He is also the reason that second to last pass was not a TD for the Browns. He is the one that jumped and tipped the ball. He had a decent night because he actually paid attention to the ball. I'm not a big fan of Cary but he definitely had a major contribution to this win.
If my memory is correct, we are talking about a hail mary that everyone in the stadium knew was coming thrown into triple coverage? Cary just happened to be on the right side of the receiver...

That's a raven play right there. Trusted what he saw, aggressively played the ball, created the turnover, scored.

You're proabaly referring to the two times he looked beat deep. The first, he recovered nicely and played the ball while in the WR's hands. The second time was COMPLETE luck that it was Little on the receiving (dropping) end of the pass.
Don't know if he has been lulled to sleep by the lack of passes against him or if Cleveland just saw something in film about webs tendencies. Thought it was weird to see him tested but I am very confident in his abilities. I know that teams aren't going to like it if they keep testing him

Cary had a couple of good plays, but his technique is terrible. He needs to learn to turn around! I think Jimmy should be starting, but hey im not the coach.
Unfortunately it doesn't really matter if he starts or not. We're forced to go nickel a vast majority of the time anyway. If Cary continues to struggle (and aside from the pick 6 he still didn't have the best game) the question isn't whether Jimmy takes his starting spot. The question is whether or not Cory Graham passes him on the depth chart. Thats the only way Cary doesn't still get a lot of snaps on defense because then he would be 4th on the dept chart.

Yeah, he got the pick six and that may have saved us. But, he still got burned deep, never looking back for the ball. As someone else mentioned, he will be the one who is targeted in games to come. Let's see if he can improve his technique and consistently play well.

On an unrelated note; Jimmy Smith needs to stop the stupid play on ST. He is gonna cost us big time if he continues with the mindless pushes and such.

See what happens when you actually turn around before the ball gets there? Pick 6! First INT of your NFL career. Still, if JimmyS played as he should have, then C.Will would be riding the metal right now.

He didn't need to turn around for the ball. He sat on the route and jumped it. Textbook coverage.

Regardless, it was a great play that had me jumping around high fiving people in the row, the one in front, and in back.

UNLEASH.... Asa Jackson.

Oh yeah lets unleash the rookie CB who hasn't even been active for a game yet because he's obviously going to do a better job than Cary.

Sorry for sounding so snide but its just not a good idea.

That pick does not change my opinion of Cary.
Me neither, he never has any clue where the ball is in man coverage and just flails his hands around when the receiver looks up.

If he just improves his ball skills then both him and the secondary will benefit. QBs fear turning the ball over, that's why they stay away from Ed Reed and Webb. With Cary, even when he has good coverage a QB can throw it his way and feel good about his chances of not getting picked off.
That's a very good point. Even Jimmy has shown ball skills. If Cary continues to show the inability to hold on to the ball QBs will continue to throw at him because the worst that can happen is an incompletion.

Cary needs to get on the jugs machine. I remember watching the 2012 NFL combine and the DBs did a drill I really liked that emphasized ball skills and made it fun and competitive. Maybe Teryl Austin should get our guys to do it as a cool down.

Either Cary or Jimmy need to be on Bowe with the help of Ed. Because of Jimmy's ball skills, it might be him.

I think Cary will be fine, but if he still isn't turning for the ball by week 10, ask me again.
But honestly, I have no idea why Cary isn't being put into press coverage more often.

I think I know why Cary isn't put in press more often. His biggest flaw (well, one of them) is flipping his hips and running down field. He gets beat by double moves. He doesn't have the speed to recover. I feel like he'd still get beat in press where his inability to flip his hips and lack of speed could be really exposed.

Extremely and unfortunately accurate description of his play. Doesn't even try to get his heard around to locate the ball. I actually snickered when I read "flails" lol but its true.
It's the defensive scheme. They're being told to stay off their men and prevent the big play. I don't know if that has always been Pees philosophy or if it's just because we don't have a pass rush.

If you're not getting to the quarterback and playing press you're just asking to be beat for a bomb deep. I think the defense will play to its potential once Suggs comes back. With Suggs, Ngata, and a guy like Cody all demanding double teams it allows a guy like Kruger or Upshaw a better chance to get a clean shot at the passer.
It actually has (for the most part). Brady didn't beat us with huge plays. He nickle and dimed us for all that yardage through the air. The only instance that I can remember where we've been beaten BIG through the air is the Eagles game with Celek wide open in the middle of the field... the gap in the coverage between the linebackers and safetys was atrocious.

You people are crazy, C.Williams is a decent CB. I'd rather have him in there than J.Smith who gets burned alot more than C.Williams.

I'd start Jimmy even though they both are essentially starters. I think he's a better tackler and has a higher ceiling. Jimmy to me also has better ball skills. I wonder how Graham would look out there. No offense to Cary and I'm sure someone posted a stat hrs hasn't given up a td(though someone else said the Maclin td was on him) he's giving up major yards which is giving teams a a shot to run the ball in.

JSmith certainly hasn't progressed as quickly as hoped but that second statement just can't be right. I don't know if you're basing it off of actual data or what, but just observing games its plainly obvious that Williams is targeted the most by opposing QBs and gives up the most yardage.
