Steve Sabol, President of NFL Films Passes Away

14 posts in this topic

Some sad news to report, Founder and President of NFL Films Steve Sabol has passed away at the age of 69 of brain cancer.

This is a tough loss for the NFL. Without him there is no NFL Network, and who knows how big the NFL would have became without him and starting NFL Films. The things he thought of to bring the game closer to the fans, was revolutionary for his time and yet things like wireless microphones on players and coaches, the different camera angles he came up with.

Thanks Steve for making the NFL sound and look better, without you who knows if we would even have those camera angles, wireless microphones on players and coaches and much other things he gave to the NFL.

Actually, Ed Sabol (Steve's father) was the founder of NFL films. Steve started as a camera man, worked his way up to president.

Sucks. I enjoyed watching NFL Films. He seemed like a real good guy and it's a shame he went that early. God bless him and may he rest in peace.

I enjoyed the works of Steve Sabol, and those who worked with and for him at NFL Films. His contribution to sports could be considered high art, when one thinks about it.

Rest Well, Steve Sabol, for you have earned it, my friend.
