cautiously optimistic, but he's proving his worth a whole lot more than Lee Evans!

Hopefully Jacoby Jones doesn't get the 3rd WR curse like those before him.

Ya he was a great addition. He looks super fast out there when he catches the ball. Also hes done more than our 3rd wr in 3 games so far than all of last season.

Everything that you said is exactly what I think / feel.

I love what JJ is doing so far, but I am going to wait til much later in the year before I make any judgments
