yep, that's the one...

I could be wrong but didn't Mattison's defense hold up statistically as one of our better units in franchise history? And he did it with the likes of Frank Walker and Chris Carr starting in the secondary.
#3 defense his first season here. And unfortunately, nobody cares that Mattison didn't have McAlister, Rolle, Adalius Thomas and Bart Scott like Ryan did...

Joe needs to read the defense better; he needs to be vocal at the LOS. He needs to go no huddle so he can see the defense better and it helps our Oline defend the pass rush more efficiently.

If the safeties are back, let Rice tear it up or short passes to TE; if they are lined for Blitz or running defense, throw deep or sidelines. It has many possible ways; Joe needs to wake up........

PS: Joe, remember you have your probowler RB and FB to help you take off the pressure from the aggressive defense.....

Doesn't anyone think its odd that the PATRIOTS lost to a below average team and no one in the media is bringing that up. But when the RAVENS lost to the Jags ( who i might add had a really good Defense ), The RAVENS were shunned for losing to a crappy team.

Its a double standard. Oh and the PATTYs lost at Home, thats a double whammy imo.

I notice but don't expect different. Not for nothing the Cards d is pretty Damn good. I knee they would cause Brady problems.

I think we come out strong and get the kind of win that has people thinking we're the team they saw week 1.

So am I. It was Mattisons defense that shut the Pats offense down in the 2009 playoffs, not Pagano's

34- 24 New England is my prediction. Brady tears the middle of the field up with Welker and Gronkowski, more simple schemes from Pees. Our offense moves the ball with success on the Pats defense but ultimately turn the ball over once more than the Pats while our defense struggles to even slow down the Patriot offense.

Oh i remember, yea we were playing Prevent because the Pats were playing Catch up and forcing Brady to throw the whole time. Had that score been alot closer, it would have killed us.

Thats the only time i don't mind playing Prevent, when we are 3 or more scores up because you know they are going to throw it and try and go deep.

We should have blitzed the heck out of Vick, you saw how he threw that horrid int to Pollard when he was rushed out of the pocket.

Completely dumbfounded why we stopped when it was working.

Bud, Pollard will be in the middle to knock the crap out of Gronk and Welker. Plus Mcclain will be around there too..

Im telling you, RAVENS are going to STUMP the Pattys, Everyone in that locker room is still bitter over that AFC Game that got away. Trust me.

Except that NE has no OLine and Bardy isn't P. Manning, a guy who could get a ball out of his hands quicker than any qb. Ngatas gonna have a good day. And negativity tsk tsk tsk. Hernandez is gone putting more coverage on Gronk (I have Welker on my FF team) Welker will get shut down by Webb, and that leaves the Pats with Edelmen (who Jimmy destroyed last year) and Stone hands Lloyd. And their D still sucks. The negs will do their part, and if you think Winslow and Ridley are going to contribute you will hear my laughing from 49er [+10(2)] territory.

No, I don't think Ridley will do much. Winslow could have been a factor had he been signed earlier (and healthy, not sure how his knee is). I dont think we can fully count Lloyd out, he's a solid player. I just don't think we;ll be able to take away the middle of the field. Pollard is hurting a bit and even when healthy lets not act like Pollard is a great cover safety. He's been outstanding in the role we have him in but he's not going to cover Gronkowski all day 1 on 1. NE may not have an O-line but let's not act like we have anyone who can dominate a mediocre O-line other than Ngata.

I'm just being objective. Last week everyone trumpet about an absolute trashing of Philadelphia and we lost even though we forced 4 turnovers.

And I'm not too concerned over the negs, especially if people can't handle a different viewpoint when its backed with logical predisposition.

nah, he doesn't have to; he'll let Gronk catch the ball and he'll knock the crap out of him, and a few more good times of that, Gronk is going to think twice when catching the ball in middle or he'll get carted away with 1 more hit.......

Considering he outweighs Pollard by close to 40 pounds its going to take quite the hit to knock him out of the game. Its not like Gronkowski is soft either.

It's hard to envision us shutting Gronk down, but Welker has not been himself since the start of the season, and it's not like he's due for a good game or anything. Plus shouldn't it be taken for granted that Brady will have his share of yards and Gronk will have his share of catches? But that doesn't mean they'll be able to sustain drives all day.

Why aren't you taking into account that Pees knows Brady and J. McDaniels well? If ever a coordinator would go into a game with a plan, I would think it would be Dean Pees this week, as frustrated as I've been with his vanilla defense these last two weeks.

You said in your next post that we don't have anyone who can dominate a mediocre O line except Ngata, but I could envision McPhee making noise. I noticed last week, we had mutiple people hitting Vick. Ngata, McPhee, McClain, Upshaw, Reed, maybe Lewis, McClellan and Jones got some hits. What I'm saying is, maybe one guy won't tear them apart up front all on their own, but we were relatively successful with getting to Vick when we sent more than three guys last week. I have the most confidence in Haloti and Pernell.

Our protection (or lack thereof) killed us against the Eagles. The Pats don't have nearly as good a front 7 in terms of getting after the passer, so Flacco should be fine, although you didn't say he wouldn't.

And I remember last year, you said we had "no shot" at beating the Bengals at home......

Well in Gregs second year, we fell to number 10. Pagano helped get us from 10 back to 3, and guided our pass rush from a 32 sack season to a 48 sack season, with no real personel additions other than McPhee (although McPhee's great). And Pags didn't have C Mac, Rolle, AT or Scott either.

Pagano still had a better team to work with...Mattison had Foxworth, Fabian, Ivy, Walker at CB, so the emergence of Webb and Cary was huge. Also, McPhee is a big upgrade over Redding...
I'm not saying one is better than the other, but I am saying that Mattison was not the blowhard that some people made him out to be

I am not an advocate of injuring someone but wasnt it Pollard that hurt Gronkowski during the playoffs last year? I really do not think pollard is afraid of hitting anyone. He has also played much better in pass defense then originally advertised. I actually think he has been one of the top free agent pick ups that the Ravens has ever made.

As I stated in the Eisenberg thread: I Want Revenge! I want to see all the stops removed this week and to see our Ravens humiliate them on the field of play, in front of our home crowd and on national tv. I'd also be extremely happy to hear about a few scrums in the Pat's locker room before the game and after. lol. A fan can dream, right?

Let's show Tom Brady what we got!
Webb can go Welker, Cary and Pollard on Gronk, and Jimmy Smith and Ed on Brandon Lloyd. We need extra DBs in this game, but hopefully Peas can figure out a way to still bring the pressure.

Everyone knows that Brady is not nearly as good when he's banged around. That's the basis for the defensive gameplan. Find a way to smack him around. Given the Pats o-line issues that isn't nearly the challenge it's been in previous seasons.

i want this to be the Ravens, "You Know!" game. meaning; they need to send the patriots a message through beating them down on sunday in front of a national audience that says; "You know you got lucky in the AFCCG and that we (Ravens) should've represented the AFC in the Superbowl and NOT you!"

I'm a Bills fan, but I still like the Ravens.

Please, do us a favor: Bash Tom Brady into the ground so hard his head hits his facemask hard enough to leave a mark.

We'll be trying it the week after.
