Jacopy just dropped the punt and my heart almost fell out when it was our last possession of the night. We should have put Webb out there for fair catch.

That was a little disconcerting considering that he muffed a punt against us in the playoffs last year.

He could have a case of the fumbilitis in pressure situations. Leads me a little worried if he is returning punts in the playoffs.

Yah, I don't think it's a wise idea to put Jacoby out their to return punt in playoff. It's like an absolute safe idea to put Webb out their for 20yd back from the endzone.

Jacoby has good hands and speed but his mentality of the game is questionable; he seems to choke under pressure. That's kind of the scary part.

PS: I think it's best to use Webb to do punt return in playoff, but let Jacoby do punt return during the season which should help him have his confidence back and limit the possibilty of injuring our best corner.

I think it's too early to be talking about this right now, but the situation is definitely possible.

If Jones can continue to be the deep threat opposite Torrey and Boldin continues struggling to get separation, I would not be surprised at all to see this option play out. Hopefully we can get Doss some more reps to see if he has what it takes to replace Boldin.

If we're still seeing Boldin struggling to get separation by week 10, then I think this is a real possibility considering his cap hit when we have more guys who are crucial to the future to lock up.

Boldin is the reason Jones is getting the success he has. If Boldin isn't taking a double team with him or taking the best CB with him in passing routes, then Jones will be taking them. Boldin is still a good, clutch receiver. He's a possession receiver whereas Jones is a deep, go up and get it receiver.

I lost my faith in boldin last year when a midget wr shut him down in the afc game.

care to elaborate?

Tandon Doss is not the wr you think he is.Even if we do decide to replace Boldin(which would be stupid) it would be with a player through free agency. If we decide to take a wr or two in the draft,Doss wont even make the team.Williams,Thompson,Streeter and the new draftee would beat him out.I wish yall would stop putting Doss on a pedal stool like hes the next Boldin. We need Boldin more than you realise.Hes well worth the money hell make next year.

He had 6 catches for over 100 yards in the AFCCG and 4 catches for 73 yards and a td the week before. He wasnt shutdown in the playoffs.

I could see it happening purely for financial reasons considering he is due 6 million next year, thats a lot of paper when Flacco will need a substantial extension, if Reed doesn't retire he will need extended, both TE's (although they shouldn't garner massive $$'s)

Boldin was killing Edelman. I feel like anytime he was on Boldin we went at him.

You do realize Doss is the 4th receiver on the depth chart, right? Obviously the team sees something in him.

Williams has been inactive all season, but he's ahead of Doss?

i'm starting to think boldin will become the 3rd wr by the end of the season. i love boldin as i loved mase and heap and i didn't regret the decision to cut them looking long term and i will understand if boldin is next in line with the great young talent we have (Williams AKA Q#2, Doss, and Deonte)

Totally agree. But I don't see us even drafting a WR. No need to. Rather use first pick on a LT or a center.

I have to agree with those saying we can worry about this in February. It's too soon to even discuss this. Let's see what he does this season and how our receivers who are lower on the depth chart play as well. I do have to say that Jacoby Jones has been a pleasant surprise. He's what Lee Evans was supposed to be. I know Texans fans thought he was garbage but he's got great chemistry with Flacco and hasn't disappointed yet. (Now that I've said that, he might though.) I like what I see from Doss but choosing an unproven guy who has hardly played at all over a veteran like Boldin is a ridiculous notion.

This iz tough for me to say because i love Boldin as a player and a person and hid leadership would be missed but he should not be on the roster next year unless he takes a significant pay cut.

He seriously looks like he is running in slow motion out there. Boldin is still good enough to beat most nickelbacks but he is overmatched against starting caliber cbs and is really only effective playing out of the slot.

I think we keep Jacoby and put Doss in the slot with Deonte and Streeter as speedy options. I dont think we need to draft someone, but there are some really talented WRs coming out next year as well.

Agreed on all points. I really like Q but his physical decline coupled the talent behind him on the depth chart and WRs likely to be in the draft next year make me think this is probably his last year here.

