NFL Replacement Refs

53 posts in this topic

Despite what the owners think, the referees hold all the chips in this game. They all have other jobs that pay them to get bye and each week they sit at home and know the NFL is just getting dumped on for whatever you want to call this officiating. Not until the NFL can properly train referees will the regular referees have to even budge from their bargaining table.

I'm not a Packers fan and I don't know what to do right now. That was the biggest disgrace I have ever seen. I don't care what the Refs want, give them whatever they want. The Defensive PI they called on shields was blatantly wrong. That's was an OPI on Rice. It's gut wrenching to watch. Jennings clearly came down with that last play. And Tate got away with an OPI on that last play as well. Honestly, if I was GB, I wouldn't have came back on the field. I know that's grounds for suspensions and fines, but someone has to make a stand. And not only could neither of the refs make up their minds, they ran off the field before the point after. Jokes. They're nothing but jokes.

Honestly I'll watch the games either way. Games are still exciting and the calls are playing a part.

Teams need to take nothing for granted and adjust their play to take what the refs are giving. Sure it sucks, but it is the current state of the game.

I'll watch too, but more out of habit than enjoyment. I didnt like watch the refs literally hand the game to Seattle. How can you adjust to that? It's blatantly wrong and it makes me sick.

How do you adjust your play for nonsensical calls like those tonight?
Pray. There's really no way to prepare for these poor excuses of officials. Just play like Ravens and pray we don't get these bozos. But they're all terrible. I thought our crowd made a statement for this with the manure chant last night, but I think this could be it. If not, the owners are...I can't even say.

Can't adjust for bad calls. But you can adjust to the style of play these refs are allowing. Have wrs practice more with holding after five yards (the Ravens did this). There are other tweaks as well.

Adapt the best you can or be left in the dust complaining.

Overall the bad calls will even out for a team over the life of the season.

I have read where people should stop going to the games, but for me that is nuts because I have already paid for my tickets and Im not throwing my money away.

The majority of people will just complain about the refs and still support the NFL where it matters, money (tickets, tv, ad supported websites). There is nothing wrong with that but its not going to change much. In the end we are still buying the product.

That's the leverage the NFL has. The refs leverage is the current officiating and the back lash that follows.

Its not a pretty fight.

That game made me want to puke.

Worst part is Seattle celebrating, and the whole world knows the Packers won that game. They got hosed!

I don't see how you can say Tate caught that ball. Just no way. We have replay, where in any angle of replay does Tate show any simultaneous possession? They can't.

I feel like fans are going to start storming the field and throwing trash at the refs. This is going to get uglier. If that game was in Lambeau, that place would have been ripped apart brick by brick

One cannot simply stop supporting the NFL.
Goodell knows this and that's why he doesn't care about this whole mess. Anyone see Steve Young comment on this (about a week ago)? We're all still watching, the owners are still making money by the truck load. They (owners and Goodell) just don't care.

That's the most logical explanation I've heard for calling that a TD.

Only logical reason I can think of. Everyone on Twitter is spouting off, Twitter has blown up about this play.

The fans have to step up and show unified support for bring back the refs. Stop buying anything the NFL shows adds for or any merchandise. Anything they can make any money off of, its the only way to get these two sides locked in a room untill a deal is done.

These refs aren't biased, but it seems like the making equally bad calls in favor of the attacking team. The Packers/Seahawks farce is one of the worst calls I think I've ever seen.

all the more controversy to distract us from the real things going on in the world

our thoughts and energies are voluntarily focused on nearly meaningless football games
