Browns vs. Ravens!

213 posts in this topic

Looking through the Browns roster I saw Ishmaa’ily Kitchen listed 2[sup]nd[/sup] on the DT depth chart. Kitchen was signed by the Ravens in May as an undrafted free agent and waived on Aug. 31 the last cut day. Cleveland signed him the next day. If he plays he will wear number 67. Good athlete with good potential.

On Offensive side they have x-Raven LT, Oniel Cousins a former 3[sup]rd[/sup] round draft pick playing behind Joe Thomas.

this was posted on nfl.com forums made me lol

The Browns COULD give Ravens a fight. The Browns COULD look like an NFL team. The Browns COULD accept the resignations of Pat Shurmur and Mike Holmgren. The Browns COULD have stayed in Cleveland. The Browns COULD get some cheerleaders. The Browns COULD join DI(AA) College Football. The Browns COULD get new pink uniforms. The Browns COULD put a logo on their helmets (probably a logo of a small child playing in the sandbox to match their demeanor). What else do you suppose the Browns COULD do?
Cleveland cheerleaders would be the best thing to happen to sports. Could you imagine those outfits AND paper bags over their heads?

We always played great against great teams, but had the tendency to come up short against bad teams. What I want to see from the Ravens, especially Flacco is a true killer mentality. Yes, the Browns are not the Patriots and Weeden is not Brady, but that doesn't mean you don't have to put in any effort. Nothing short of complete dismantlement of the Browns is satisfactory.
Joe can proof that he is consistant right here.
Good ol' EZ Pass. Wish he was starting so a guy like Upshaw or McPhee could vindicate why we cut him loose. That dude was terrible. It's hard to believe he actually started a few games.

We Dont need to under estimate them we did in philly and look wat happened
Philly has one of the more talented rosters in the league. Cleveland obviously doesn't. Regardless, I highly doubt the players underestimated them going into the game.

Pretty sure no team in the NFL ever underestimates another team. We, as fans, do. But, like stated before, what does it matter AT ALL if we say we'll steamroll them to the tune of 50-3?

With that said, 41-12 Ravens :)

Now explain to me why you feel that a change of pace is needed. The purple fulfills all of your uniform "requirements", so why the need to change to the black? I really do not understand. Of course I know why we have alternate uniforms, so that two teams do not wear the same colored jersey, but why, as a fan do you like to see a change of color?
I like the purple as a fan because it's an unusual color in sports. I like that on gameday in and around Baltimore, simply wearing the color gives an instant connection to other fans. I don't think black all the time would have quite that effect. I think it'd just make it look like the city had gone goth. On the other hand, I think the black uniforms look intimidating on field, particularly in night games. With football being such a tough, physical game, the intimidating look is, in my opinion, a brilliant look on the field. In short, I love the dichotomy. I think the mix of the two is terrific variety. Because it's only a few times per year that we play nighttime games, the black uniforms remain unique while we can still maintain the purple as the general team color.

Yes, I know it's not a fashion show, but it's not like I can't simultaneously enjoy the intricacies of the game and the uniforms.
The analogy that comes to my mind immediately is that of sports cars, which are a hobby of mine. I enjoy the experience of taking mine out on the track occasionally and feel the connection to the road thru the steering wheel, the acceleration, the timing of braking, etc. but it's still nice to get out and see something that looks great from the outside as well.

Without Joe Haden, we shouldn't have any real issues on Offense... just be aware of Jackson over the middle.

Brandon Weeden is probably having nightmares.

The goth line made me laugh. I agree about the purple color, the fact that it is an unusual color choice for a sports team, and the instant connection with other fans. I understand your reasoning as to the black uniforms, I do not completely agree (I think purple is intimidating enough, not to mention the noise from the crowd and the reputation that the Ravens are so hard hitting) still to each his own. Your point about cars is well taken. While I am not a race car enthusiast, I do have a thing for roadsters, and the look (color) is part of the allure.

I'm still amazed that you can buy tickets on Ticketmaster for this game. I did a search for two tickets and saw 2 tickets, 9 rows from the field on the goalline.

I have a feeling the house is going to be a little empty tonight.

i havent seen the bank empty since it was being built. highly doubt its not full.
This is the first time in a long time that I've seen soooo many tickets still available on Ticketmaster.

Hell I just searched for six tickets! And it returned results with six tickets (all in a row). Maybe its because its a Thursday Night game and its against the Browns. I'm excited about being there again tonight.

One thing I have noticed the last few season compared to years past is fans in their seats late. At one time you wouldn't see an empty seat 30 minutes out before kickoff. Fans have become alot more west coast arriving later. I suspect many just spoiled from winning or just there for the "event" You know the ones that stand up on their cell waving to their friend they probably saw an hour before? Umm yeah I see ya and I'm impressed NOT haha Anywho it was better when they did that National Anthem before the player intro's because it kept the fans fired up instead of that calm inbetween.

That's because beer prices are increasing at a an alarming rate. Its cheaper outside. I for one like to be in my seat early. I like to get the 'feeding' in before the game as well.

I agree with this. I think the tailgating has gotten better as years have gone on also.
We tailgate up until about 30 mins before the game and then head in. We try to hit our seats right as the intros begin.

After going to games for the past 14 years, there is not as much allure to watching the team warm up before heading back into the locker room. But there is always something fun happening in the tailgate lot. :)