Perfectly said. I love Boldin, but he's getting up there in age. He's been declining since he's been here, although some can be attributed to the scheme. Combine that with his salary next year, and he'll be one of those cap casualties.

Anquan is a Hell of a player. Sure, maybe it's premature to discuss this but let's entertain the thought.

Should Boldin be gone? Well, to be fair he has looked very poor this year. Boldin has not played well. He isn't even being double teamed and he struggles. He is being outproduced by JJ. It's not even true that Boldin is being covered by the best. Wasn't the safety on Boldin last night?

I think that Boldin can be replaced right now. I believe it 100%. He is not the #1 WR and is struggling to hold the #2. Watch, I say this and he will have a Hell of a game Thursday. Lol.

Cutting/trading Boldin does come with a cost. Losing him WILL hurt our offense but not in passing but in rushing. Boldin is underrated as a run blocker. Someone needs to step up there first before Boldin can leave/before he does leave. If we were the Patriots, we probably would have traded him already.

I like Boldin and I think he sticks around this year. Next year, well, who knows. He could be traded to a WR-needy team. We have a lot invested into the WR corps with Smith, Doss, Streeter. The FO will probably want to get some return on those investments.

People also say that Boldin's replacement is Doss and I know that's true due to Harbs' words; however, perhaps his replacement is also partially Pitta? Pitta is a Hell of a TE. He is an exceptional receiver. He needs work as a blocker, though.

Anyway, I see our WR corps as the following next year:

1. Smith
2. Jones
3. Doss
4. Streeter
5. Williams
6. Thompson

You know why I put Streeter at #4? Because he can run block. He did it very well at The U since he had no choice due to how much they run that ball lol.
AHHHH, that makes sense! He's such a huge person I can see how he could be effective at pushing 6 foot corners around at will lol

By the way, I don't understand why I got negged for agreeing with you. There must be some huge Q supporters here. I don't think people understand that this has nothing to do with whether we like Boldin or not but has everything to do with salary cap and depth at the position. I love Anquan as much as the next guy and I rep him with an authentic jersey on Sundays, but I recognize the difficulties of retaining talent with such a restrictive salary cap. With so much talent on the roster, Oz has to make sacrifices every season.

This isn't Madden where you can turn the salary cap off and keep everybody you want. The FO has to make tough decisions every year and every year we lose players because we simply can't afford the cap hit. It's why we've had to cut the likes of Bart, McGahee, Heap, Mason, Jarret, and Redding.

I'd like to see Boldin in top form next year, but I doubt he will be. He's getting old, and there's simply no way to make the argument that he isn't getting worse as time passes. Jarret Johnson and Cory Redding were both good players that we released for the same reason.
Jarret and Cory are prime examples of what Boldin is facing now. They were pricey solutions for positions we had younger and cheaper talent (Kruger, Kindle, Upshaw, Jones, and McPhee have filled their roles for much less money). Finding the 53 is a ruthless numbers game.

It was me. I negged you. I can't have anyone agreeing with me! Lol.

In all seriousness, the thing about Boldin is this: good teams let good talent go. When you are cutting talented players, that means you're a good team. As others have said, next year is next year. We have no idea what will happen this year. Much can change between now and August 2013. But, for the sake of speculation, I don't see Boldin here next year. Not because of talent but because of price. It happened with Mason in Smith. It happened with Gregg in Cody. It happened with Heap in Pitta & Dickson. It happened with McGahee and Rice. There comes a time to move on, unless the player is a future Hall of Fame player, and even then sometimes you move on.

I just want to say that one subject people seem mum on is that Tandon Doss played well last night in his limited snaps. He made some tough catches. One of them he didn't but that was still a hard catch to make. I think he has been impressive so far.

Thompson is better than Doss right now in my book. If anything use Deonte as the reason.

His quickness seems more online with where the ravens are going.

Well with the way Torrey Smith is playing right now, it could be pretty good. His hands are made of glue this year, catches everything thrown his way. Probably this years most improved Raven, outside of Flacco.
