BALTIMOREFLACCO

Stadium Traditions

30 posts in this topic

I see the Ravens every time they're in NY, but this weekend as an early graduation gift, I will be spending a weekend in Baltimore and seeing my first regular season game at the bank. I know a couple of the main ones. If there's more please fill me in so I can fully participate!!!

For example:

-"O" during the National Anthem after "that our flag was still there"
-Seven Nation Army (obviously)
-Calls for player names (REEEEEEEED, LEEEEEEEEEACH)

At the beginning of each game, they run down a fan conduct statement - fans shout the last line, "Don't be a jerk!"

Rub Johnny U's foot, if you come in that way.

If the D is being introduced, get hyped when Ray walks out!

There's this arm motion deal kind of like the tomahawk arm motion Florida State does every time there is a first down. And there's this graphic on the big boards that says "Move Those Chains."

It can get annoying so lets hope you get REALLY irritated by it since that means our offense is clicking ;)

Thats what i do right before i go into the stadium, can't remember if i rub the shoe but i do touch the statue for good luck. Oh and we won the game last time i did that.

Football rituals are only Weird if they don't work. :)

I love the 7 nation army chant but i like it even more now that its becoming into something different. Its this kinda long chant now. Which i think is better because B More put its own spin on it.

If you havn't noticed, other n.f.l stadiums are trying to do it now.

And yes i know, Colleges have been doing it for a while now but the RAVENS i think were the first in the N.F.L

Congrats on your graduation.

Those traditions sound awesome, especially the "don't be a jerk" part.

What I would give to watch a Ravens game live.

You have to be really, really loud on defense. If your throat gets sore, you beat on the seat in front of or next to you. Those hollow plastic seats make great drums. The noise can be deafening.

This Sunday Night any of these chants will do:

Brady Sucks!

Cheaters!

Overrated!
[/quote]I remember hearing "NO MEANS NO" through the television every time Roethlisberger went under center 2 years ago haha

Before the game starts, when they announce the players from the away team, the crowd usually yells "sucks!" right after each name is called.

I don't know if they still do this because I haven't been to a game in 4 years, but I don't know why they'd stop.

2 years ago we still did it... First time I took my boy, although I tried to prepare him; I still scared him a bit with the yelling but by the end of the game he was right there with me :-)

And it has special meaning here since Jack White included "Baltimore" in the lyrics!

LOLOL, You must have read my post about me saying that when i went to the Bungels game last yr. I lost my voice 3 times, i would lose my voice everytime id get it back.

I had my whole section beating on the chairs infront theirs, lol, i remember i was banging the chair so hard, the Chick infront of me had Beer in the cup holder and it was splashing everywhere. LOL, She was either too drunk to realize it or she just didnt care.

Good times, but my throat was hurting for a few days. I was in the 109 section by the endzone, where the players come out opposite side. Great seats.

Let me change that. There is no IF. Walk around to Unitas Palza and rum the foot on the statue. Every one does it. Its so shiney :-)

The best tradition was when they used to play the song in which the entire stadium would yell "YOU SUCK!" during a big lead.

Standing on third down.
Telling the beer guy to keep the change whenever a visiting fan passes $ down for drinks.
Telling visiting fans to keep going to the top and jump off when we were seated in the 5th level.
And always, and I mean always, kneel down if you are walking up the stairs when a play begins. Some fans are so clueless...

When your throat gets sore, scream louder. That's what my dad always told me!

The noise needs to be deafening.

We sit on metal at the rail and my so wears his steeltoed boots to make it louder lol
Most teams get introed as a team to negate the ' sucks' and the D should be introed this week since it was offense last game .

I've had season tickets for 4 years now and I can only remember the Saints being introduced individually. Yelling sucks at every player was awesome. Most teams get introduced as a team.

Warm weather pre-game warmups consist of a few cold beverages before boarding the light rail train. Cold weather tradition dictates substituting JD or limoncello for the sudsy ones.

I miss a lot of the old traditions from when i was young, right now i am thinking back to memorial stadium when the golf cart used to bring the relief pitchers in or Wild Bill Haggy leading the cheers. Some great memories.

I also remember towards the end of the Colts time in Baltimore i went to a game where we were playing the Jets and i was about 15 at the time and Baltimore fans were almost chased out of our own stadium by Jets fans hollering and bickering at us in our stadium. Does anyone have a betting game like we used to for both baseball and football.

You grab a hat and i fit was baseball everyone drew numbers and whoever got the number of the inning where the winning run was scored he or she would win the bank or in football which quarter the winning score came in.

Those days you could bring in your own beer but it had to be in anything but glass.

Man i miss the yesterdays of sports when players stayed on teams their entire careers and obviously not for the money as the pay was less then adequate.
