I stay away from the comment section on any sports website. Just filled with pointless, big-headed, foul junk.

Absolutely asinine! I honestly don't see anything else Ed could have done, and I would be more than wiling to call Ed on an illegal hit (especially now that my emotions have died down from last night). If he could have hit Branch another way, I would be fine with it. However, there was not! It was not helmet to helmet, and it was a form tackle. It was a big hit, and certainly you don't want to take many like that, but that is the risk you run playing the game of football. I dunno, maybe Ed should have slid hoping that doing his best impersonation of a speed bump would trip up Branch. Cause when a small receiver crouches down, and leads with his head, there is simply no where you can target on the guy that is not going to hit his helmet. Only thing that can be more disturbing than this hit, would be if Ed really does get a fine.
Not to mention Ed's hit had its desired effect since Branch was separated from the ball. It was a clean hard hit and nothing more. It was violent but totally legal.

I think we need to hook Florio and Bayless up to a lie-detector and ask them just how much they REALLY LOVE the Ravens. ;)

I know, I know. I thought I'd venture down and it was a bad idea. The ONLY comment that people have in reference to the Ravens involves Ray Lewis and the term, "murderer."

I know that they don't care about the facts, they're easily obtainable. Trolls. Keyboard warriors. The internet is filled with those people and it's mostly to get a rise out of people. I just didn't know that comment still existed.

There was nothing for Reed to do on that play other than lay the hit on Branch. He can't let him run past, and if Branch is gonna lower himself then he can't lay a hit into the chest. I felt the same way about the call on Haloti Ngata. When 340 lbs of man launches there's nothing that can stop him from landing on a player, and if he had done it to a RB or a WR who had fallen to the ground then it wouldn't have been a penalty.

Mundy's hit on Heyward-Bey was dirty. He led with the crown of his helmet and hit Bey right on the chin.

Ed made a form tackle with his shoulder pad and Branch lowered his head at the last moment. The way both players reacted to the play told everybody watching that it was just bad luck and that neither player had dirty intentions. Branch was smiling and Ed, while pissed about the call, was still able to muster a smile and tap Branch on the helmet as a friendly gesture.

Florio needs to shut his mouth about things he clearly can't make an objective observation on.
Nothing else needs to be said! No idea how you go after the most credible person on this team in Ray Lewis. You'll get no where.

The hit was clean I do not care what he or anyone else says. Its football. Unfortunately in anothe 10 years tackling will be ruled illegal and we will have to play 2 hand touch.

Florio, Bayless, et al. are professional trolls. That an outlet such as ESPN would hire Skip and let him run his mouth on the air tells you all you need to know about their journalistic integrity and standards.

I've noticed in my travels throughout this country that there exists a fairly popular strain of Raven disdain (as you see from thousands of omnipresent net trolls), but so precious few brave souls willing to bring it to our faces.

Skip always tones it down six levels if he even has to see Sizzle's face via live feed. He is terrified of that man.

Florio's just a ----- and seems like the sort who probably always has been throughout every stage of his life.

Does anyone else think this Ray Lewis stuff is getting ridiculous?

Every website you go too (espn, rotoworld, cnnsi, PFT, etc) has something about how "bad" he is playing.

The funny thing is no one was saying any of that the 1st 4 games. Yes, the Ravens D didn't stop the run well last week but how about only giving up 120 total rushing yards the prior 2 weeks? The Defense is still 7th in points allowed, 4th in turnovers, and is giving up just 3.48 yards per carry.

It seems as if the media was waiting for that "bad game" to just unleash all the blame on Ray as if he was singlehandidly the only guy to play poorly.

The Jets have gotten run on a ton and all I hear is how great David Harris is. Jerod Mayo was a 1st team all pro in a bend but don't break defense despite having minimal impact plays. London Fletcher has missed 7 tackles already this season and played very poorly...not a word/article on him. Urlacher has played like garbage all season & has been ran over numerous times during his overrated career and no one is on his back.

Even current generation studs like Willis/Bowman/Beason, etc have had bad moments.

Sorry to vent, the double standard is just frustrating. The Ravens D (& Ray) are victims of their own prolonged success.

Thanks man.

I also keep hearing how Ray "only" made 1 tackle for loss this past week. Four of the tackles were within 3 yards of the LOS though.

Tackles for Loss on the season
Patrick Willis-0 (had 0 in 2010, 3 in 2011, and 0 so far this season)
NaVorro Bowman- 1
Derrick Johnson-1.5
Jerod Mayo-0
Karlos Dansby-2
David Harris-0.5
Sean Lee- 1
D'Qwell Jackson-1
Nick Barnett-0
Jon Beason-0.5
Ray Lewis-1
London Fletcher-1.5

Which star Inside Linebacker is racking up all these tackles for loss that Ray apparently is missing out on? The "new Ray Lewis" Patrick Willis has 3 tackles for loss since 2010 and 18.5 in his career so far in his 6th season. At that point Ray had 64.5 tackles for loss his 1st 6 seasons by comparison.

So close

I love all the stats and analysis! Urlacher has been terrible most of his career and does Jon Beason still play in the league? He was the 'next big thing' a few years ago haha

Ray is only leading the team in tackles.... AGAIN. I don't get where the Ray Lewis hate is coming from. Are they all just jealous that he's still out there at 37? Because it doesn't make a damn bit of sense to me.

Willis will never even come close to Lewis. And I live in SF so people think he will be better.
