What's even funnier is that Cary didn't play well last year.
This. If he played so well why did so many people oppose his 3 year extension? Because they thought he was being over compensated. I will give him this, he played better yesterday but he was also beat on a few plays. I will say this, it is hard to keep up with Oakland's speed.

We haven't forgotten at all! We remember that very well! We just don't care what he did LAST YEAR because LAST YEAR is over.
Last year he also had one of the best pass rushes in the league. Give a QB enough time, and no Corner in the league will be able to cover...

i dont think cary is as bad as people make him out to be. he's certainly no superstar but i cant think of a whole lot of teams he wouldnt start on. he just needs to get better at playing the ball in the air especially on deep balls. from what i see his coverage is usually tight enough he just has trouble finding the ball.

Carey played well last year because we had a tremendous pass rush. Case closed

Can't disagree here. We also had a shutdown guy next to him, still half the field taken away, a fully healthy Suggs, Ngata, Lewis, and Redding. We were loaded. Jimmy is still better

I don't know if Cary improved or the competition got worse. I still don't trust him. We miss LW badly..........

And he is making it awfully hard to support him when he stomps around and acts like he is "all world" every time he defends a pass. Just get back to the huddle and think about the next play!
I feel the same exact way. Cary makes 1 good play and all of the sudden he forgets how he has been burned all season. The guy is a 2nd string corner at best and i hate to say it has me missing Chris Carr, atleast he would turn his head and play the ball. Cary has no idea that such a simple gesture as turning your head can stop penalties. I figure he has to try to catch up to the receiver that is so far past him that he has no time to look for the ball. The guy is hopeless, hapless and just plain sorry.

He did us a favor, we might as well put brown in there to get some experience as he at least shows promise. Cary has been, always will be a useless tool on this team that simply fills a spot and not that well i might add.

In case he might be reading.

CARY YOU SUCK !! move on you worthless wannabe player. I think the Raiders will hire you.

i just got finished watching a segment on 1 Winning Drive when Cary deflected that deep pass to DHB and came to the sidelines to explain why he didn't catch the ball and the defense (esp. Ray Lewis and Haloti Ngata) wasn't impressed and they were trying to help him become "GREAT" as a CB. Ngata, said; "that drop was on you Cary!" and he added; "That's why you're a DB!" :229031_rofl: initially, Cary was looking agitated at their critique of his game and acted like he didn't want to listen to them. UNTIL...Ray Lewis told him; "You wanted to argue with me when i told you that! All I'm trying to do is make you great!" "There's a difference between being good and great!" When Cary started to tell Ray he did do everything Ray was saying he needed to do....then Ray said; "See, you're too aggressive right now i can't talk to you! Calm down!" :229031_rofl:

Agreed 100%. Cary played in all games last year, and looked as an AVERAGE for most of those games. Our pass rush was much better, which made Cary look somewhat decent.
Now this year our pass rush in first 8 games was minimal and Cary was exposed and played BELOW AVERAGE. But to give him credit, he has 4 INT and has shown improvement in the Raiders game. He will need to raise his play this week against them Squeelers.

Cary Williams has a bandwagon?
Last time I've seen Cary Williams Bandwagon it was in the ditch with all four tires flat. And poor Cary pumping air in it.

As long as the league continues to construct rules that attack defenses, we will continue to find increasing disappointment in the play of our men in coverage. Cary is fine and has been, less we forget about all the tremendously inept corners we've employed throughout the years.

He has some of the luckiest picks I've ever seen, and you darn well know it. Let me know when he actually picks off a competent passer...

Oh, and his team leading interceptions do not completely make up for his poor coverage. He has improved, but he's still not that good.
I'm definitely not a Cary fan, but then i think about the couple years that our corners were terrible and i forgive Cary for making a mistake. Seriously we had Foxworth as a starting corner for a while

I feel the same, he isn't a first-rate corner, but he gets us through games.

Cary didn't look awful last game. I don't trust him 1 on 1 deep ever because he has no clue how to play the ball. I'd like to see how well he plays when he isn't 10 yards off.

Williams is still brutal, 10 yard cushion, lets the guy run by him, turns awkwardly to run, grabs him and commits PI. That play alone is a perfect example why.

I guess im holding a grudge because people are saying J.SMith is better than C.Williams, it just makes me rage when anyone who watches the game can clearly see that C.Williams is a better CB.
Yeah I'll agree with you on that...bad news is neither one of them played as well as Corey Graham did tonight...he gets a game ball imho. The good news is we can probably get Williams back next year for considerably less than we offered earlier this year. Maybe next year Smith becomes the shutdown corner everyone envisions but I haven't seen it this year.

Did anyone watch 1 Winning Drive? During highlights of the Raiders game Ray said to Cary "I thought you said you were great? Great players go up and get that ball for a pick not just bat it down."

Cary walked away from him but came back. Ray said that he (Cary) shouldn't get mad at him. He's just pushing him to become great and there's a difference between being good and being great.
