2013 Prospects

My favorites
Manti Te'o (MLB, Notre Dame) - this guy's talents are very rare. he has a great combo of size and speed (6'2 255 and a 4.54 40). he has great instincts and is a sure tackler... sounds like someone i know. its never been more fun to watch a draft analysis than when you see this guy.
Stedman Bailey (WR, West Virginia) - he might be small but he is very explosive. he is a great route runner and breaks tackles when in space. i have him being more successful than tavon austin in the pros but both are great players. right now he is being overlooked by having geno smith and a spread offense but i feel like he's an antonio brown waiting to happen.
Kenny Vacarro (S, Texas) - i posted a comment on him in another thread but i had to mention him again. he is very instinctive and has an excellent range as a safety. he has been very underrated because he doesn't make too many plays but as long as he doesn't GIVE UP plays, thats all that matters.
Michael Mauti (MLB, Penn State) - while much of the penn state season is in disaster, one bright spot on this football team is this guy. he has shown a great amount of leadership of his team and stuck by his squad through the punishments. i hope he's not just another dan connor or paul posluzny. hate to see these PSU backers have limited success due to injuries and mauti is prone to it. if one thing is his weakness, it's his knees. if he can stay healthy, take this guy into consideration.

It's probably the State homer in me but I hope we consider him. While corner isn't necessarily a need in this years draft you rarely pass on a shutdown corner prospect. I just don't see him falling to us late in the first.

I see this draft having QBs, Pass rushers, CBs, and Safeties going early with the DL. Jones and Montgomery will most likely go in the top 10. I know it's early to say that but I can really see it happen.
I think we will have the chance to get Manti. The only team I think that will take him ahead of us is Pittsburgh, and they may have some other needs at that time. I see them having to cut some top talent soon due to those restructures.
I really like Te'o, Banks, Jones, Reid are just some off the top of my head. I want us to leave this draft with these positions:
MLB, OLB, DT, CB, S, OT, TE. I think our biggest 'need' is linebacker, both inside and outside. I will not be upset if our first three picks are linebackers. We need a rotation of linebackers who can get pressure. Suggs' return makes think better, and with Upshaw we get a solid LOLB but we need people behind them. I liked Kruger but I don't know if he will be re-signed. That isn't because I think he is bad but he could do very well and be too expensive. On the contrary he could do bad this year and feel our offer is too low or we could give up on him. Regardless, we need pass rushing OLBs and an inside LB to replace Ray eventually.
As for safety, I don't see it as such a need as most. I think Reed is re-signed. I feel like he will be here another three years. At the very least he will be here two more years, in my opinion.
Defensive tackle is a conern for me and it is one I want addressed. I like Cody but it will be his final year with us if he remains here. He will be an RfA. We don't have a true NT behind him at present. It will also be the last year of Jones' deal since he will be an RFA, too.
I feel with the way Cary has played that we will address CB in the draft for two reasons. First, I don't think we will offer Cary a deal he will accept. We don't have the money. He will either rebound this year and have a great year or he will slump and have a poor year. Either way I feel like he will set his price too high for us.
In OT we will need to reload, at the very least for depth. I have liked Oher so far, as well as Osemele. I think they are our future. Regardless, we need depth behind them. Unless Jah Reid's injuries disappear then we will need to shore up here. I don't see us needing any interior linemen but who knows.
We may need a new TE, since both of our TEs will be RFAs after this year. We usually like to develop players. I believe fully that we will hit up the TEs next year. Besides I like some of the TEs coming out next year.

Really? Reid overrated? Explain that one to me.my overrated/underrated list
underrated
Geno Smith (QB, West Virginia)
Andrew Jackson (MLB, Western Kentucky)
Logan Ryan (CB, Rutgers)
overrated
Logan Thomas (QB, Virginia Tech)
William Gholston (DE, Michigan State)
Eric Reid (S, LSU)
Also, I am really glad you brought up Jackson. I like him a lot out of Western Kentucky. He is a Hell of a player. He plays hard and has good instincts. If we don't get Te'o I would be really happy with Jackson.
My top players based upon position:
MLB: Te'o, Jackson, Skov, Morris.
OLB: Jones, Mingo, Montgomery, Lemonier, Moore, Long
DE/DT: Lotulelie, Floyd
DT/NT: Jenkins, Hankins, Geathers.
S: McDonald, Reid, Vaccaro, Lester, Jefferson, Rambo, Elam, Armstrong (I still like him).
CB: Rhodes, Banks, Trufant, Ryan, Smith, Malone.
TE: Eifert, Fauria, Ertz, Gragg, Ford, Sims, Williams.
OT: Matthews, Aboushi, Fluker, Hurst, Faulk, Henderson
There's a long season ahead but these are some of my favorite prospects.

He's doing a good job covering the pass tonight.

Brown is a beast. I have no idea what happened to him in Miami but I'm glad he's shining at KSU. He could be a really good pro.
A prospect I like is Tennessee WR Cordarrelle Patterson. He's got a similar build as Demaryius Thomas and comparable speed.

I feel we really need an inside presence on the DL on pass downs, anyone have any favourite interior pass rushers or people to look out for in the mid rounds?
Draft-a-Franchise: Calgary Stampeders
Armchair GM of the: Seattle Seahawks

He's very small, to me seems more like a Titus young type player.Tavon Austin is having an impressive game today against maryland. Seems very explosive.

Yeah I agree about Teo, I can kind of confirm this now based on how unimpressed I was with Hightower last. He'll still be a first round pick though. Glad we got Upshaw and not the overrated Chandler Jones/Hightower.I disagree with people who think Manti will go high. As sad as it is MLB/ILB isn't as valuable as it used to be. Pass rushers are the big commodity as well as CBs and now safeties. Safeties who can be ball hawks like Reed will go early whereas top talent ILBs will begin to go later. I know the Panthers took Kuechly but I just don't know if that's going to happen again.

You do realize that people said the same thing about Lewis 16 years ago right. Teo is the next Ray. Sad thing is, unless we're as risky as Atalanta, then we aren't getting him. If anything we need to trade up for Eric Reid, there will be another Ray Lewis, he was this generations Butkus. There will never be another Ed reed. I think our biggest need is FS, then MLB. We are fine at tackle, that oline(when Gino is added) could be there for the next ten years. My draft priorities areManti Teo isn't going to be anything more than an average pro because of his lack of range and pass coverage.
1.FS (Reid)
2.MLB (Kevin Reddick, Nico Johnson, CJ Mosley,Chase Thomas)
3. OLB (William Gholston, Chase Thomas)
Then we draft for depth. We are set at every other position.
If anything my first three rounds look like this
1. Reid
2 Gohlston
3 Nico Johnson
4. Datone Jones
2014 we draft the best DT available to help ngata. We need to rebuild on d if we win it all

No they didn't, they said Ray was too small and his 40 was too slow. Teo is as much the next Ray as every other MLB who was called the next Ray.
